  1. I'm not really sure what 'advantage' an invisible avatar would have these days. Back in the day when I did Monthly Midnight Madness, that was definitely a thing that was encouraged, but these days we can make Graphics Presets in the viewer to jelly-doll other's avatars when at shopping events. And as others have mentioned above, you can still see their name tag and locate them in the Nearby Avatars window, so if they were up to mischief they'd be easy to find and deal with. 🤷‍♀️

  2. I used to have a collection of various cybernetic wings, but honestly the novelty of using them wore off after a while. 🤷‍♀️

That's not to say that I don't fly any more, but these days I'm powered by telekinesis, being an alien with a big head. 👽

Alas, said big head also meant I ditched all my old hairpieces as they no longer fitted. 😥

and even after all the years on SL i still only got 6 friends on my list as random stranger requests will be ignored.

I'm a bit more liberal in accepting friend requests, but only a bit — I try to keep my friends list to people I know fairly well at least. Sadly, I had to prune that list last year as a lot of folks were no longer recognisable to me. 😞

Another one of my favorite stores dumping CasperVend. 😥

Speaking of CasperVend, they seemed to be having problems yesterday when I was going around the Cyber Fair. Two items never reached me despite the transaction completing. I went to the CasperVend store and used their redelivery terminal to find those items, they were redelivered successfully. Then I log in today to find a load of CasperVend deliveries waiting for me! 😆 I think they may have constipation?

That some people are too stupid to realise that a user has screwed up a product doesn't feel like an argument for gatekeeping everyone else from 'being who they want to be'. 98.7% of my wardrobe (give or take) is black, and yet I find myself having to colour match stuff because 3 different creators will have 5 different ideas of what 'black' is; if I could just tint the brighter pieces a nudge darker so they all worked together it'd be awesome, but no - instead I have to swap around clothing articles until I find some that do match. And then there's the whole thing about how many creators, even big brands, seem to know about as much about materials as chimpanzees do rocket science.

I've been there too, with a mishmash of different 'pinks'. And I'm still finding things in my inventory and for sale in stores in-world where the baked-in shine and reflections are really noticeable now to my more discerning eye.

I have given serious thought to partnering an alt just to make it clear I am off the market.

Not that partnering stops people, but one roadblock.

Of course, that assumes people will even read that far into your profile. Or open it, for that matter.

(Related: I see a lot of empty or virtually-empty profiles these days. Yes, I'm one of those weird people who still checks those things.)

I'll often just watch the person talking on their phone since they're usually talking loud enough for everyone in the vicinity to hear them.  They'll give me a dirty look as if I'm doing something wrong by listening.  Really?  You're in a public place speaking loud enough for others to hear and don't think anyone will listen?

The people walking down our street with their phones glued to their ears who I can hear almost a block away.  You do realize I now know all about your issues?  And people talk about privacy concerns when they lay out their entire life in public on their phones.

You've reminded me a woman I overheard on a train commute after work one day, having a very animated discussion with someone about the quality of her latest supply of... well, let's just say it rhymes with 'monk'. ;) Then she clocked me side-eyeing her and shut up pretty quickly. 😆

  8. I took the decision last year to cut down on visits to shopping events & sales, with the only exceptions being those that support charities and good causes. (And even then, I'll usually make a direct donation via a kiosk.) I still buy artwork & sculptures from galleries or direct from creator's stores from time to time.

The reduction in inventory clutter has been noticeable! I've had time to organise things and decide what I want to keep, and build up a selection of outfits & looks that I actually use fairly regularly.

But the best decision I took to be my own best friend in Second Life was when I stopped caring about which body or head I should be wearing and just rolled with what works for me. :) Yes, there may not be much new OG Maitreya Lara clothing in the future, but I have more than enough already, and I'm sure there will be plenty of options for Lara X at that point.

Maybe I just need to pull myself together 🤷‍♀️

That's the first time I've ever seen someone having the Flying Parts in their own home. Normally that only appears for me when I TP into a large event with lots of people. 😆😂

    Peeve...social media in General.

I've been off the big social media platforms for several years now — it was not only a time-sink but also super-frustrating thanks to algorithmic feeds hiding stuff I was actually interested in and promoting other stuff I've zero interest in at all. 💢 I tried Mastodon, but decided that I didn't need a firehose aimed at me every hour. So I'm back to following blogs in a feed reader app like I did 20 years ago, and using email to converse with people.

I have Discord for some Second Life stuff — several good communities over there.

  11. Not an avatar per se, but I absolutely adore my SKNK Vasaran mesh head! https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/SKNK-Bento-Alien-Head-Vasaran/19594877

My all-time favourite non-human avatar, though, would have to be the Niramyth Wolfkin — https://marketplace.secondlife.com/s/Female-Wolfkin-Full-Body-Mesh-Wolfman-Avatar/5561788. Needless to say, I modded mine up with blue skin & pink fur, I'm pretty sure I scarred a few people for life just walkin around in that avi. 🤭

If you're referring to the landlord saying, "Have a nice day", it's sad if that statement has come to be seen as passive-aggressive!

I was actually thinking of the neighbour's copy-pasting the entire Covenant into an IM, and not bothering to communicate.

I can sorta-understand landlords not getting involved in minor disputes between neighbours, but maybe just say so instead of "have a nice day"?

Recently on a parcel I rented from a large landlord I started to put some things out of my inventory to resize and consider. I knew the covenant didn't allow certain heights etc I am very used to this particular covenant so I quickly started resizing and placing. I didn't have anything particular in mind I thought let's work out what to do here - I was using very popular building items.

A couple of these had been rezzed for 5 seconds tops when a message from a neighbouring tenant came through. There was no hello just a copy and paste of the covenant rules. I asked if they were connected to the Landlord they said they were not, only they had been watching me rezzing out and wanted to remind me of the rules.

I replied saying thanks but its okay I know what the covenant is and what I am doing - it's not finished, its been out 5 seconds and it may not stay or it may get whooshed up into a skybox I don't know yet its been 5 seconds.

They copy and pasted the covenant again as a response so I told them it was quite rude to be so enforcing over others' stuff within such a short space of rez.

They replied my stuff was ugly, (sorry Studio Skye!).

I made a complaint to the Landlord who told me to have a nice day.

I abandoned the parcel immediately, didn't care to mess with a refund just wanted to be away from such prying.

I also won't rent with that particular branch of big Landlord ever again.

Wow! While that kind of Covenant rule is fairly common, it doesn't justify such a snappy & passive-aggressive response.

I did recently come home this past Sunday to be confronted by a very tall image-border that had been erected by a new neighbour, but it was late in the evening UK time & I was tired so I just logged out for the night. Thankfully the borders were gone the following day, but if they'd still been there I'd have sent the neighbour a polite message pointing out that it was against the Covenant rules.

  14. Looking at the list on the BonnieBots site, I'm surprised at the the number of people still rocking around in older Maitreya Lara mesh bodies (pre-v5.3)! 🤯 I guess that may be because Maitreya don't actively push updates at customers, meaning they either have to visit the store to hit the Redelivery terminal or hit the Redeliver button on the HUD (if available).

Meanwhile, not many Slink bodies out there, so I guess people are only wearing those with older outfits. 🤔
