  1.  16 years in SL using the SL Viewer and I have never had such an annoying change to all my graphic and lighting settings as a result of this recent update: I now have to crank Brightness (exposure) setting to 1.5 even in Midday... 

    Also the Show Invisible option in the Highlighting and Invisibility menu is no longer there... What's going on?

  2. Problem Solved!  Thank you so much. The texture was indeed part of a large prim flanking a door. Not sure how I managed to attach it to myself but I guess there is a first time for everything LOL. I did't even consider a rogue attachment because it remained perfectly still  as I moved around and my alt didn't see anything attached to my main.

    Yesterday in my sim, my avatar experienced either some kind of graphic glitch or malicious attack that has resulted in me not being able to see anything other than a closeup of a wall texture as if it was a screen shot.  My avatar is still able to move and teleport around and my UI still functions but the camera controls are useless.

    I have cleared my cache a couple of times, changed my graphic settings, rebooted my PC, and uninstalled and reinstalled my viewer (The SL default) and nothing resolves this matter.

    I tried logging in from a different computer and this issue still occurs yet my alt is unaffected so this issue is avatar specific.

    Any insight as to what may have occurred and how it can be resolved would be appreciated.

    I have been in SL since 2006.  There were millions of subscribers with hundreds of thousand of people logged in at any given time back then.  Today SL is lucky to see 35K login at any given time. The in world economy sucks and sims are too expensive!  Might be a good time to leave...

    Are you sure you are on the the default LL release viewer?
    Your image looks like the over fogging you get on the EEP viewer with ALM enabled.

    Can you go to the top menu bar of the viewer: Help -> About Second Life.
    Click the "Copy to clipboard" button & paste all your system information here.

    Hi sorry about that. I just realized I hadn't adjusted my landing point settings-DOH!. The aforementioned SLURL is correct now.

    I have been using SL's default Viewer since October 2006  

    NOTE: If I uncheck Atmospheric Shaders the fog is dramtically reduced but there is still a subtle haze.

  6. 12 + year veteran here and I have never seen anything like this that has so messed up my default visuals.

    Currently most of my items are grayed out with a small percentage that are not and it looks like I am in a perpetual fog (See photo) and no matter what I do to the settings, nothing changes!  What am I doing wrong or better still, how can I disable this EEP because I like it the way it was before.

    As professional working in Film and Television, time is something that I currently don't have a lot of .... but I usually take a few months off between gigs so in June when my show wraps I will be able to better focus on the community RP aspect. 

    Dealing with unruly tenants is easily mitigated.

    My plan is in its infancy but I feel there is a large enough Horror, Vampire, Gothic, Fantasy, Demonic, Satanic (etc) community to cater to  :)

    Yes you are right but it starts with an interesting destination and I believe I have created that.

    I tend to agree with Chase01 that satellite stores (especially free ones) are not what you're looking for UNLESS those owners are also contributing to your RP community in other ways. Have you thought of making the retail spaces a part of the RP itself?

    I reiterate the free stores are part of the "decor" and are not revenue generators for me.   Their contribution to the RP community would simple be their presence in the market: One shopping in a Horror market on a Horror Sim would not expect to find a store full of cute breedables or baby clothes... so is that not also being part, albeit in very passive way, of the RP itself?

    Interaction with players/customers both through regular & special events is a good way to increase traffic & keep community interest high.

    Yes and this will be developed and implemented as the sim evolves. 

    As far as donations go, it's been my experience that you will receive a bit from visitors (not much to write home about) but it's the community that will be the backbone of your support.

    Again I don't need the revenue so all tertiary forms of revenue such as a trickle of visitor donations would simply go back into the community in one form or another.

    I understand what you are saying as I have a tendency to shop in a similar fashion but for expensive items, I will check their main store first for an actual visual of the item and then make a purchase on MP so I can leave a comment if merited.

    As stated, I am interest in the one stop shop horror destination with a variety of brands representing the Horror Market theme. It's not just the individual satellite stores but rather the collective concept of the Horror Village which includes the Horror Market nested within a horror/demonic RP environment that would be the traffic generator. 

    I have had tremendous success with satellite sales over the years on seasonally themed Pop-Up sims, especially at Halloween and this is what has inspired my concept. The difference being is my  market  won't just be for a couple of months and the stores would be free. My main store The Whetemore Group will anchor the market.

    Also traffic at my sim explodes in August, September, and October as people get ready for Halloween so I think creators would benefit from satellite sales :)

    I am trying out a new market business model on my RP GCS demonic horror themed sim and need to market it accordingly.

    Now I know consumer traffic is way down directly affecting the economics of Second Life and as such, it can be hard for content creators to afford and maintain their rental tiers. So I am thinking about offering free retail space for qualified content creators whose products align with the theme of the sim.  

    The objective here is to create a one stop shopping destination for demonic and horror fans and hopefully entice a steady flow of qualified consumer traffic. The strategy behind the free retail space is essentially a means of "Papering the House" if you will, or populating the Horror Market aspect of the sim and ensuring tenancy longevity.

    I am already paying for the sim so critical primary revenue infrastructure is not required in order to support the sim. However, secondary and tertiary revenue streams are identified as increased traffic flow into my store located on the sim, Ad Boards, and non-obligatory tenant donations if tenants are experiencing satisfactory sales and would like to express their appreciation for the free store. And of course there are visitor donations.

    So does this sound like a viable business model? Has anyone tried this before, if yes, how were the results? 

    What and where would be the best way to market this?

  11. All I did was post (1 post) an offer to help people out, by giving them some relief from over priced rentals with a new business concept and model and you delete my post and slap me with a SPAM warning!

    Is this for real? LOL- how about I end my paid monthly subscription and 10 + years with SL.... need to chill with the forum moderation.

    So tell me why can land sales and land rentals be discussed, heck they even have their own dedicated boards but I can't discuss a novel approach to a retail opportunity that would help people in these tough economic times in SL on a board specifically for that purpose "Discussion area for inworld and Marketplace merchants to exchange business and marketing ideas."

  12. I recently bought into the DCS system based on claims on their web site of "4,000 configured Regions and over 175,000 unique players" However, their stats dramatically fall short of reality...

    So I am wondering what the Best Combat Meter is with the most active community as I want to incorporate combat on my Sim.

  13. With that logic, not everyone exeperiences winter either :P  But it is clearly stating "Holiday Fun" and yes winter "Decorations" ... LL has made an attempt to be politically corrected by omitting any reference to Christmas which in itself is an afront to the billions of people who do celebrate Christmas but the Inference is obviously Christmas!  And I would be willing to wager there are more people in SL celebrating Christmas than those who do not...

  14. Never in all my years in Second Life (since 2006) have I experienced inventory issues and avi clouding like I am currently experiencing!

    1: I have been unable to resolve my avatar clouding with the usual fixes. (Been over an hour)

    2: The folders containing my outfit elements that I was wearing when I logged off  last night are empty as are two other folders that containained outfits that I was wearig prior to my last change and when I first logged in this morning the current Outfit folder was also empty.

    3: My abilty to right click a folder and select the "Replace Current Outfit" option functions intermittently

    4: Hundreds of items in my Objects folder are missing including shapes and skins.

    5: All my HUD settings have been changed

    6: Editing Appearance, shape, outfit functions intermittently

    7: Detaching items results in an error message stating there are no parts to it to detach when it is clearly attached

    I am at a loss as to why my inventory and avatar are being affected this way. Please advise. TY.

  15. Looking for an experienced script writer to modify an existing script I have to resolve a temp rezzing directional issue .. paid gig.

    I have an object containing a rezzer script in the root prim that is range sensor triggered. It plays a sound UUID when the object within is rezzed.  Variables I can edit it x,y,z, positioning along with rot variables.  However, I can't seem to make so that the object that rezzes is always facing the right way regardless of where the primary object is placed in game...
