I had this problem on Windows 7 and this fixed it: Search the Local Disc (C drive) for secondlife (no space between second and life) Delete the folder: SecondLife C:/Users/user name/AppData/Roaming Restart Second Life

Sounds about right to me. It's a shame people don't shop inworld as much as they used to because that was a good way of exploring and meeting people and what I used to do before I became an old hag. I imagine it must be very difficult to establish a business these days if everyone is buying from the web.
