  2. Thank you! Now, I'm nowhere even near a beginner so I'm not quite clear on how I direct the object touched to rez the new object directly at my coordinates. Is there something else I need to enter into that script to do that? I'm thinking of something that works like an Intan poseball rezzer. No matter where you touch the intan, the poseballs rez right by you.
  3. Here's what I'm looking for: Example: I click on a prim box and another of the exact same boxes rezzes next to me, at my location (might be 10m away or 20m). Is there an already existing script or tool that will do this for me? Any help will be sooooo appreciated, thank you!!!!!
  4. The entire scenario is that I purchased this room of furniture and hadn't used it in awhile. When I went to my inventory to find it, it was gone (not sure how deleted but gone, nonetheless, it was gone). Knowing the prices of furniture at this store, I assumed (yes, my mistake) that it was copyable. I found out it wasn't and really was astonished. Now, also, I re-purchased the entire room of furniture as a gift for a friend (this is where I was going to rez it, originally) because it's lovely furniture. I never, not once, believed I'd be banned from the store for a negative review, ffs! This behavior is beyond childish especially when real $$ are at stake. And I do not owe anyone an IM before a negative review. This store owner is not my friend, she's a business person in SL and deserves no more courtesy than I'd show a business with a bad practice in RL. However, when I take an item back to a store in RL with a complaint, they NEVER bar me from the store and lock the doors so I can never get in again. I guess that's the perk of SL, business owners can be shrewish children with no consequence.
  5. My review was about the item being overprices AND No Copy. So no, not bananas.
  6. I left a negative review of a very popular home and furniture designer's creation (wicker outdoor furniture set) and stated it was because they charged entirely too much for a no copy item. My review was removed and I was banned from the sim. I find this outrageous and petty. I'd love to put the creator's initials here but actually like their work. I've purchased TONS of items from her but am now banned because maybe her feelings were hurt. This is pathetic.

  8. If you have created a group, is there a way to make membership temporary with an automatic expiration time period. For example, a person joins for two weeks and after that time has lapsed, they are automatically (without a live person actually ejecting them) ejected? Thanks!!
  9. Can anyone tell me how you, instead of having a Linden home as your Premium acct. home/land, obtain commercial land in its place? I don't want the Linden home/parcel because it's only residential. I DO want a commercial parcel instead. How do I do this? Thank you!!!
  10. Does anyone know if Linden Labs has any intention of fixing the COCOA bug that has such an awful impact on Macs? Apparently, the COCOA bug is some huge flaw in their code that makes SL almost unplayable because it sinks the fps so low that you can barely move or type. I know Mac users are of less value to LL so I'm curious if anyone knows anything about this. The Firestorm team is extremely responsive and helpful about this but they can only do so much because it's a LL based bug and flaw. Thanks for any info on it!!
  11. Does anyone know of an inventory storage system in SL that allows you to file items in their original folder? For example, you can drag and drop items into just about any storage system but, as far as I can tell, you can't drag the original folder full of items into a system. Has anyone heard of such a thing? Thanks!!
  12. I'm in involved with a school that teaches English as a Second Language that is located in Second Life. Am I allowed to post an ad for that in any of the forums here? I don't want to overstep any boundaries by doing so. Thank you!
  13. Yes, they are related. As it turns out, there are bugs in the system that have surfaced because of the amount of resources each computer needs to use to render mesh, a serious bug is that it causes text input lag. This isn't an unrelated issue. And now that LL has decided to build a new toy to play with and are leaving a small team to do tech support for this SL, I'm guessing we won't get any relief from this at all. This is what happens when you cobble programs together and the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.
  14. Thank you for all the info! The low fps is extremely frustration and I'm compensating for a bug in LL's code for Macs. I'm using a brand new iMac and not a low end one but SL is still a mess for me. They really need to get their s**t together in LL and quit cobbling bad code upon bad code. It's a disgrace already.
  15. Thank you so much! I'm not even skilled enough to be called a novice so your input is greatly appreciated. In the past, I have gone the "make the doors phantom" and just walked through them, lol. It's certainly not as realistic but, in a pinch, it works fine.
  16. Hi, I have a couple of questions for you builders. One is about texture size/resolution (not sure of the right term for this) and the other is about automatic door opening scripts. 1. Does anyone know of high quality homes in SL that do NOT utilize 1024x1024 textures? I need them lower because textures that high tank my fps to the point of making SL unplayable. Mesh is loaded with textures this high so that's a huge problem. I'm on a new Intel Mac with NVidia card that can handle just about anything else graphically challenging EXCEPT SL and the use of these textures. It's crazy. 2. I have several automatic door opening scripts, any suggestions on the best and easiest to use? It seems home builders in SL have an avoidance to them and it's difficult to find a house that has them. Thank you for any input!!
  17. Hi to anyone who will listen, Does anyone know if the goal of the "survey" about the Marketplace is to take in the information and then implement it? As far as I can tell, every tweak of the Marketplace just makes it worse and slower. How is this possible? Are the people who originally programmed the Obamacare website now working for Linden Labs? HOW, how can it be this messed up? It is slow, times out routinely, incessant claims that things can't be added to your shopping cart when, in fact, several have been added. The Search parameters are archaic and resemble nothing even close to a workable engine meant to deliver what we're looking for. LL is not running some highly sophisticated site here so I can't figure out at all why it would be that every "maintenance" session results in a worse product. Does ANYONE know when any of these issues will be fixed or have people just given up already?

Innula Zenovka wrote: -The arrival of a new CEO always has some of us who create "Adult Content" in SL feeling a bit nervous, since some of your predecessors have given the impression they find us rather an embarrassment and that they'd rather pretend we weren't around. Some of us still have rather bitter memories of how we were packed off to Zindra. Your immediate predecessor always seemed to me, at least, reasonably supportive of SL's Adult Content market, in that he made us a lot more visible and seemed content for LL to work with projects like the Adult Hub, in which I'm involved, who provide an orientation and resource centre for new people who are particularly interested in Adult SL. Do you have any particular views on Adult SL? Are we, in your view, a welcome part of the economy who help attract new customers, or would you rather we had a lower profile? /me adjusts her D-K Effect hat to achieve the most flattering effect . . . I find this a fascinating subject, and it's certainly one that has come up before. There's little doubt that the adult market is an important part of the SL economy, I think -- Linden Lab will know better than we exactly how important. And I don't think that there's anything wrong with that at all, although I have always suspected that those who focus narrowly on this side of the "SL Experience" tend to overestimate its importance. I think we need to keep the "adult" in Second Life because, generally, it enriches the culture and content here. By that I personally don't mean the sex shoppes and clubs, or the adult role play (although obviously those are important to many), but rather the greater freedom that it permits everyone -- artists, creators, and just everyday wanders -- for expression and experience. SL would be much impoverished by a puritanical approach to content. I also don't think that SL should "hide" its adult content; that would be both self-defeating and frankly dishonest. Let's be forthright about what this place is, and what happens here. That said, the "adult" end of things here is only one part of what goes on, and what can be done here, and I have frankly been dismayed by the apparent tendency of LL's marketing to focus overly much on the sex/romance side of things here, as though we were a better class of IMVU or one of those adults-only virtual worlds like RC (does that even exist anymore?) I think it does a disservice to the other amazing things that happen in SL, and I think, frankly, it's a turn-off for a great many people. It certainly reinforces some rather negative stereotypes about the platform. Surely clever marketing can target diverse audiences? It must be possible to market the adult experience in places where that is likely to be received well, while focusing on other sides of Second Life -- the creativity, the art, the communities -- in other places? Isn't that what Facebook's and Google's algorithms are supposed to achieve? (Even if they don't achieve it very well.) The biggest objection I've had to LL's marketing strategy since Rosdale left the first time is the tendency to treat SL as a one-size-fits-all experience. It's not. That's the whole point of this place, as a digital sandbox, it can be many things. It can be almost anything. We don't want to be swamped by people just looks for the seks. And, at the same time, we don't want to lose that side of things either. Surely it is possible, on a platform as flexible as Second Life, to cater to all, and, almost as importantly, to market the whole range of experiences to nice markets where they are likely to be appreciated?
  19. I know that LL has been conducting a survey to determine what residents would like from the Marketplace and that's great. Does anyone know when any sort of action might take place to improve the dreadful situation with it NOW? I really just don't understand how thousands of other shopping websites can conduct business in a timely fashion and the LL Marketplace is about as slow as an old dial-up connection (and not even a 56k connection). Any info would be greatly appreciated.
