  1. It enables them to sell more items than would be the case if items were freely transferrable. For example, why would a friend buy himself an expensive dinner suit if he could borrow yours once in a while? If the items were transferrable, the initial sale price may well be higher in order to "compensate" the seller for the reduction in future trade.

Time for a little thong song :matte-motes-sunglasses-3:

I wanna put a bowtie on you!

I keep thinking that those pants look to be struggling to hold the weight they seem to be carrying. I wonder what's in there!

  3. UK based here.

I sighed when I received an e-mail yesterday from LL telling me that "action" is required in order to continue any payment transactions with SL and that "due to the conclusion of the Second Life local payments beta program" (whatever that is supposed to mean), I'm required to add a new credit card or Paypal account by going to my billing page.

I sense trouble and frustration ahead!

ETA: card details re-submitted on billing page. I will now have to wait with baited breath and hope that it all works when I'm next called upon to use that payment information.

  4. As anti-social as I often am, I'd love to see the ability to "appear offline" as an option. Obviously, this would also would have to be reflected on the website and the sender of any message or inventory offer would have to receive a message saying the recipient was, or appeared to be, offline and that the message/item would be delivered when they logged on.

  5. Having been using, and very pleased with the performance of, FS Mesh Beta, I downloaded 3.2.2. However, I was disappointed to see that linden water is a much darker shade of blue than should be the case and way too transparent and that light does not reflect on the water surface. Further, the sky is featureless.

I tried 3.2.1, and whilst that resolves the sky and water issues, objects do not rez and the lag is terrible.

For the time being, I'm back to using the Mesh Beta and hoping that the next release of FS will cure my sky and water issues.

  6. There is club called The Hacienda in SL, modelled on the RL club, where, unsurpisngly, they tend to play the music genre under discussion. However, on the occasions I've been there, it's been pretty quiet.

A friend of mine who has DJ'd there in the past, DJs at SL Dublin (each Saturday 1-3 pm SLT) playing indie/alternative/Madchester sounds.

I put on a unicorn and went dancing in space. Have never been to a furry sim. The unicorn looks like one that my daughter owns, ergo "stuffed toy" as far as I am concerned. Granted, it has teeny tiny bumps on its chest, but certainly no genitalia of any kind. An unnamed long term resident asked me if I knew I was violating TOS by being nude. I explained that I didn't know, thanked for the heads up and changed immediately. The response was well I don't care if you do furry or not. I still have your pic and I'm calling security.

    REALLY? For a stuffed toy???

I thanked her for her diligence, acknowledged that ignorance is no excuse, pointed out that I had already changed and wished her good evening. And she still managed to come back snarky because she felt that I needed to take into account that rezzing can be slow and people can't be expected to know that I have changed. Oh joy. Anyway, the point is....REALLY?? For a stuffed toy?? lol.

    Just sayin'....

Now I'm laughing...........not at you but because in my early days in SL one night at Secret Relections (I miss that SIM)  I ran into a Neko and a Purple Unicorn who were being amorous.  And yes this really did happen........they invited me to join them for a threesome.

Needless to say, at that time I had not been corrupted enough by SL to 'do' a Purple Unicorn. So I declined the invitation.

I do still laugh when I think about it.

So if a similar offer came your way now, Perrie, you're sufficiently corrupted to accept?

  8. Just an update here. In a thread over at SLU someone has raised and posted pics of exactly the same problem with regard to water that I've been experiencing. According to the FS developers, and if I've understood what is being said correctly, this issue will persist for some until LL makes further graphics rendering fixes. The suggestion was to use release 3.1. However, that release crashes my PC!

I find it a little odd that this problem has re-emerged for me. Earlier this year I had experienced the same issue with a Kirstens release. But the next release (as a result of LL graphics rendering fixes) resolved the issue for me. I find it strange that further "fixes" made since that time should have caused the problem to re-merge.

  9. I have been managing just fine with FS Mesh Beta.

I downloaded the release viewer yesterday and thought all was well until I realised that the sky had no clouds and linden water was extremely transparent and a much darker shade of blue than should be the case, and had no surface "ripple" (ie. light reflecting off the ripples) effect. I had this same issue with one version of Kirstens viewer much earlier this year (the issue was resolved in the following Kirstens release).

I raised my issue twice in FS inworld group chat, but was ignored in favour of  a host of very simple questions being answered. As things stand, I'm sticking with the Mesh Beta for now.

I'm sorry to hear of Rudi's unforeseen absence. I've enjoyed, through Rudi, seeing SL from a South African perspective. I guess that whilst he's away, I should take the opportunity, through Blogger's posts, of learning a little about SL from a German perspective.
