  1. Is anyone else seeing this issue? I've been trying to shop for clothes and such, but since I can't see any of them, I've been forced to shop. Clearing my browser cache hasn't had any effect, and I don't know what else I can do about it. Any ideas? Is this even the right place to discuss this or report it?
  2. I have been working on a project for a mod in SL for some time now. The person who is working with me had suggested I use the Orange Nova Skadi Sergal avatar as a base for it. Little did I know how much of a nightmare it was at the time. He's been reassuring me he can make the avatar look the way I want it, and bit by bit, it *has* shaped up. By now, it's nearly done. All that is left is to make an outfit for it that will fit the Skadi and not clip through the body randomly. Unfortunately, this is where the problems begin. Thee mesh body was (as far as I understand it) made in Maya, but animated in Blender, and is close to 5 years old now. The files are some complex mess that reequires some effort to decrypt, but has been done at least once. The person I found who was willing to try to figure all this out wanted $150 USD for the single outfit, and $175 t have exclusive rights to it. I am not able to pay $150 USD for a single virtual outfit that will then go on to be mass produced (basically me paying someone else for giving them my idea, then getting one copy at an inflated price while they sell it wholesale to others for much cheaper). Much less pay even more to be the only one who gets the copies. Is there anyone willing to take this on and not leave me a bloodless corpse on the floor? I'm willing to pay a decent amount for the effort, but not 37.5L for something I won't even own afterwards other than the single copy. I'm not giving more details here because... well... I'd like to find someone who will keep it at least sorta confidential until it's done. I'm not really looking to have a bunch of random people taking my idea and running off with it, although I doubt many wouldd, even if I laid it all out here. Can anyone help me get this done without excessive cost?
  3. I've been trying to use this for literal years and there have been no real changes in the difficulty of finding an item on the marketplace. For example, I was recently looking for a mesh body made by a company named 'Belleza'. So typing in 'Belleza mesh body' should turn it up, right? Nope. instead I get everything with that name located anywhere in the description, no matter how obscure. Over 1000+ hits. So I try the various boolean tricks to get some slightly smaller results. 950+ hits. So then I try adding the specific name of the mesh body to the list, which is Venus. No change. How is it being allowed in the marketplace that random vendors can put the name of another more successful company's product in their descriptons and that item shows up MORE READILY than the actual successful product? All of these things using Belleza's name are made FOR that product... to be used only on that product, in some cases... and yet you can't FIND that product to buy it and make use of all the stuff obscuring it! It's sincerely maddening, and far more commonplace than anything else on the marketplace outside of dozens of the same item coming up when you do a search. When... if ever... are changes to the search and filing systems built into the marketplace going to be implemented? I would really like to be able to search for things I want, and to be able to only have things show up that I'm looking for (today I searched for 'shorts'. I got several hits for boots. BOOTS!). Please, PLEASE do something about this. The makretplace has become an almost unnavigable mess because of things like this, and it's been years since anyone has tried to address it. One suggestion that I think would help immensely: if someone is making a product that is meant to be used with another one (like clothes or textures for a mesh body) and want to use that item's name in their description, require them to also include a marketplace link to the item or items in question that said product is made for. For example, if someone makes pants for the Belleza mesh body, and wants to put 'Belleza' in the description of their product, they ALSO *must* include a link to the actual Belleza mesh body in their description, or they are given the ability to add a link in the 'Related items' section that directs people to the products their product is made to work with. if the item is not located on the marketplace, then they MUST provide some link that will lead the shopper to an inworld location where the item can be purchased. This will remove a LOT of the confusion of rooting out the specific item that is the base one you need to use the others. It makes no sense that there are all these items listed than are made to work with a specific item that is either unavailable on the marketplace, or so buried under things people have made to work with it that it's literally impossible to find.
  4. Please tell me this isn't happening in here. SL has all kinds of stuff that would be against the law in RL going on all the time. The things people are into would bend the minds of everyone everywhere, if they were brought out into the open. Also? This isn't a purely US based community. People outside the US are already laughing at us for the way we handle pretty much everything; are we going to spread our ignorance to the virtual world as well? The confederate flag is nothing more than a symbol from a bygone era. Stop making it look as if it was some representation of the end of days. It's like some conspiracy is in effect, with the government creating some convient reason to expunge that flag. STOP it.
  5. I was recently given a laptop with the following specs. Vista 64-bit OS service pack 2 Intel Core2 Duo CPU p8400 @ 2.26 ghz 2.27 ghz 4 GB RAM Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS. AT first, it was running fine, then the latest updates were completed... since then, the thing crashes almost every time I log in, no matter what changes I make or what client I use. I had been using Singularity, but that started to crash as soon as it was opened, so I got the official client from LL. It worked once... then stopped working. I've seen some people talking about heat dissapation, and about bigger, dedicated power supplies to the video card; could one of these be the problem? Or is it more likely that something changed in the base code of SL is interfering with how SL runs on this card? The laptop runs perfectly fine in all other respects. If the problem is heat or power, can someone recommend to me how I would go about making the system run cooler, and where I would go for a more powerful power supply? I'm not familiar with laptops, and so I'm a little in the dark here... And if the problem lies with SL itself, what recommendations for fixing the issue can be made? Has anyone been having trouble of this kind with SL of late? How did you fix it?
