Who can estimate as a general average typical data usage for an hour of SL game play? I need this number to try and come up with a prediction so as to select an ISP plan. Have queried AT&T repeatedly for a record of my past usage but they refused my every request. So I'm down to guessing. I'll be moving soon and want to take SL with me (as I've been a resident since 2008). But DSL and cable do not reach my house...only dial-up can I get by wire. Satellite is out of the question due to PING latency, I'm informed. So now I must decide among G3 and G4 providers via mobile hotspot...either that or do without. Very distressing.

Closing on a new house in one week. Only Internet there is via G4 cell network from Sprint or Verizon or else Exede satellite. Neigbhors report iffy coverage from the cell towers. That and the monthly caps on bandwidth are dreadful. So I'm considering to go with Exede on their new Viasat1 at a nice "up to" 12Mbps and 15BG/month. The question now is ping latency. Waiting for Viasat to answer what I can expect from there. Now I need to know what is required here. Is there a limit? Is it 100ms? 150ms? or what?

I am having identical problem. None of these work: Rebaking; Clearing cache; Rebooting PC & modem; Choosing default avatar. Oddly, if I choose editing appearance, such as skin, etc all the menu textures such as for pigments (light & dark) even with a default avatar, are psychedellic squares. I am using the latest, official SL viewer on Windows Vista on a Dell M6300 workstation laptop. All I can see of myself as the default avatar Male Explorer are prim objects: hat, collar, belt, whip and boots. Other than that I can see my eyeballs, but they are pixelated. Doing a texture rebake made all other parts invisible. Prior to the rebake the now-invisible parts were psychedelic half-transparent. Sometimes those parts of me look inside out or banded. Sometimes they look like a Star Trek transported person stuck half-way. I've been in SL since 2008 but this issue is getting to be frustrating enough that I almost want to just quit. If not for my SL GF, I would have already.
