You can find land for sale in the map. Be sure that the "Land Sale" item is checked. You will see for sale land in yellow with a small "price tag" on it. If you click on that price tag it will show you the size and price. You will get to recognize which ones are closer to 512 after you click a few. Prices vary widely. Some are ridiculously high; others are more reasonable.

Once you find some that you like, go there to see who your neighbors are and if you like the area. You can right click on the land to get info which is where you will have the option to buy it. (Or click on the "Land" menu in the upper left of your viewer.)

This is using Firestorm; I'm sure the process is similar in the LL SL viewer.

...and then i buy it, and then that will be mine, as long as I keep paying premium?  (or do I also have to pay additonal each month?)

TLDR  So did anyone ever find out what happened to Aeros or are we clueless and just chatting amongst ourselves?

Shouldn't chatting amongst ourselves about a 'C*ck shop' be called something like 'Chaturbating'?

For example, BOATAOM has a "Work in progess" which would qualify as middle-aged, in my opinion:

Poema is ... well... a bit beyond the goal, you might say.

I really like this....but sorry to sound like a noobie...but what is BOATAOM?  Is it a store?

....My avatars always look younger but for me it doesn't feel fake. I know everyone uses SL differently and wants different things for their avatar and has different expectations.  My avatar is an extension of myself and true to who I am in terms of my personality etc but the physical stuff isn't because.. well it's SL and I can experiment with the way I look.

Absolutely.  And everyone should use SL in the way they want, and is meaningful to them.  I personally feel a bit uncomfortable looking too much younger in SL than I am in RL.  But I am not suggesting for one second other people should feel the same way...  🙂

Not at all :) I don't mind any feedback.  Good and bad / complimentary or harsh.  It is afterall just a pixelated avatar (it's not really me.  LOL).  So I don't mind hearing all and every opinion, I find them all of equal value.  (although I do find it easy to work out from all the comments which are coming from a male / female persepctive - lol  And I find that interesting) .  And thanks for your time taken to feedback ❤️

Forgot to add, the pronounced cheekbones age her more too. Try a softer face, it's a bit too angular.

Thanks - but mature skins that provide all that addiitonal softness do not exist.  Or if they do I cannot find them?  Please share if you know of any? :)

Even with the smile, I still say 50s to early 60s. The hair reminds me of Cruella Devil so that makes her look older. I think that skin or face shape puts you in the 50s age.

My previous look that I had, I looked 40s. There are quite a bit of skins that look that age but they are from last year and prior years. The new skins this year seem to be younger looking with a lot of shine. So, you should look at skins from prior years.

I'm on my phone but every year there is a skin event called skin addiction. If you go to their site, it lists skin brands. You may find some that you haven't looked at yet.

I have looked everywhere.  And cannot find any decent skins that look more mature.  So if you know of any specifically...do please let me know / give me the SLURL.  I cannot find any of the types of skins you suggest exisit.  The only place is POEMA - and that's the skin I am wearing.  So let me know of any specific other ones.  I challenge you :)

Actually, with the smile and from this distance, she looks really good, the neckline too, makes her look late-40s, on the cusp of menopause. (I love the jumper and the tights - I really am loving the autumnal oranges this year more than ever).

Thanks Marigold.  And by the way  - the sweater and leggings, free from COCO.  In their free gifts stand.  (not sure I am allowed to share that kind of info in forums.  But hey great quaility free clothes.  super duper)

Those smile filters are always a one-way ticket to uncanny valley. There are some fairly decent smile animations in SL (though they work very differently on different heads, so one has to find some that work with one's own head), those don't generally cause the same effect (although due to how lighting in SL works, the teeth often appear very bright - one can either darken one's teeth a little in the head's HUD, or just add some shading in an image editor).

Part of the smile filter is that it increases the definition of your already pronounced cheek bones, which reinforces the .. How should one say .. In-sunknenness of the face, which adds to the 'aged/worn' look.

I haven't looked much at skins in general, it's one of those components of my avatars that I have a really hard time changing as it is such an integral part of their identity, but I do believe that there are such skins around (it's been really popular for a while to make middle-aged male avatars in particular, not sure whether that's somehow related to the endemic of babygirls on the grid!). Other than that, you can modify your appearance with various 'imperfection' layers (check out Izzie's, she's got tons of them - including ones specifically for aging your avatar!).

Evo X Age Spots, Frown Lines, Crow's Feet & Forehead Lines

When you say 'Smile Filter' - no idea what you mean?  What is that?

Also - that image above, still to me looks like a (very) young woman, but just with a frown and a few crows feet,.  For ME an an older look has to be more than just some 'addons' around the eyes.  And i do like IZZIES stuff.  Great for small enhancments.   But what I need -  it needs to be a complete skin.  Preferably both full head AND matching body.

But impossible to find - thats what I mean.  (And i am guessing this is the same for men?)

But if you know of some as you suggest you do...please share, as I'd love to try them.

But as it stands, I cannot find  - either in world or in market place any full face/head skins (preferably also with a matching body skin) that is a typical (or slighly above average looking) middle aged woman.

Only ones I find are 'charicatures of older women' - such as comedy old people, or witches, hags, or that sort of thing.  Nothing 'normal'.

But I can see I am looking older than mid 40s.  I think the hair is not helping.... so going to try with different hair styles too.  I'll keep at it.

    Mid-to-late 50s. Mayyybbbeeeeeee early 60s.

I know this cause the fellow who looks back at me in the mirror every morning wonders who that late 50s guy is starting back at him.

If the OP was shooting for mid-40s she went past the mark by at least a decade or even two, depending on life lived. I only wish I still looked like my mid-40s. ;)

So - I have done another photo using her below....added a smile.  Does everyone still think I look like I am in late 60s, having had a bad drug habit??.  hope not. (LOL)  But 100% happy to get the feedback (bad and good) it really helps me to learn to style my avatar.  Just so wished there were good 'Age 40s' skins.  But there are NONE.  Which is so frustrating given I have been told MOST users of SL are in their late 30s and 40s.  I feel fake wearing the skin of a twenty+ something.  And I don't want to look like 'Wiked Witch of the West' either.

It's possible to look like that in mid 40's if someone has suffered with a bad drug habit for years. Does remind me of a former British soap actress in her late 40's who was addicted to cocaine

Ha - that is funny....just now wondering who you mean.  Presume 'Daniella'?  Lol

Ok, I'll probably get shot for this but I think the avatar face is in 60-65 but the rest of the body meaning neck and top don't match so that makes the avatar not look very realistic to me.  I have no clue if you can find anything that ages the neck and torso but it would look more realistic if you could. Otherwise I'd age her down a few years.

Yes, I know, that is not what you asked. lol

Ha.  not going to be shot down.  i asked for honest opinions.  In fact I agree with you  And I'd prefer to age down my face a tiny bit more.  But can't find anything to do that.   The next step down in skins and shapes seems to be the 30 plus glamour girls.  Nothing at all for the 'mid to late 40s' I was trying to go for.

  14. Could you all help me.  I am trying to create an avatar that represents a specific age.  To help me know if I am getting close, could you all type in the comments how old you think my avatar looks.  Your feedback and honesty would really be appreciated.  Thank you.

I use a feature in LeLutka heads that will ad more mature shading and features.  There is definition in cheekbones and some subtle lines around the mouth area.. Which is all shader magic..  You are right about the older skins though, to me they all look like 60-70ish range.  I shoot for late 40 50 something.. Remember women at this age now do not look like our grandmothers did at this age.  No skin suggestions, as I make my own.. But good luck!

Thank you - and great job on your Avatar.  Definitely the kind of realistic more mature style I am looking to go for.

I don't buy skins that target looking older, but rather use tattoo layers to add details that age my avatar. I have bought lots of skin detail tats from Izzies.  Doing it this way makes it so much easier to get an avatar that doesn't look like anyone else.

That sounds a good idea.  Do you have a link to 'Izzies' or is that a store on marketplace?

  17. Hello all.  I have recently joined Second Life.  Loving it.  I've learned the basics.  And now properly starting to work on customising my Avatar.

But being the 'wrong side of 40', I am really finding it hard to find any skins that reflect my age group.  I am feeling a little bit fake/disengenous wearing a skin that looks more like a 20/30 year old.

So does anyone know any creators or stores that provide good quality 'older female' skins.  Preferably BOM.

I'm not looking to be a caricature (I’ve seen some of the 'jokey' skins, that are more like offensive 'old person stereotypes' .  And I am not looking to become 'granny grotbags' either.)

But just trying to find a nice skin that properly reflects my age.  Still attractive, realistic, etc. And good quality (like the quality you find at Not Found, Session, and Mila.)

If you have any suggestions, please let me know in your reply to this post.  Thanks in advance

A shape can not just shape a head or a body.  It shapes both.  What I do is make a notecard with all my BODY numbers.  Wear the shape that came with the head skin and edit the body with the numbers from the notecard.

Would be nice if shapes for heads and bodies were separate but they are not.

ETA.  I always begin with the shape and browbase provided with the head skin I like.

Thanks for coming back with reply so quickly.

And yes, I'll try that.  So to clarify.  I'll make a note of all the numbers for my body in the 'Edit Appearance'.  then add the Not Found Skin, and then change back the numbers for the body to what I had noted?  (and then save that shape as a personal version?).

  19. Hello all.  I am newish, and my first post, and so please excuse my 'noobness' if this is a ridiculously simple question?

But I am just starting to build my own Avatar, having been wearing the default 'Bitsy' for a months while I get to grips with the very basics of SL.

Anyway - I am trying the KUPRA body, and the Skinny Shape that it comes with (and the Toffee Body Skin option).  I am using a GENUS Free head for now (with BOM turned on and my alphas deleted).  And I have today been browsing the NOT FOUND stored for skins for GENUS.

And with each Not Found Demo is a BOM Skin (which I can add no problem), A Not Found Brow (again I can add no Problem) and a Not Found shape for that particular skin.  But when I wear that shape, it gives my face the exact same look as the DEMO advert picture (which is what I want) , but it also then changes my KUPRA Body Shape to something looking ridiculous.

I then tried adding the KUPRA body shape back, and that returns my body shape to normal/what it was before, but then the face shape no longer looks like it does in the NOT FOUND DEMO.

Am I doing something wrong?  How can you wear a SKIN shape for a face/head, but not have it at the same time alter your BODY shape?  Or is this just not possible?  And it is either one or the other?

And if you are buying a head skin (from somewhere like Not Found) why do they have it alter your body shape anyway?

If anyone can help with my frustration, that would be very kind of you?

    Thanks in advance.
