  1. My 2-cents are usually worth a nano-linden, but I hope this might be inspirational if not helpful to the OP. I did the recent Valentine's Shop & Hop and noticed a realistic thick smokey glass tabletop (with a slight greenish tint, but that might have been an effect of other lighting as Wulfie said above.) The creator was Cory Edo who owns Trompe Loeil. (and no, this isn't a paid promo, I'm just not easily impressed these days.) The teardrop-shaped table was called "Audrey's" and I found it in his main store as well. As I don't own a home in Sl, I didn't buy it, and have no idea how it was created. It looked as heavy as that sort of glass would be in RL and I felt it set a new bar for glass in SL. just sayin
  2. Thank you so much for your prompt reply, Rolig. It gives me a jumping off place to experiment which was a lot more than I had!! Today I got lost in Microsoft's bizarre Knowledge-base rabbit warren maze trying to resolve what should have been a simple (cryptic error message) question (but of course never is with msft) so am totally burned out right now. Never did solve that pesky problem. Hope this thread remains alive long enough for me to attempt to follow your directions, try the tut and then come back asking a "blonde" question. ) I would never have known about "whitelisting" so am hoping your Part A and Part B can be simply strung together in a single script. LSL syntax is totally confusing to this newb. THANK YOU!
  3. To clarify, I do NOT need all the options I mentioned combined in one script (up/down AND sideways AND back/forth) I was just giving those as examples. Just up and down is fine.
  4. Confuseled scripting newbie not looking to be spoonfed code snippets but rather hoping for a clear explanation or better yet, suggestions/links to free scripts with thorough in-line documentation. I'm still unsure of the best search terms to help winnow down results or hopefully zoom right in to an appropriate script in the LSL Library. Several months ago a kindly builder/scripter dashed off a script to move an item up or down 6 m On Touch, but since. it was free, he understandably made it NoMod so I couldn't see how the script was constructed. I actually need to create a more complicated script that will - 1) move an item up or down (or sideways or back and forth) X meters AND 2) limit touch permissions to just hubby and myself. I am fairly sure similar scripts have been written for many objects such as curtains, sliding doors, blinds, lights, flagpoles, etc. but the ones I found and fiddled with lacked helpful documentation for variations (eg., gradual versus instant changes) and I didn't find one that showed how to limit Touch to certain residents. Thank you in advance for any assistance. Apologies and face palms if the answer is right under my nose.
  5. Just migrated to Singularity to "enjoy" some Sunshine but I'm getting a singularly bad sunburn instead. :matte-motes-sunglasses-1: SL's old old viewer V1.235 used to have a known glitch where it would lose a user defined RenderVolumeLODFactor setting and revert to the ugly default 1.125. Over time that problem just seemed to go away and I could go months without having it default. However, since I began using Singularity last weekend, amongst other hassles and anomalies (like significant LAG and an irritating need to click Appearance just to get clothing to Rez), I'm now losing my increased RenderVolumeLODFactor setting with almost every TP, change of appearance, log on and sneeze. Doesn't seem to matter if I raise it to 4, 5, 6 or 60, poof, back it goes to the crappy 1.125 default. Any ideas how to make the setting a wee bit more permanent?? TIA
