  1. Well, you are saying here that you are song driven, not band driven. Let's see some YouTube examples. I never said I knew indies or who they are. I like a good song as well as the next person regardless of who did it. Indie used to mean artists not attached to huge labels i.e. Independent GaGa could be considered both new and Indie. What is your defintion? Wiki Cite below Indie rock is a sub-genre of alternative rock that originated in the United Kingdom and the United States in the 1980s. Indie rock is extremely diverse, with sub-genres that include lo-fi, post-rock, math rock, indie pop, dream pop, noise rock, space rock, sadcore, riot grrrl and emo, among others. Originally used to describe record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock. As grunge and punk revival bands in the US, and then Britpop bands in the UK, broke into the mainstream in the 1990s, it came to be used to identify those acts that retained an outsider and underground perspective. In the 2000s, as a result of changes in the music industry and the growing importance of the Internet, a number of indie rock acts began to enjoy commercial success, leading to questions about its meaningfulness as a term. well indie music is unsigned acts, and it doesn't have to be alternative. If you want to know what they sound like, go listen. But it seems the page you linked me to was mostly not indie. My station is only 8-10% indie anyway.

You prefer the white and green of this forum, eh ? The station is only about 8% indie. I suspect indie to me doesn't mean the same thing as it means to you. Eyes are very sensitive with regard to what they will tolerate on a website. If you check your average time on site stats, you might find a 5 second per viewer stay. Just sayin;-) As to Indie music, the ones I could read that you have listed in my brief stay are not ones I listen to. Melodicrock.com has a fair sampling of what indie folks are out there and is much easier to read, perhaps you should visit that site to see the type of Indie I am used to. Many sites are red and black, like the White Stripes, for instance. I'm guessing you never heard of most of those indies. If you say you have, you're probably lying. So saying you don't listen to them means you don't bother to try new stuff. I looked at that site and no, not the same definition of indie since it's mostly linking to acts like Kiss and Judas Priest and Skid Row. haha Not the same definition of melody, either.

Love The Who .. where do you rate Queen? I like Queen a lot. Not in the same eschelon but the next one. So, are you a guitar driven music lover or another instrument driven? Do your choices lean towards power or finesse? ELP over ELO? BST over the Stones? My choices lean towards original melodies. There's a pretty wide range of styles within the rock, pop/rock, and soul arenas. It's mostly about the song itself. Well all of the artists I have cited do their own music. [ELP did do some classical covers though] and since you have been talking bands not songs I thought I'd ask which bands you consider noteworthy;-) It's best you check out the station. My interest in music runs so deep I hesitate to really go into it because to state some and not all would pigeonhole me. Most people who have heard the station (assuming they like the Beatles more than Lady GaGa as a reference point) have loved it. http://blazinglightsintheskyradio.com Also if a few more want to stream it on their property, let me know.

What you may think is great stuff may be an anathema to someone else. The truth is this thread is simply a commercial attempt to get people to try your product. well this is the old all tastes are subjective argument. May be true in a technical sense, but it's obvious that the Beatles made better music than Yoko Ono, and if you don't think so, you just have bad taste. Hey, it's a very clever way to get free advertising, don't get me wrong, but it turns me off. And I feel no need to defend my taste in music to you. You're really cynical if the first thought that comes into your head when you see somebody excited to tell you about something he's worked on is advertising and commercial. Since there's no profit or even conception of profit in this, you're wrong. That you get turned off, well, I guess there's you and the other trillion people in the world who will never listen to my station. I also don't understand why you'd feel I was asking you to defend your tastes unless you're a huge Yoko Ono fan.

And The Beatles aren't mainstream? And suggesting they should be in everyone's (or at least, anyone with taste) top ten isn't pedestal-raising? Really, I don't have anything against them. I love the trippiness of Magical Mystery Tour and the rawness of Please Please Me. I'm probably into a lot of the same bands that you are. I'd make a guess that The Who, The Stones, The Kinks and perhaps Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd find as much favour with you as they do with me. I just suggest that your opening remarks came off as unnecessarily divisive, and put off as many people as you'd attract. No the Beatles were last in the mainstream in around 1971. Sure they get played on most classic rock stations, but mostly the same dozen songs. Most music fans of this era haven't heard many of their best songs. Yeah you're right about some of my favorites. As for putting people off, well I was really trying to save people the bother of reading my thread if their tastes weren't in my ballpark.

Minor Theat ... just a band. The Cure ... just a band. The Smiths... just a band. Nirvana... just a band. The Pixies... just a band. Oasis... just a band. Radiohead... just a band. Bloc Party... just a band. The Arctic Monkeys... just a band. THE NEXT BIG THING? Just a band. well it's not about pedestals, it's about enriching your life by listening to quality music instead of just partaking in the horsefeed that the mainstream offers you.
  11. The Who is one of the greatest bands of all time, they are well represented on the station.
  12. sent.. This station is for the rock era but covers a pretty good range of styles, rock, pop-rock, soul, harder rock, but quality songs only.
  13. well I'd like you to all listen with an open mind, become captive to the music. These are some of the best songs ever written. No there's no 50s or classical. It's rock era stuff. Wouldn't touch Madonna or GaGa with a 10 foot pole. http://blazinglightsintheskyradio.com
  14. messaged it to you. Here's the landmark to Tin Pan Alley also. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/London%20City/212/246/24
  15. I mean, if the Beatles aren't in your top 10 alltime bands and/or you think Lady GaGa is brilliant, don't bother reading this post. Anyway I'm just here to inform you that the best station on SL can be found at http://blazinglightsintheskyradio.com. It's also the station that plays in the songwriters gallery in Soho (Mainland London) called Tin Pan Alley. You're all invited to come check that out, there's a lot of content plus a fair amount of interactive stuff. Sit on the roof and take in the choons. :)
  16. Seems the best areas have no reasonable property for rent, or you can rent space and they won't let you build a venue there.
  17. Anybody else know something related to the specs I listed above, what I need to upgrade ? and thanks for your answers so far.
  18. my video card is NVidia 6150SE N Force 430 total available graphics 1071 mB dedicated video memory 64 mb DDR1 download speed 31.18 mbps
  19. I like the resolution but I seem to move rather slowly and sometimes crash altogether. How much power do I need or is this just a video card issue ? I have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.30 GHz 3 gig RAM 32 bit operating system.
  20. I'd like to rent a small 1024-2048 commercial plot near some actual activity. The times I'm on at night I hardly see anyone around unless I go to an event. What areas are the best as far as general walkaround traffic ?
