I remember, many years ago, we found a bug where you could run at somebody and jump at them, and if the top corner of their physics box hit the bottom corner of your physics box, they would overlap just enough to cause the person you jumped at to be thrown across the sim, even if pushing was turned off.  You know, kinda like if you rez a few prims on top of each other, then turn them all physical at once.  I'm pretty sure this was pre-havok, so IDK if it still works like that.

That doesn't happen anymore for sure. As niche as that sounds, it's a situation that I run into a lot on a regular basis and would've experienced it. 😋

We have? Scene import already works somewhere??

    Here, currently: https://github.com/secondlife/viewer/releases/tag/Second_Life_Release%238465a8a-pmfp

If you're reading this in the future, the above link and below information will be out of date.

To import a glTF scene: Develop - Render Tests - Preview glTF scene

Some details off the top of my head:

    • The scene is imported similar to local mesh, it hangs off of a surrogate prim (which affects the scene's scale/rotation). 1x1x1 prim will import the scene at 1:1 scale.
    • There's no size limit, scenes can be miles wide (limit TBD).
    • There's no limit on faces/textures/triangles (as intended).
    • The scene nodes can be animated and meshes can be skinned to nodes (skinned meshes limited to 110 bones for now, no limit for static meshes).

  3. It's a scam. A simple LSL script will send a textbox dialog to you with that message. Anything you type into that box will be seen by the owner of the script.

All blue pop-ups belong to scripts owned by other users.

none of my push toys work very well if at all, even the old freebie orbiters from those freebie places no longer work.   weird this one got orbited.

Orbiters still work and are very easy to make.

As long as either pushing or rezzing is enabled, it can happen.

My account was accessed and everything was deleted of course I put in a support ticket to get it back(my account) but not sure they could do anything about them deleting my inventory. I saw somewhere that you could look at older versions of your inventory somewhere but I'm not sure if that's true

Ask support to "roll back" your inventory. Not sure if that's actually possible, but it's the only way to recover items that have been deleted from your inventory (assuming the trash folder in your inventory was also purged).

Okay, so I solved it somewhat, by starting a 5 second timer event that resets the script every 5 secs, it keeps the pose without easing in if already playing and otherwise it starts the pose again.

Is this an awful practice that will cause sim lag, or is it acceptable for a script?

Instead of resetting the script, you can simply call llStopAnimation and llStartAnimation in the timer event. Resetting the script is technically a bit overkill, but nothing major.

I built my first PC in 1992 and have been a Doom-aholic ever since. I don't consider myself a gamer as such, but have plenty of experience with fx first person shooters. Been pretty immersed in some of those throughout my life. Those are games, even if you engage in a team and converse with people from the other side of the planet..

That sounds pretty limited to me.

Engaging in a team or conversing with people doesn't really factor into what a game is, but if you mostly play shooters or competitive games then I can totally understand the disconnect.

There are lots of games just like SL out there like I mentioned, and they've been there since the 90s in different forms (especially MUDs like Furcadia).

I guess we have nothing to worry about fellow residents. Second Life is not a video game.

This opinion is held only by people with very limited gaming experience. If SL isn't a game, then neither is Roblox, Minecraft, Gmod, EverQuest Next, or a whole bunch of other sandbox games without goals.

If somebody has to post to a forum that the wiki is outdated, then that wiki is not being administered properly.  LL really needs to open the LSL wiki to public editing.  Maybe open edits, with human review would be best.  It's just too big, and too important a job, for the people who are maintaining it now.

Getting edit access to the wiki is not difficult, you can write a one-sentence support ticket for it.

  10. Reborn is great for being modifiable. It has pretty terrible rigging though, especially at the knees (which become sharp as knives if you fold your legs).

Legacy is not worth it if you just want to move from a slim body to another slim body. You'd need better reasons or a huge discount.

Thanks Tessa for the info. I'll look into it now. :)

Edit: I looked at the TVs suggested and others on the MP, but it seems none of them do what I wanted, at least not properly. What a shame. :( I remember back in the day as it were, about 10-15 years ago when this was easy to do. I clearly recall watching YT on TV, when me and my partner at the time were both controlling it and the media was completely shared, albeit with a slight delay between us maybe. I've no idea why this feature has been removed in SL and what the problem is in having it available.

The only thing that's changed since is that visiting other pages of the same domain no longer syncs the URL between viewers.

Eg. If you go to Wikipedia frontpage, all viewers go to that URL (independently, using separate connections). If you then go to a specific Wikipedia page, other viewers will stay on the frontpage.

In other words - SL media has never been fully synced - people have always seen different ads and been able to pause/skip videos without affecting other viewers. This hasn't changed.

I've used Last Pass to store info like that for years.

LastPass is pretty scary to use after recent events (like 4 leaks in 2023), my workplace switched to 1Password and personally I use BitWarden.

once you put in a username and password it auto save when switching alts. that info must be store on my pc somewhere right? or is it sever side?

Your info is saved on your PC but there is no way to import/export it. The info can't even be used on the same PC when certain changes happen to your system.

  13. You used the Limit Buy option, it's not guaranteed to be filled. You get lindens if another user sells their lindens with a matching price (and after other people in the queue get theirs).

You can cancel your order if you don't want to wait.

I am just getting tired of people using AI to make these boring pieces of 'artwork' passing them off as originals and selling them. Then others uhhing and ahhing about their 'talent' If we get AI mesh too I might just be looking elsewhere to spend my leisure funds. In all honesty AI 'art' is not to my liking. Especially since none of it is original just cobbled together from pieces stolen from the internet or fed to them by someone... after being stolen from a real artist somewhere.

Your problem is not with AI, but dishonest people.
