    Hair Fair 2021 - Noirette
    Hair Fair is an annual event that combines the talents of Hair and Hair accessories creators from all over the grid into this one location for two weeks. The event donates a percentage of all purchases to Wigs for Kids. It started in 2006 and has always been a yearly favorite of Hair lovers and the Second Life community. The event runs from June 18th to July 4th, 2021. More info at hairfair.wordpress.com

    SL18B Welcome Area
    Confused about where to start at SL18B? The Welcome Area is a centralized spot where you can get oriented to all the many community booths and events at the celebration. The event runs from June 17th to July 6th, 2020.
    Visit in Second Life You still have about a week and a half to visit SL18B, check out all the exhibits, go shopping, and pick up around 500 gifts. Use the birthday calendar to see all timings and slurls to the parties over the weekend!

    On Friday afternoons I usually do my Highlights from the Destination Guide blog post where I share some of the latest interesting destinations from that week. However, the tool we use to update the Destination Guide is still in the process of being uplifted, read the details here. It is one of the final updates left for uplift and we are hoping it should be done by the end of next week. 
    Since I haven’t been able to add anything to the Destination Guide, I thought I would share some Art events that you can attend this weekend in Second Life.
     

    The Janus Gallery
    Curated by Chuck Clip, this gallery is named for the Roman god of new beginnings, transitions, doorways, and time. They hope to usher in a new era of art in Second Life while keeping an eye on the roots they came from. Sinful Retreat, on which the gallery stands is a virtual playground where artists are welcomed with open arms. They strive to make a cohesive, evolving environment out of art.

    Windlight Art Gallery
    The Windlight Art Gallery, which is the home of the Windlight Art Fellows, has a new exhibition every month and is part of the Kultivate Magazine family of galleries. For more information, visit: KultivateMagazine.com

    While many of us are still recovering from the winter holidays, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and our shopping itch just won’t go away! 
    Linden Lab is winding up for a Valentine’s Day inworld shopping event - and we’re now looking for Merchants who would like to participate.
    The 2021 Valentine’s Day edition of Shop & Hop will open on Friday, February 5th, and will run through Wednesday, February 17th. This is your opportunity to bring a ton of new customers to your brand, by offering some of your best items. We are looking for Merchants willing to offer a discount on their items (at least 20% off) and provide a small non-exclusive gift to shoppers.

    RoseGarden is the home of LadyRose, decorated to show all four seasons in one region. Each island focuses on the emotion of each season.     The 7th Guest: A Second Life Experience
    The 7th Guest: A Second Life Experience showcases an immersive, encore performance by George Sanger, AKA The Fat Man, of the wickedly entertaining music he created for The 7th Guest in this out-of-the-real-world venue. George Sanger is an American musician who has composed music for computer and video games, beginning in 1983. He is scheduled to perform on this Sunday Nov. 22th at 2pm PT at OD Designs' Sky Porch in Second Life.

    Virtual Black Rock City Week
    As a recognized Universe in Burning Man's Multiverse, Burn2 is having a "VRC Week" in its own virtual Regional environment called Deep Hole. A limited number of visitors will be able to access the event with avatars, and they will find a place filled with things that are strongly evocative of the beloved Black Rock City - with none of the dust, heat, or pungent odors we've known. There will be a Man Burn on Burn Night, and there will also be a rendering of the Empyrean Temple that will burn on August 30th, 11:00 am PT/SLT. The event runs from August 30th to September 7th.     Kairos at The Janus Gallery

    STRUKTURO
    "STRUKTURO" is a sound installation space produced by noise-classical musician Tia Rungray. The concept of his installation space is "the structural decomposition of the human psyche". Based on this concept, he presents his characteristic noise-classical music. Several placed virtual speakers allow visitors to enjoy his music in three-dimensional sound.

    The Warehouse Sale Event is a post-apocalyptic themed region. This is a monthly shopping event that opens on the 23rd.     Lab Gab is a live-streamed variety show that showcases events, destinations, and different talents across Second Life. 
    Join our host, Strawberry Linden, as she speaks with the VP of Engineering, Oz Linden, and Lead QA Engineer, Mazidox Linden. Oz and Mazidox are on the uplift team, which is moving Second Life to the cloud. They will be discussing all aspects of uplift and giving us an update on it.

    This week’s guest is an American singer, songwriter, video, and performance artist that has gained a large following across social channels and in the media with music and a unique style that defies gender norms. Recent coverage for Dorian has included articles in Billboard, Paper, and Rolling Stone. 

    Dorian will be discussing their music career and giving us a sneak peek at a huge multi-region music event that will be held in Second Life to celebrate the release of their latest single and video “Gentleman/M’Lady.”  The event, which is hosted by Onyx the Fortuitous and held in partnership with Club Cringe, will also include live DJ sets from several other established deejays including Dylan Brady, Count Baldor, DJ Chad, KO AKA Koala, BlvckJesus, Coucou Chloe and more. Second Life community members can join the event inworld on August 28th starting at 3pm PT/SLT or watch via live stream on Twitch.

    The Community Virtual Library (CVL) presents an ethnographic exhibit of two lowland tropical rain forest indigenous cultures of the Republic of Panama. The exhibit, designed by Nexus Dot, a cultural anthropologist, in collaboration with co-curator, and media specialist, Shiloh Emmons, highlights two decades of Nexus’s ethnographic research. DB’s ethereal abstract architectural style is blended with a variety of multimedia and artistic techniques and other content to create a unique and powerfully immersive experience. FOCUS is composed of a variety of different spaces that blend seamlessly together, each providing its own special mood and feeling when one enters. Coppelia is a Second Life simulator operated by the eponymous artists’ collective, “CoppeliaSL." The region provides studio and exhibition space for a group of artists that currently includes: Jo Ellsmere, Glyph Graves, Penumbra Carter, Dekka Raymaker, Ultraviolet Alter, DB Bailey, and Cuirec d’Erc.

    Simon's Town Art Gallery at Boulder
    Simon's Town Art Gallery at Boulder hosts exhibits on a quarterly basis from participating visual artists. The gallery's primary exhibits are photographic.     Situated in an urban environment, the GBTH project brings a unique approach to art in Second Life. The city becomes the base to showcase sculptures, illustrations, and interventions made by the Residents on the grid. Four pavilions are dedicated to individual proposals, giving the artist full creative control over their piece.     A mystical and magical land, where fantasy creatures reside. Embrace the fantasy, take a walk, explore, and let your imagination run free.     Lavender Lake by TONAL
    Lavender Lake is a mountainous lakeside somewhere around the Adriatic Sea. A historical farming village, it got its name from the fields of purple flowers surrounding the hills. Before modern influence the locals produced essential oils, fragrances, and even a signature dessert wine using lavender. Now with modern development, homes are adorned along the cliffs overlooking the lake and tree tops.

    Sea Brook is a wonderful place to explore hidden places, ride horseback, lounge on the beach, play games, and more!

    Underwater Cove
    A lovely little undersea area to bring out the mermaid and merman in all of us. You can swim, dance, take pictures, and explore. A stage is set to host events periodically.

    A new art installation by Fiona Fei just opened at the GBTH Project.
    CHUANGHU (Windows) by FionaFei
    Chuānghu is an architectural installation in the style of ink wash. It is a modern take of today's urban environment, especially crowded areas filled with buildings and structures that are close together. In the meantime, it also provides a type of openness, where all the "walls" are see-through, acting as windows.

    The Second Life Book Club is a new series of literary-minded events. The region is currently open to explore and the first show will be on Wednesday, April 8th at 10am SLT. Teleport there early and watch the live show!

    It's October now and we are officially in Halloween season. The submissions for the Haunted category on the Destination Guide are overflowing, so much so that we can't keep up.     Zombie Hollow is a full region adult Halloween experience, with an autumn area, a spooky carnival with rides and games, a ghostly cemetery and church, a haunted house, skeleton fun, and a Zombie City with multi-levels of fun and hidden areas waiting to be found! Be ready to click away tons of items everywhere from cute to spooky to adult. Ideal for photographers. It is open from September 26th to November 1st, 2020. Have fun and Happy Halloween!

    Glitch Motel is inspired by the TV show ''Bates Motel''. A great place to explore and meet new friends. They are voice active, and have karaoke sessions sometimes. Make yourself at home!

    Pumpkin Town is a Halloween Village in Second Life. It was first built in 2010. There are spooky buildings to visit, a beautiful autumn decor with a few spooky surprises. Runs from October 1st to October 31st.

    This beautiful winter wonderland has picturesque scenery and winter activities such as ice skating, sledding, snowmobile racing, dancing, skiing with a ski lift snow fort battle, and bumper tubing. It's a beautiful place to get in the holiday mood!

    Ville de Coeur in Winter
    Six of the eight regions of Ville de Coeur are now covered in ice and snow for the winter. Skate non-stop through four of those regions, the other two being separated only by canal locks. Free ice skates are available in several regions, as well as skis and sleds. Alternatively, use the trolley or walking tour to get around. There are even horse-drawn sleighs.

    Tiptoes Santa's Winter Experience
    Bundle up the little ones before you take a family-friendly trip full of winter activities like sledding, ice skating, and a holiday-themed snow maze. Be sure to also make a stop at Santa's where you will find an advent calendar by Tiptoes for Toddleedoo/Bebe avatars with a new gift daily, as well as Santa's mailbox where you can drop off a letter and await his response!
