  1. What viewer are you using?

If it's Firestorm click CTRL+P to go to Preferences then down to the Firestorm tab... Untick the box "Hide empty System folders from inventory"

Although you did say that you have never used the Favourite folders feature so you may have to create a Favourite place for your inventory to automatically add it. Simply go to World > Landmark This Place and where it says Landmark Location make sure it goes to "Favourites" and it should hopefully save in your Favourites bar and in your newly created favourites folder in your inventory.

  2. The groups was increased to 42 about 18 months ago.

Back around mid 2011 it used to be 25 groups per avatar, this cap got raised to 42 due to the increase in residents and groups.

Personally I think 42 is a good number. You look on peoples profiles and most of them are filled with just random groups which serve no purpose other than to give them their own title.

And for some reason people are creating groups for friend and family which I understand if the group was deeded to a land for managment but if not I think that's a waste of group space because you can just hold a group conference in your friendslist if you want to chat to all who are online, because if they're offline chances are they don't care what's going on when they aren't online.

If people actually maintain their groups instead of clicked "JOIN" everytime they get an invite they'll see that they are actually part of groups they want to be in.

Another issue I have is people joining fan groups then the group of the club their dj plays out therefor they get 2 reminders of their favourite DJ as well as wasting a slot for groups.

People are still members of groups to sims which they no longer go to so they are wasting away in their profile. Furthermore if you could join an unlimited amount of groups what if you go offline for 3 days and within those 3 days the groups have sent out 3 notifications per group that's a hell load of crap you have to file through when you log on.

  3. You may also need to increase your bandwidth slightly if streaming media. Music not so much as most of the time they stream at 128kbps sometimes will stream higher but not that much a maximum of 320kbps but dosn't require much changing if you click play on the music player in Second Life.

    Although!

Streaming movies and live video can be a different story and depending on the speed they are uploading depends on how much you will need to increase the slider to let it in.

Whenever I watch a feature length film in Second Life it's recommended to have atleast 2500kbps minimum bandwidth (recommended by the people who I buy the films from in Second Life)

  4. I'm now using Photoshop CS6 where as before I was using CS3

Whenever I get to the Export menu it asks me:

    Compression:
    None/Fast
    Smallest/Slow

    Interlaced:
    None
    Interlaced

The ones in bold are the ones I have selected.

And no it's pretty small on a prim, and no settings have changed still and always using FireStorm v4.0.1.27000

Only difference is using Photoshop CS6 as opposed to CS3

  5. Not Sure what I've done differently but whenever I upload a .PNG texture now the smooth edges are very sharp and edgy and looks very horrible.

Last time I uploaded a .PNG the edges were smooth and worked how I wanted it.

But now when I upload a .PNG file it's very Ecckkk!!

Visualise a circle with a transparent background.
It's very smooth and round until uploaded to Second Life and applied to a prim it becomes very rough and sharp and ugly round the edges.

    Thanks in Advanced :)

  6. I think I may or may not have missed a step, I did this when uploading a t-shirt and it worked 100%

But when trying to upload some shorts it doesn't want to...

    Let me show:

I'm not sure but I think it's a missed step.. maybe.

    Anyway, Thanks in Advanced :)

    Blender 2.59
    FirestormViewer

  7. Tell him his LOD is down to low.

    He will have to go

CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+S to open the Debug menu.

    Then type in 'RenderVolumeLODFactor'

Sounds like his is set way too low perhaps he has it set to 0, anyways just increase it to like the minimum default which is 1.125 or he can knock up to 2. Anything above 1 he should be able to see it, the higher the number the further away he can be from the object and still see it.

  8. Can anyone offer some useful ways to fix this problem?

    I'm using Blender 2.59

But I also have MAX 3DS & MeshMixer07 at my disposal so I can export to .OBJ and repair else where.

    Untitled.png

Anyway I was panning round and saw that the 2 seems were going thorough eachother slightly so I pulled them apart. Any way I can morph this together so it goes round?

    Thanks in Advanced :)

  9. As Luc said those Blender versions are the best.

Clothing and Furniture require different approaches.

Furniture you can build with your eye.

Clothing it's like 100% easier to export, and build from a Second Life model.

When it came to me learning I learnt stage by stage using keyword searches.

Start by: "Exporting Second Life avatar to Blender"

then "Making a basic shirt in Blender"

then "Rigging Clothes to Avatar in Blender"

I've yet to find a complete tutorial that goes from phase 1 importing avatar to the last phase rigging and uploading to Second Life.

  10. Actually, because of locations and the internet a few people found my home address and I got iTunes gift cards :D!

But anyway I have a Real Life profile filled with details on me, so if people find something interest or a mutual interest then they can tell me about it in world and after a while I'm up for Skype, I'm never on Skype but I have loads of Second Life people on my Real Life facebook, Skype. emails I even iMessage with them if they have iPhone iPod or iPad so I'm all up for keeping in touch when I'm offline.

It's the friends I make on Second Life that keep me coming and if I'm intouch with them in Real Life too then they give more reason to hand out with there avatar in Second Life :D !

But I'm not giving my Skype Details out here..

    But check it:

You like it talk to me :)

  11. They will help you Premium membership just get's you live faster responces.

Open up a support ticket explaining your issue.

You'll be ask to provide government I.D (passport, drivers license) to prove that you are the person who created the account.

People think it's silly providing those details for Second Life but your avatar is a valuable asset that could have L$ attatch to their name. So be prepared to have scanned or photographed copies of these documents to upload for them.

  12. Same boat with me lol =P

I normally look at random groups of things I like and spark up conversations there but they just never really go furthur.

I don't get clubs because I'm normal the avatar who whenever makes a comment to join it's not responded or acknowledged.

Do as I do, create something of interest that people like and make friends with your customers <_< it's sad but it's how I survive the dreadest lonliness that Second Life some how brings!

  13. I swear this will be last post asking a how-to =P Besides someone else can find this useful hopefully.

Anywho, I mapped out the UV Nicely, unwrapped it, exported it as a .PNG took it to Photoshop put a texture to it brought it back to Blender and placed it onto my model so how do I export it as a .DAE with the texture included on it? I feel I'm missing something because whenever I bring it to Second Life it's just a white model.

    Thanks in advanced :)

OH OH OH sorry forgot to mention it's a rigged T-Shirt mesh model.
