  2. I know this is a super old thread, but I was just buzzing through it out of boredom. I have lived in Bay City for over a year, and it is such an active and welcoming community. I believe the question was posited regarding what it was about Bay City that made it so unique, so desirable, and so active...was it the double prim land? The LDPW builds? I can tell you flatly, it is all of those things, but what makes it a thriving community is hands down the activity of its members. We are very lucky to have some extremely active and kind people advocating for Bay City and keeping the community alive. We all are in groups in SL, that are full of people, but totally inactive. What makes them active? People who care and put some effort in. Bay City Alliance, the group for residents of Bay City, thrives because of Marianne McCann, who, if there was an election for office, would be the president of Bay City. She is front and center for all that is Bay City, and she is surrounded my many others who are also very active in furthering events and the community feel of Bay City. Their involvement, eagerness to help, willingness to befriend new residents, and general enthusiasm for our home is infectious. I would never even consider leaving Bay City. If I were to leave Bay City, it would be because I was leaving SL for good. Bay City is the kind of place I spent years seeking out but never found in other mainland areas, or estates. The closest similarity was on roleplay sims, where you saw the same people, made friends, had a themed environment, and lots of community activity. Unfortunately, those kind of sims are unstable and subject to the whims of dictators. Bay City offers all the benefits of a private themed community, but with private land rights. There is no power struggle, there is no issue with dictatorship, the land is as stable as Linden Lab (which is hopefully stable!!), and with the high price of land, people seem to show some respect for it. Most people have better than average builds (there are a few eyesores, but no where near the level of the rest of mainland), and many people use there land to create public spaces. I have seen people use their land to offer the public cafes, gyms, bars, breweries, public rezz zones, courthouses, police stations, taxi cab depots, hotels, etc. I could go on for days. Some come and go as people decide to build new things, but the point is, that infection of community spirit coming from Bay City Alliance's members spreads to even the newest of residents. It only takes one enthusiastic and active person to make something special, and that's what Marianne has done for Bay City, IMHO.
  3. Looking for a beautiful and active mainland community with the design of an estate, but the autonomy of mainland? Bay City is your place! Take an adventurous drive over the 45+ region highways and interstate, take a plane out at the municipal airport, boat the winding rivers, or sail the open seas. Enjoy some bowling, or an afternoon at the Amusement Park or Aquarium. There are endless activities, fellow Bay City citizens to meet, with the autonomy and freedom of mainland and no covenant. Bay City residents can join the Bay City Alliance, and be a part of a tight-knit community that enjoys monthly events, fairs, festivals, and even casual roleplay. For Sale: Come live in exclusive Bay City - Rollers - the rare 45+ region themed mainland. I have two nice sized parcels (2080 square meters total) for sale in Bay City - Rollers, double prims (952 prims!!), with two sides protected by the highway, and one side protected with riverfront access as well as access to the river ferry that goes by every 10 minutes or so. Price: 159,000L for both parcels - This is a STEAL, but I'm liquidating land as I get ready to go to law school in RL - Price is negotiable, but both parcels must be sold together. Features: These parcels are next to the landing zone and Linden-built Bayjou Theater (one of the many public attractions of Bay City). Take in a film at the Bayjou Theater or join the film society. The Bay City Community Center is nearby with weekly community member meetings, as is the Newport Yacht Club where you can moore your yacht or take off for a day of sailing. Take a look for yourself: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bay%20City%20-%20Rollers/80/96/25 Any questions - IM Faye Blackheart

  6. I know I'm not the first to have an upload problem with mesh, but I used to be able to upload just fine. Today, when trying to upload a fairly simple cardboard box mesh model, I would get to the upload menu to select the .dae file from my computer, and then as soon as I selected the file (mind you I didn't even get a change to his 'ok'), the viewer would crash to desktop with no explanation. I tried this on multiple viewers, V3, Exodus, and the SL Developer's Viewer. Same result every time. I did notice several times that the preview of the .dae file in the file upload menu would flash a grey texture saying something like "connection lost" or something like that, rather than showing the preview of the model. This would happen right before the crash. I don't know what connection is it referring to, my internet was working just fine.... is there some other connection problem? I have read throught he forums and though I find similar stories, I don't see any useful help or suggestions. I'm fairly new to mesh, but I can say that I only have 7 materials assigned, I'm not using UV Mapping, and this is just a plain cube with a few extruded faces for box flaps...no big deal. I have uploaded way more complicated crap before no problem?? Any help is much appreciated! -Faye Blackheart
  7. Private Homestead Ground Level Land Rental at Banana Twist 1/4 sim (16,384 sqm!) - 500 prims - 999L a week; 1/2 sim (32,768 sqm!)- 1000 prims - 1700L per week; Full sim (65,536sqm!) - 2000 prims - 3000L per week. Try finding 65,536 square meters of ground level space and 2,000 prims on a Class 7 private homestead for 3,000L per week. You won't, because it doesn't exist anywhere else! Why so cheap??! Because the group maintains skybox space at 2,000 meters up. The ground level is completely open for rent, the only caveat is Group rezzing must stay on (so no parceling/open rezzing). But as a tenant in the land group, you have normal land rights for terraforming, access/eject, and full sim-wide rezzing, total control over the ground level, and any of your friends or a family will have free admittance into the land group. Pay rental box to rent land. Search and join the land group "Black Industries" - the 50L fee to join will be reimbursed to you. Black Industries is completely flexible to special requests - just ask :) Come check it out: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Banana%20Twist/130/126/24 Any questions? 8. Interested in becoming part of a sim development project, but lack the connections to build/create on your own? We have the time and expertise, but need solid funding for a new role play sim project. Our sim development group consists of 15 team members, including: Well known and experienced sim builders (including builder from City of Concord when it was flourishing) - mesh building/roads/scripting, etc.. Experienced Game Masters for Police, Fire, DOT, DOJ, Criminal, and Government prepared with group infrastructure Estate Managers for PST, EST, and the EU time zones Experienced Moderators all well versed in role play etiquette and democratic moderation Rental Manager with experience managing over 200 rentals across 6 sims - peaking at 98% occupancy which substantially offset tier The team has all worked together on past projects and has a great working relationship. The lack of a high quality role play environment has brought us together again to meet demand. But we need a financial backer, preferably someone who enjoys roleplay, and would be a presence on sim. The initial city layout has been established, rules have been written, etc. If you are interested in financing, either in whole or in part, please contact Piper Mureaux in-world or reply to this posting. Details can be discussed with the team for further information.

  12. Discord has skybox rentals available - priced at 1.5L per 1 prim - you choose how many prims you need! What you get: 1. Choose the footprint size of your skybox - there is no limit on square meters - you can take up the entire size of the region if you want, pricing is only based on the prims you want to rent, not size of the rental space. This is great for those who have always wanted tons of space to have gardens, landscaping, or even build their own metropolis in the sky, but could not afford to rent a homestead or a full region. You can add prims as you need them! 2. Relaxed management - we are not land nazis on Discord, if you miss rent or rezz too many prims, we will not be hassling you or evicting you immediately. If you miss rent for a couple weeks, you may get a message, you may not... and as long as the sim has enough prim resources, rezzing more than you have rented is not a problem. We currently have two renters who have been missing for about 3 weeks. We hope they come back soon, but we understand that life happens, and sometimes logging on to make sure you don't get all your stuff returned falls on the bottom of the priority list. Unless the sim is under tight resource limits (which hasn't happened yet), your prims are safe until you find the time to come back and renew your rental. 3. A community of friends. The ground level of Discord is under construction for role playing, in-character rentals, and combat. If you are sick of renting and never knowing your neighbors, Discord is the place for you! Numerous residents, military members, role players, and management members are on sim at any given time hanging out, chatting, and having a good time. We are a fun group, we joke around a lot, and we always love meeting new people. 4. Assistance in skybox set up. For those who have limited means, or are new to Second Life, we can provide various housing options, and even custom platforms for you to stand on while you create your skybox environment. We have a wide variety of houses, skybox environments, and the skills to set it all up for you in minutes. My inventory is your inventory, if you need it, and I have it, I will rezz it for you. I am a marketplace shopping addict, so please, take advantage of my 30,000+ inventory purchases. IM Faye Blackheart for assistance in setting up your own custom space.. and start living!
  13. Good Morning: I am interested in the sales agent position with Concord Estates. I was born February 9, 2009, and have plenty of experience buying and selling land, both on the mainland and on estates. I am also an experienced builder, and have my own store on the marketplace. I am on Second Life everyday, and would be available immediately for questions/inquiries from customers. Please contact me in-world if I am a good fit for the position. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Faye Blackheart
