Thanks for this Lexie - it's nice to see we are listened to. Now lets hope this can be a fairly positive place, a new GD perhaps - but a bit friendlier. Fingers crossed.

So far I think it's doing ok - just four wee things (most already mentioned by others I think)

 

1. Light grey on white can make it very hard to read.
2. I agree with Wil - it's hard to figure out who is replying to whom.
3. The smileys - I'd prefer a bigger choice and the selection panel is tiny - I can hardly see them.
4. The old GD forum became a mess but I'm hoping a more civilised version will emerge in days to come.

Other than those I like it so far - it's deffo better than jive.

Yup - so far that's what I miss the most - the old smileys - these ones are quite crap and so tiny I can hardly make them out.

That's what I meant really - what makes SL 'entertaining' is the interaction between people (represented by avatars). Without people SL would just be a sort of virtual Lego set (with better colours). It's the people that create the entertainment - either here on the forum or inworld.

Personally I'm hoping that 'entertainment' remains the overriding ethos and that it doesn't descent to the 'dramatic depths' we too often witnessed in the old GD.

Overall - so far so good, I like it well enough. I do find the light grey writing on white background a bit hard on my eyes though so maybe a little bit of choice re colour schemes would be nice if possible. Otherwise I'm liking it so far.

(Entertainment may become a more civilised GD replacement I hope).

I imagine Entertainment will probably emerge as the nest GD - I mean apart from discussing clubs, pubs and concerts (yes I'm being a tad facetious) what else could one talk about in this section - apart from the things that make SL (and the forums) actually entertaining.

[How many time a sim owner have to come and set a land rented?]

Just a note of advice for future use - before paying rent on new land - IM the owners (designated people) to make sure they are online before you pay. If they are you're set, if they're not then at least you know you will have to wait to get things sorted and the decision is yours.

As everyone else has said - they will/should repay the rent for the period the land was unusable. If they don't - well you know who to avoid in future.

[What's Emerald used for now?]

Unfortunately there's quite an amount of people from SL - many who have participated in these forums when the 'emerald thing' was at it's most prominent and I can guarantee you they will now be either:

1 - making their way to a virtual world that obviously 'knows what people want'

2 - fuming that SL was so stupid that now some little back-water grid will get the 'best viewer'.

Life is like that - in the end you believe what you want to - Emerald devs do spin a good story - the thing is in 12 months time many people won't remember any of the furore that went on in SL and will swallow the whole thing hook, line and sinker.

[How the heck does one do this?]

In RL people have to work through issues in relationships - including (irrational) jealousy. SL is slightly less problematic in solving these issues, ask yourself - do you really want to be 'attached' to a virtual bf/husband who has trust problems of this level?

Sounds to me like he's looking for a way out, and wants to be the 'innocent' party - dump him and move on. It may hurt a bit now - but not half as much as if you let him get under your skin like this.

Hi

First - make sure it was Mainland you bought. If you bought Estate you are actually 'renting' from another SL Resident and your 512 will never count against your rent.

After you check that feel free to come back and if it's still a problem I'm sure someone will help.

[What's happening with avies?]

Just a few points - firstly they (the accounts suspended) aren't responsible for paying tier - I am - and it's paid. Secondly - if you're locked out of your account you can't access it so you have to come on as an alt - and guess what - LL won't talk to anyone apart from the id in question. So live chat is sort of defunct - even if you upgrade your noob alt to a prem. So phones it is. Last time this happened it took 10 days to sort and the person lost all their inventory - and no - no compensation or indeed adequate explanation from LL.
