  1. I can't imagine how awful it would look on a phone, lol. Does nobody own computers any more these days? I can't imagine why people are so into everything being mobile, every time I try and browse the internet or do anything that's not Twitter on my phone it's obnoxious. Too many sims are too high-detailed to look any sort of decent on a mobile version. Maybe it would have worked if the game looks like it did back in 2004, but not any more.

  2. So I finally upgraded to a mesh head for my human avatar, but my favorite outfits are on a classic body, and I don't mind sticking with it a while longer. My hands are driving me crazy though, so I'm looking for some Bento ones.  I'm considering the Slink ones, but are there any cheaper alternatives out there for female hands? Just looking for some that I can use an Omega applier on. Trying the Marketplace but it's just loads and loads of demos for nails/rings or complete mesh bodies.

  3. I never actually posted here, whoops.

So I'm Kai, I've been playing for almost 9 years (my rezday is on the 31st!). I heard about SL back in like, 2007 or so when it started popping up in the news and in articles, I still remember seeing a segment on TV about a woman with some neurological disorder who distinctly programmed her avatar to have all her little real-life Tourettes-like issues. I didn't actually pick it up until my senior year of high school (I was 6 months underage, sshh!) after seeing one of my friends make a video of her furry avatar dancing, and I was hooked.

So the furry avatar thing was the biggest draw to me, the first avatar I ever bought was a Luskwood rat. That being said, 95% of all other furries on here cause me extreme embarrassment and I really don't like being around them, but then I get self-conscious about being one around human avatars. I need to get over myself, I think. Since I came back though, I've tried to put a focus on putting together a nice looking human avatar so I can enjoy myself in it. Of course, her whole thing is she's also a werewolf. I miss the old heyday when there were a ton of furry avatar creators making new, different avatars instead of people using the same base ones with mods over and over again.

I mostly use SL to find new music and explore, and tend to like to stick around alternative/indie music venues. I'm really shy though, so I don't tend to talk much around other people, I don't have social anxiety in RL but I sure as hell do in SL. I play on and off, I've definitely taken hiatuses for what was probably more than a year or so. Definitely playing more now that I've got a better laptop than the one I had in college, and the Monster Factory video Boy Mayor of Second Life definitely was a big factor in bringing me back for the first time in a while. I've got rented land and my own house for the first time ever now, and it's nice.  Might go back to my drifter ways eventually, but it's nice to be able to slam the 'teleport home' keys and be somewhere alone if you ever teleport to a sim full of naked people or something.

IRL I'm a pretentious anime nerd living in Florida. I'm quietly but very obviously furry (build fursuits, draw nothing but animals, ect) but like in SL, I'm super embarrassed about it and I can't stand the people who make their entire identities revolve around it and are incapable of enjoying anything unless there's animal characters in it. Anime is the bigger part of my hobbies by a long shot, and definitely the thing that has the most emotional connection for me. I went to art college and majored in illustration, but I think my calling is building fursuits, so we'll see how that goes...

Thanks for your answer ! Of course I don't have 74.201.103.238 as answer but 208.91.197.27... How can we change that, exactly ? 😨 What do you mean by "rebooting your system" ? And if it should correct itself eventually, how long will it take ? 😵

I am like 99% sure that by "reboot your system" he just means "restart your computer", lol.

I never have voice on unless I'm exploring with friends (and even then we almost always use Discord), and of course the day I want to start using it casually is the day it all crashes, augh.

Is that the new Kinzart av? Looks sharp in world!

Yes! It's got some issues that'll be patched out when the maker comes back from vacation, but it's incredible so far. I'm absolutely loving it.

  6. Definitely a place that you can visually tell is a shell of its former glory, but the places that thrive are amazing. Interior design and decoration far better than I could ever hope to do IRL, cozy fake furniture and houses, a good place to find new music and explore general weirdness of the human mind. Would be interesting if more people used it as a way to REALLY break into art exhibition-type stuff (I'm sure there was more of that type of stuff in the past) but I love the details and care people put into building everyday things. Wish furry avatars were the way they used to be around 2010-ish, with tons and tons of different creators making real, full avatars, instead of the same cutesy mods over and over for the same base avatar. Avatar modding crippled the furry avatar market.

SL is a great place to embrace your inner home designer because I bought my own house/skybox the other week and it's great to have a place to call my own instead of endlessly drifting and logging out in sandboxes. A house that I would never dream of living in comfortably IRL (half the walls facing the outside are huge glass windows) is what I live in in SL

Sometimes I wish I was more outgoing about actually talking to other people and making friends because it seems like it enhances it, but being here almost 9 years and just wandering around alone, exploring and clubbing, for 95% of them is a start.

It's already happened.  We had to deal with someone screaming about "racism against Furries" just this week.

    *sigh*

Butbutbut.... it's true! *sob* I get treated so bad by those NASTY BIMBO HUMANS, with their FRANKENSTEIN'S MONSTER butts and boobs hanging out!

  8. Right now it's the hype for a certain avatar coming out in the next few weeks (Kinzart Direwolf), but mostly it's because I just like exploring and because I've found so much new music through SL. I like going to clubs a lot for that reason, it's a good 'discover new music' platform.

Also because I get an urge to play it whenever I think about metaverse-type media like Snow Crash or Summer Wars or Ready Player One.

    Plenty? You said plenty?

From 10 place, there is 9 to ONLY HUMAN rule. Plenty? I test it myself! Its... seems like Furries do a world war or start assaulting peoples.... or i dont know... there is no logic behind this! Racism because they ban peoples who like to wear a different look. Furry in SL its a race. You need to understand! Its a race! Like dogs or other creatures. In SL its an existing thing, so they are. Dont bring the example, there is no in real.... its not save anything.

10 place? 10 place from where? There are thousands and thousands of sims out there, did you just cherry-pick the ones with a 'no furries' rule?

If anything, it's the people crying about how badly they're treated for being a furry that makes other people resentful of them.

  10. I'm gonna be honest, as someone who spends 99% of her time wearing furry avatars, I can see why they get frowned upon in some places because whew boy, have you see some other furries? Giant junk and genitals hanging out everywhere, profiles about almost nothing but sex, filled with the writing and grammar abilities of an eight year old.

I'm generalizing, of course, but when I go to clubs and stuff with all other avatars being human, it makes me feel embarrassed because of what a bad rep furries have, and I try and be like 'hey guys, I'm not like the OTHER furries' with the way I dress and what clubs I go to. But yikes, sometimes hell is other animal people.

That being said, literally the only place I've ever been asked to change to a human avatar was Frank's. Most places don't care at all unless they're explicitly RP sims.
