What would you call it?  Stalkers Anonymous?  Stalkers 'R' Us?  Bed, Bath and Stalkers?

I know one or two SLers who would be
    amazing
    at finding lost people.  :smileytongue:

Hmmm.. you might be right. I was thinking of a positive group that would actually be well-willing and helpful but... you raise a valid point. This place would be a hive for stalkers, too.

Taking that into consideration, I'd still like other people's opinion on this :)

  2. Now there's a good question. I'm not on a Mac, nor am I a Mac user so I can't answer it from experience. However, you might try two options (note: these are just suggestions as I have no experience with the Mac Client)

    - Do log in, then in the settings menu choose the starlight skin, then restart the client. (I know this is possible in the PC client)

    - Usually, the ALT-button reveals any hidden menu's. Not sure what the Mac equivalent is, but you could try that to find the menu if it exists.

Other than that, perhaps someone else might know the answer. Good luck nonetheless :)

  3. Quickly grabbed this from the wiki:

    INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAC USERS

    1. Find the Second Life Viewer 3 application in you Applications folder.
    2. Right click on the Second Life Viewer 3 application icon. You will get a menu.
    3. Choose "Show Package Contents" from that menu.
    4. Open the "Resources" folder and scroll down until you see the "skins" and "app_settings" sub-folders of StarLight.
    5. Make sure you are not actually running Second Life Viewer 3 as you do this.
    6. Copy the files from the folders in StarLight into the Second Life Viewer 3 application folder - this will add in the new skin elements and will overwrite some files.
    7. To uninstall rename the 'panel_login_backup.xml' file to 'panel_login.xml' in the /skins/default/xui/en sub-folder, and 'commands_backup.xml' file to 'commands.xml' in the /app_settings sub-folder.

Hope that helps. Good luck :D

  4. Frank's Elite Jazz is the most vintage place that sets the mood... they do have a one time member-fee I believe. Great music though and a great look and feel.

Other than that there's Frank's Place (the "normal" venue) which is still rather good, just always very busy (but free).

And I agree with the poster above, Bogart's is good, too :)

Good luck, and great to see people like you enjoy ballroom :D

    *is a ballroomdancer in rl ._.  *

No, i found her. Come to find out she wasn't as hot as i thought.

I took the liberty of poetizing this short fairytale. Do forgive, but I had to.

You are beautiful, but I'm sure you get that a lot,

I would've liked to get to know you, 'cause I thought you were hot.

You have black and blonde hair, but you logged of before I could say hi,

At the policestation we were, both you and I.

But now that I found you, I found out that you're not.

  6. Hey everyone,

I read through a lot of the posts in this section of the forum and it saddens me to see that so many people are hurt over losing contact with others. Being in SL for a while I know the feeling (though, gladly, I never have had a situation as hurtful as some of the other posts).

I was wondering... has someone opted to make a group in SL for the advancement of finding back friends? Sometimes, people could be under an alt, or perhaps someone knows someone else who might have some info on the sintuation. I think it might be a great initiative and I'd love to start a group like that if there isn't such a thing out there already.

    Any comments are welcome :)

  7. Aw heck, I'll fill it out too :D

Where are you from? Well you see, my mom and dad were in love and the sort of f-... err... I mean, The Netherlands!

When did you join SL originally? November 12th, 2006 \o/

What have you mainly spent your time doing in SL in the past? Doing various jobs, roleplaying, and socializing. Talking is fun! :D

How are you planning to spend your time in SL in 2013? Probably a mix of the above described. I am running a DJ School that just opened yesterday! [/randomAdvertisement] :P

    Also, I like mineturtle. :3

  8. Another thing you might consider is putting yourself in heavily populated area's. Unlike the real world, if you walk into a crowded place you are just another avatar coming in (don't take offense to this, it's a good thing sometimes! :) )

You could try, for example, to go to Frank's Place. It's a crowdy jazz venue and usually has a lot of people standing around. I met some amazing people there and, honestly, I have no recollection of how the conversations started... they just did :)

Good luck, and if you are shy for a talk but dare to IM me, feel free :)

  9. During a stage in my DJ'ing career I was asked to perform a couple of times at a Furry Sim. To be social, I thought it'd be nice to dress like one, too. This was my very first time I had to "become" a furry though, and I was in the exact same spot as you.

What I found is that the best way to find furry stuff is to actually go to a furry sim and just ask! I found that most Furries are amazingly warmhearted people willing to help you if you're friendly. Have a look around SL for the more popular Furry places (back when I was in your place, I went to FurNation, if memory serves). Just ask them, I'm sure they want to help out :)

    Good luck! :D

What you are asking for is exactly what old-style "system" clothes are good at. I'm not going to get into the whole "mesh is perfect/mesh is ebil" debate, but if you want something to look tight to your body you're better off using a system that applies the textures directly to your body than with a system that uses a separate shape.

If I may put in my two cents worth, as a guy, I agree with the poster above. Skinny jeans are one of those types of clothes that look way better when you do not use mesh. However, if you want some mesh'y additions, why not take a nice mesh belt on top of that? I think that looks great :)

  11. Hey all! :)

(First of all, I hope this is allowed. I -am- looking for new students. If this post shouldn't be here; I offer my sincere apologies and will delete it asap)

Xilion's DJ Courses just had its grand opening last night and is now accepting all students who wish to become a DJ, or hone their skills to become a better DJ.

Our DJ School focuses on the development of the DJ rather than their technical skill. Though we offer classes that aim at understanding and using popular DJ software, most of our courses focus on how to become that on-air personality everybody loves :)

Along with the courses we also have a shop with DJ equipment, apparel, streams and items to emphasize creating a personal DJ-look. We even offer a photostudio where you can put the new look to work in your profile and business-notecards!

Please feel free to stop by! ( Click here for the SLURL )

Want to read up some more before hopping over? Check out our blog!

Thanks in advance and I really hope to see you around :)

  12. Hello Community :)

I'm in the process of starting up a DJ school (gonna be an awesome and unique concept, or so I hope). Part of the school will be a really pretty shop with some DJ paraphernalia and other items that just fit the DJ scene. As such I am lookinf for affiliate vendors with clothes, shoes, and (DJ) gadgets and jewelry to help my future students and clientele to get a decent look.

I've already selected a few affiliate vendors and put them together in a part of the shop. The trouble is, however, that most affiliate vendors are actually rather huge vendors, taking up wallspace. I don't mind hanging up some vendors like that, but I feel that if I hang vendors on all my walls, I don't get the classy look I was hoping for. Beside that, I have ample floorspace and display tables and I want to use them.

I have been looking on the SL marketplace for hours already, but it seems no one is giving out affiliate vendors in the shape of, say, a box with jewelry displayed in it, or a box or stand with the actual shoes you can buy. It's all just posters.

I thought I'd create a post on the forums here and see if you have any ideas... I would really like some items on those display tables that look good. I'm open to all suggestions.

    Thanks in advance! :)
