I'll go out on a limb a bit and say that I figure since I'm not using their indicia to sell race cars or anything outside of a digital representation that is almost useless outside of the platform it's made for, that it is fair to use. If that's wrong, that's fine. It's not a hill to die on, and as such my works are fairly innocuous. Maybe "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" isn't the best defense, but there's a ton of content that seems to be allowed on MP and in-world that, if you stretch it is in more directly in competition with "real" brands (i.e, a virtual dress after a RW dress designer). As such, my works are intended as a way to show love and support as a fan. In this case for popular and fast F1 motorsports teams.
But as a few of the replies have suggested, there wasn't a message that my content was in violation for using copyrighted material or some IP violation, it was for the use of a
"banned word", which has an entirely different connotation.
As it is, it seems the removal of "Ferrari" (which, by the way is a surname used by many people not directly associated with the car company) has allowed the item to stay.
Thanks for the input, everyone. I appreciate it.
