  1. OK... I seem to have an understanding of why this is happening now. It appears to be a combination of the avatar's outfit type and the display driver for the HD630 Display Adapter.

All my mesh avatars alts would login fine with the new display driver... So I rolled back the driver for the HD630 display adapter to the previous version in Device Manager. I logged in with my problematic account and the login was successful.

I then went back to my slink avatar and clothes held in another outfit and logged off SL.

I rolled forward the HD630 Display Adapter driver again to the latest version and logged back onto SL using the problem account.

It all works now and I'm not going back to my non Slink existence :)

  2. Try logging in with a brand new alt... Worked for me and I'd be interested to know if it works for you. My current theory is this is all to do with your avatar type and clothes.

    See https://community.secondlife.com/forums/topic/429050-stuck-logging-into-viewer-oct-21st-2018/

  3. OK... I think I'm beginning to have a suspect in all this.

I previously stated that the issue affected an alt too. I tried it again and it does BUT just for the hell of it I create a new alt "NLAlt1 Resident". Guess what it all logs on OK with the viewer that I'm having problems with. SL appears to work fine.

So I went back to the other alt and tried again...It didn't work confirming the original test.

So I tried a different existing alt... Damned if that doesn't log in OK.

What's the difference between all these alts? Well the ones that won't login in all have system avatars and clothes. The ones that login in OK are mesh avatars and clothes (apart from the heads).

So why does the normally mesh Nacholibra avatar have a logon issue?

BECAUSE... Just before (immediately before) the issue began to manifest itself I swapped outfits on Nacholibra to an old system body and clothes. I logged out and next day the Nacholibra account can't sign in whereas prior to this I could.

What it doesn't explain is why all these other people had the same problem at the same time. Unless it's an issue waiting to appear as a result of an earlier update to SL or Windows. How many of the other affected users can create a new alt and login?

  4. Also raised a case with LL Support as copied here: (Strangely there is no date showing when the case was raised but it must've been around the 22/23rd Oct.

For two days now I have become "stuck or frozen" when logging into SL. This happen with LL Viewer and Firestorm (in Firestorm, Phoenix and Text modes) using my account or an alt account. I have tried starting with initial scene at home or in last location. I have completely uninstalled Firestorm and cleared all of APPDATA before reinstalling Firestorm and LL viewers prior to retrying the login...all to no avail. My only recourse is using task manager to shut the viewer down.
It gets stuck usually just before it's starting to rez the initial scene although once or twice it has managed to make it to just briefly rez a few objects before becoming frozen.
The account logs in OK to the webpages. The problem has only arisen over the past 2-3 days.
I'm running out of ideas. Does anyone have a suggestion?
    Thanks
    Nacho

I have just uninstalled Firestorm and LL SL Viewer, cleared down APPDATA for the current windows user for both Firestorm AND Second Life Viewer.  I cleared the registry for both programs as part of the uninstall.

I have ONLY installed Second Life Viewer and tried to login. It went as far as starting the rez at my home location before freezing. At this point the viewer locks solid with NO error messages. The connection to the audio music channel for the package appears to be made because I can hear the music streaming but there is no other viewer functionality accessible at this point. The viewer needs to be shut down with task manager.
I'm showing here the available logs PRIOR to terminating the task when the viewer is "stuck". If you're particularly interested in the contents of any file please let me know.
