Tough call! I love the Atoll best as far as appearance goes, but Sansara has Bay City, where so many of my friends are (and I've been part of that community for over 10 years now). So I guess it depends on whether we are voting based on looks or sentiment!

I just bought 2 protected parcels on Atoll. I love it. Been exploring already. Been on a train and had a drive. I hear its the continent with the best transport system

I think LL doesn’t need land donated per say, as they already are in care of all that Abandoned Land.  Anyone who pays anything to LL is paying for that Abandoned Land in some way as it must be kept online because it is attached to the rest  contiguous Mainland.  If a landowner makes a road and pays tier for it to be open to the public… that is more like donating because the tier fee is the long term running cost of keeping that land online and that’s much more costly than just paying some L$ for land.

However, if we buy the land from Governor Linden and turn it into manageable parcels which each have access to a Road which connects to a Protected road, I do think LL would seriously consider making your homemade road a Protected road as that would be more likely to keep those parcels from being Abandoned again because they would be more attractive to buyers and sellers.

I also think it’s important to make your homemade road as practical as possible so the LDPW will have something to work with. if you file a JIRA request you may need to ask others to support your request so it should have broad appeal and provide access to all parcels and be open ended so it can be added to as the community grows in more and more Abandoned Land.  I really like the way Bellisseria leaves space between parcels and I think most people do also so that will be something important to consider also… who will pay for any land between parcels and will it be landscaped or Abandoned.

Any amount of land which remains consistently paid for by Residents tier will be a cost that’s no longer absorbed by LL and that will eventually be reflected in lower tier rates, so Lets Do This!  Revitalize and develop some Abandoned Land and the whole of Mainland will be more valuable and attractive to Residents.  Mainland is the largest contiguous virtual land mass in the known universe and it is unique among all virtual platforms.  It’s SO BIG and no one can own it all… make a piece of it your own. 🏠 🥰

i kind of do this already. I spend my time travelling the mainland looking for abandoned land thats preferably protected on one side by a road a railway or waterside. If i like the land and surroundings ill submit a ticket to Linden Labs and ask them If I can claim it.  I'll then split it into 1024sqm and put one of my houses on the parcels of land. Ill build a driveway that connects up to road or a station that connects up to the railway and ill always try blend in with otger builds that surround me At the minute I've got a 1024sqm and a 2048sqm Parcel Next to the railway. Imperial in Heterocera Attoll. I'm waiting for a reply about a 2048sqm roadside in Achemon again in Heterocera

You will lose the land one way or another. If you don't want to pay your premium subs, try to sell the land. The  quick way to sell it off is contact land dealers and see if any are interested, though they won't pay top dollar. (The only one I can remember the name of off-hand is Marks Land. There are lots of others).

You could try just putting it on sale, and maybe IM your neighbours to alert them. People often want to expand their plots. Also, create a post in the land for sale section of this forum.

Otherwise, abandon the land before your premium runs out, or you risk getting a 'bad rep' with the Labs because of unpaid bills, and you may well be blocked from logging in until it's paid off.

At a quick glance, I don't think this is much of an improvement - it's still only 4GB of RAM, and the CPU doesn't seem very fast (which could really be an issue as it doesn't appear to have a separate GPU).    I would suggest looking for one that is at least the specs suggested above by Henri, if at all possible:

Seems to run faster and have no issues with the viewer. Need to test properly and go somewhere busy. But the issues I had with previous laptop were horrible. Took like 5 minutes for firestorm to load up. Now it loads within a minute.

  6. someone want to check over these specs for me as i took the laptop back and got what i hope is slightly more indate

That is a bottleneck,  3.6gb useable ram. windows will eat up 1.5 to 2gb on it's own. so that leaves less then a gb of ram to play with, as there are overhead reserves,  even with a dedicated card, that's not going to do much of anything, as you are choking out the processor and system ram, which means everything starts swapping to disk constantly, which means SL is not going to be have at all.

Thanks for this answer. Yeah so if I upgrade the memory that should sort the issue out. How comes though at times I get no problem at all and it runs really well

@kevin Jerrold I am seeing a problem even from those limited specifications you published.  Running a 64 bit viewer with less than 4GB RAM is unlikely to work.  The viewer will try to access a great deal more than 4GB in fairly ordinary operation and it you have ANY other applications running, including but by no means limited to your antivirus application, you will most likely get a "not responding" message from the viewer.  The CPU, with integrated graphics is never going to provide you with more than a basic view of SL but it is the low RAM that is killing your viewer(s).

Thanks. This laptop is dedicated graphics. Does that not help.

  10. I've been using SL on and off for 11 years and still find the viewers so unstable. Most of my time is spent Not Responding. Sort it out Linden Labs. I've changed laptops Internet connections turned everything down to minimum and still get the Not Responding Issue.

We spend good money on SL and still you give us a viewer with lots of buggy issues.

Sort it out otherwise I'm closing my account and will advise others to do the same.

From your perspective what do you make of competitors who seem to just be collecting it ?

I can understand people collecting 1 bit of land in each Continent and then turning it into a rental property. But I can't see the point in holding onto empty land due to the monthly cost of tiers. I know people who have made an initial investment of a couple of hundred dollars in order to own land. This person made 1 initial investment and is now earning enough to cover his outgoings.

I think land flippers/barons are on the highest tier level 65.536sqm which is a full Region of land in all different places its costing them 175$ every month and I'm on the understanding that when you own the 65.536sqm which is a huge amount of land. I don't think you're allowed to earn anymore unless you buy a private island.

Was hoping to totally eliminate any chance for error on my part.  But I do have an idea; I have an alt I use as a model; she has ZERO L$ transactions so it could all go to her, and then I would know for sure that nothing gets lost.  But I'll keep watching this space to see if anyone knows of a direct donation alternative!

Have a read of The Linden Labs Statement on Ukraine. Might find a charity that they are working with.

This question can be taken any way you want.

For me, it's waiting for my SL neighbor to let me know if she wants to buy my land & then to actually buy it, so I can go get 2 Linden Homes instead.

How much land and how much are you selling it for.

  14. I wouldn't consider myself as a land flipper but I do enjoy buying and selling land. Gives me a little buzz when I eventually make a sale. It costs money to hold onto land so the more land you have the more tier you have to pay. I give you a couple of sales examples.

    1. The other day I bought an adult Parcel for 4100L$ I put it straight back up for sale at 4999L which would of made me a small profit on what I spent. I thought I'd sell it quickly. But no one seemed to want it. So I reduced it back down to what I paid for it so I didn't have to hold onto land.

    2. Last night I bought land but was a kind of weird shape/size bought for 2500L$ today I bought the plot next door which was a little more expensive but joined together it makes quite a nice plot of land and instead of 3024qm its now a 5408sqm and is protected roadside
