I'm only on page 18, but I've read enough thus far to make this particular comment, I think. (I'll continue reading after this too, of course)

I know a lot of creators. I know a lot of people that sell things, but maybe aren't creators, they resell, especially gachas. Some of my creator friends make a decent chunk of change (in my opinion, and theirs) on gachas. I'm not a huge fan, never really have been, they're all well aware of that fact, lol. Absolutely none of them are freaking out about this as much as some of the people here are. A couple of them make way more on gacha item sales than they do their regular items. Want to know what they're all going to do now, because of this change? They're going to do what most reasonable creators (for those who create) would do and now sell those items that sell in gacha machines in either packs or as individual items. I know, nifty concept, they get to sell what they're already selling or making, the same way they always did before gacha became a thing in sl to begin with. Those who are resellers will sell up what they have, and at least one of them is working on learning how to create, the others will probably find other means to make whatever money they might now lose out on. But none of them are seeing any of this as a problem. In most cases, they all have known this would probably happen at some point. It's been a contentious issue for quite a long while now. Any creator worth their salt would at least have done a tiny bit of research into the problem surrounding gachas, lootboxes, games of chance, etc.. when it was made more widely known (which it did a long time ago).

No creator is going to lose their livelihood over this, that's just ridiculous to even suggest, lol. Resellers may get hit, eventually, though not likely anytime soon. The folks who just sell some here and there aren't relying on gacha sales for their sl livelihood in the first place, lol. Creators aren't going to get hit as hard as some are suggesting, they just might have to change how they sell things, which isn't a bad thing at al. Gachas have created a weird stagnation in how things are sold to begin with, I'm surprised LL held on this long allowing them, really. Now creators can go back to selling things the way we always did before these things became the "in" thing here. If prims are an issue for inworld sellers, they can use vendors. They can sell individual items, they can sell packs, they can do whatever the heck they want as long as they're transparent on the what and how much of every sale (ie, what you're buying, what you're paying). It's not rocket surgery people! Sellers have never struggled with figuring out how to sell their wares the way people seem to suggest the removal of gachas would cause (well, the way the folks in this thread suggest it would cause, anyway).

There is no reason why creators will have to, or even will, start changing the permissions they set on their items. Maybe some creators will start going back to the old way of selling multiple versions (copy/mod, or no copy/trans, for example) to appease everyone. MP won't suffer, it might in fact, over time, help clean it up a bit, although with as many gachas as are out there now, it's going to be  along while before we see that cleanup, lol. The sky's not falling, this won't be the end of sl, creators aren't going to get driven off the grid. Creators can still make and sell their wares, and we'll all be okay.

    Thank You!

People acting like it's the end of SL. The SL world turned just fine before gachas became a thing. Guess what, it's going to turn just fine when they are gone. Some creators have already solved the problem. They've already taken out their gachas and set them out individually and sent out notices announcing it. It's okay everyone, the world will not end.

    again:

The breedable NEEDS the food to be ABLE to breed (aka "getting in the mood", they will die without it or similar, a lot breedables have that). So yes, technically you do pay for it to be ABLE to breed coz else a breedable might die or cant breed at all.

Technically, you are paying for the food, to keep them alive and healthy, regardless of how you choose to view it. You can choose whether to breed them or not. It's not the random baby you're paying for. And, when you buy an animal on the market, you know what you are getting.
The part in question, related to breedables, are the creators selling starters that may give you a common starter or a rare starter - or LE's that may give a common or rare. Nothing has been stated in reference to that yet, but I am sure at some point it will be addressed. It's also not a hard fix either, so really not a big deal.

I haven't read the whole thread but my only question is what happens to gatchas that are inworld and the makers have gone and the store is a zombie?

Also, I feel sad that a lot of the stuff that was in gatcha will probably just go away.

Anybody have an answer to my question?

Are you referring to stores where the creators are rarely on to monitor their store or no longer creating new items? The answer to that is simple. If they have gachas out, they will have to be picked up. It's their responsibility to keep up with the current TOS and abide by them.

Why do the items have to go away?  It's ultimately up to the creators whether they want to continue to sell it in the allowed way, or retire the items.  Some stores have already started to set them out. This is what I would expect most stores to start doing, if they want to continue making money off the items.  However, if they choose to retire them, then we'll live.  Stores retire older items all the time.  Many stores also offer Limited Time offers and Exclusive Event items as well, that are gone after the time period or event is done. You know the old saying, nothing lasts forever.

    depends how it's seen...
You don't pay for to get offspring, you pay for keeping the breedable healthy/alive. People háve the original (parents).. gacha buyers have nothing.

There are loads of markets with the traits of the offsrping bundles/nests or whatever its called.
Gacha/random is often mainly used to get rid of useless offspring.

    Exactly.

So many people are freaking out about their breedables. Breeding is not a gacha....unless you're selling your babies in a vendor that gives a random item for pay, then yes, your vendor will now be against the TOS. .  Set them out individually priced, and if someone wants to buy them, then they know exactly what they are buying.
Breeding itself is a simulation of exactly what they are called, breeding. Just as in RL, you are paying to feed the animals and keep them alive/healthy for breeding. You also have the choice not to breed them.  You make the choice of what parents to mate, knowing the possibilities of that birth. When you buy a baby from someone, you know which baby you are buying. So no, they are NOT the same.

Now, where I COULD see this being impacted, is any breedable where you buy the starter item from the creator's store, and has possibility of a normal starter, or a rare starter. Then, yeah, I can totally see how that would be a concern.  Or an LE where you may or may not get a rare LE or get an overly common one. But, this is also something the creator could fix.

LL is not liable for what residents do in world. If they were, the whole company would be locked up for the screwed up crap people do to each other.

They ARE responsible for what they do and do not allow in their Terms of Service. If people decide to go against it, and many do, then they run the risk of being reported and having their content deleted and possibly being banned from SL.

Uh...... So it could take up to a month to process credit now? I'm confused about this statement. 3-5 business days is what it's always stated before. Now, up to a month????? Or do they mean it could take up to 30 days for them to approve that you are who you prove yourself to be? That's still a really long time, especially for so many people in SL that their income from SL is their RL income. Does anyone know of an explanation of this?

EDIT: NVM, just saw the post below mine & found part of the answer
How long will it take to process my credit request? Is it going to take longer than usual with Tilia?
We anticipate that the usual time to process credit, currently two to three business days, will not change for most Second Life Residents once your identification documentation has been verified.

  12. If you're just wanting to RP reading to an audience, but don't want anyone to actually be there listening, maybe set up the scene you're looking for on your land and just add in some fake mesh or animesh avatars (the animesh avis move around, they're super realistic)? Or, maybe finding a place themed like you desire that allows rez, and setting up your own avis?  There's also some Bot services that use SL avatars and can be programmed to say things at certain times. although you would have to pay for each one so it would be pricey to have multiple ones.

  13. Okay, I think that is brilliant. And, I agree, I do not see anything "intensely violent" about it either. You can barely even see what I'm assuming is blood? 😄 If LL hasn't cared about it being there after 3-4 years, I doubt this one person's "killer of all things fun attitude" is going to make them care now. I say keep it there 😂
