  1. Took me a few minutes but .. i have had an AHA! moment LOL that is the missing piece.. the obj file!~
  2. Ok ,so I get the technical aspect of what a "mesh" is.. In my comments above I am specifically referring to how it is used and manipulated once in the game. I'm trying to take tutorials on blender but the version available is apparently much changed from 2.49.. sigh
  3. please correct me if i am wrong as some of these (well all of them) are questions. I have no clue what i am doing yet.. which will be obvious. BUT i need some basis of understanding before i can figure this out. THANKS!! :) A. Mesh items are "worn objects" that meld to the avatar frame. B. Mesh Objects can be resized off of the avatar in sl but not while on the avatar?. C. Mesh objects are a static shape once worn and hence the need for alpha layering. D. This one is a question... Can you only wear ONE mesh object as is the case with alphas ?? If so must you create the object as a whole item in Blender OR can you piece more than one mesh together in second life. E. Since a mesh item appears to be an object... is it created out of a prim or on the avatar appearance tab? I'm presuming it is out of a prim... using the sculpted texture box. YES i'm a dope.. but please help me understand the basics .. HUGS! I hope to be creating mesh wedding wear and maternity wear as soon as i have a basic understanding by modifying existing full perm items.. to learn and then create on my own in the next few months.
  4. Wow! I guess i will be changing perms on my items in world LOL!! Thanks for the superb input!
  5. Very funny.. but you are i am sure well aware of the "why" on that. If the item was copy and trans it would carry no value and thus would eliminate the motivation for designers to create at all. A designer spends HOURS if not DAYS or WEEKS on one small item.. so why would they waste their time. You are basically suggesting full perm resellable items... which you can buy ... from some. Lets try to stick to the real question. Sorry, I misunderstood.. You want either option available. well then i will offer an option C above.. sorry for the misunderstanding.
  6. Simple question for customers... Do you prefer your clothing items to be : A. No Copy, Yes Trans or B. Yes Copy, No Trans OR C. To have available the choice of either option. Copy No Trans OR Trans No copy. To keep it simple and since there is no polling option just answer A or B Thanks!!
  7. Yuki, this is a new problem.. and simply put .. if it is trans you replace it with a no trans item.. which is what i have done.. but you dont let it happen if you think it is a conspiracy.
  8. The clothing in my stores originally was all Trans as was the majority of the market when i arrived in 2006. This has changed dramatically in perhaps the past 2 to 3 years. We used to be able to pass along our old clothes to newbs or sell them in yard sales (which happened quite alot and was fabulous) It did in no way effect the market, however there were many many less designers then. As it stands (and i have been reconsidering this in the past 2 weeks) my gorean 8 layer veils are NO TRANs as it is a captured market and i could see that the value of said veils would drop if people were just sending them from av to av. It took me DAYS to make them and lots of money on scripts... so i need to sell a whole slough just to make a penny... The same is true of my maternity line (no trans), however those are very low priced items. My Bridal and formal line as of yet is NoCopy Yes Trans... and has not really been an issue.. but with the standard changing I may change my thought. I can see the value to the designer.. you sell your clothes and the next person has to buy it rather than it being passed along.. therefore you sell more.. however.... it sucks for those of us who like to donate to newbs.. sigh. It pains me to delete old clothes from inventory. BTW.. if you want TRANS Bridal and formal wear check my profile for my landmark. xoxo Grace Winnfield
  9. Thanks everyone!! I bookmarked a bunch of websites and tutorials from this forum and everyone i so helpful.. I'm sure to be watching like crazy!!
  10. HAHA are you serious.. SAG/AFTRA in world!? I daresay that is funny.
  11. OH THANK GOD!! I am a prim torturer, good with manipulating basic and sculpties others have created but miserable at making my own sculpts (so far).. this not hitting fashion fast thing is GOOD NEWS
  12. I want to learn how to make sculpties and work with Mesh. I have been told this could become a big deal for fashion (mesh) and sculpties already are. I need a. Basic help, as i have no experience whatsoever and the times i've tried sculpties i failed miserably. b. To know what free programs i can use to create with. c. Am a relatively fast learner but learn best by detailed instruction and demonstration. I learned to use flex the first week it came out back in 2006 and taught myself fashion design by reading various documents in sl and having a basic knowledge of photoshop. Please contact me IN WORLD with your ideas on how to teach me, what you would charge, and when you would be available. Thanks a ton and have a fantabulous super great day!!
