For Chrome - the easiest way I could figure out how to do it was to download RCDefault App http://www.rubicode.com/Software/RCDefaultApp/ Once installed and opened, click on the URLs tab. In the left pane, choose secondlife and on the right side choose which viewer you prefer. I hope this is what you are looking for.
