  1. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond and answer my gazillion questions!:) This helps to clarify a lot for me, I will go back to enjoying my fishing and feeling incredibly grateful to landowners for the lindens and lovely surroundings. I appreciate this group so much! ♥

  2. What do landowners get from the increased traffic? I always wondered this because a lot of them are shelling out a ton of money into their fishing buoys to get traffic, and it would seem like they are losing money every day from having fishing on their land

  3. For some reason I have always been under the impression that it was not okay to use alts in fishing games. I think this may have been a misunderstanding. I really wish I knew this earlier because it took me 35 hours of fishing to save up for a tiny avatar recently, and had I fished with four avatars it would have only taken me 8 hours lol

  4. In looking at the terms of service for various fishing games, there does not appear to be any rule against using alts while fishing (except for Alienum which has auto ban in place as I state earlier). It seems like this would mean that one may fish with alts on any land that does not specifically state that you can't use them, since the game TOS does not mention anything about alts. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

  5. Do you think most landowners are of that mindset, they don't really care if people use alts when fishing? I'm now beginning to question whether it is even against the rules to use them or not - I am trying to look into this for each specific game now

  6. I'm not angry, I just saw a huge sign on someone's sim that said "NO ALTS" etc. and wondered if I should be reporting or not. I thought the landowner would want to know since they are the one who put up the sign but I won't worry about it anymore lol. Had I not seen that sign I would have assumed landowners are grateful for the traffic and don't care if half of the traffic consists of alts

You're not missing out on something because someone else is using more than one av. That's like saying it's not fair someone has more disposable income than others in sl, so therefore those of us with less should get more lol.

The landowner only has a certain amount of lindens to spend each day on the buoys though, so for example they might put in 400L, and if one person is using four alts they will drain that buoy very quickly, which means people like myself who are only using one avatar to fish with will not even get to fish at all.

  8. One of the games I play has set it up so that when you try to withdraw from the ATM, it directs you to a website which then uses your IP address to determine whether you are an alt of someone else and then automatically bans you if your IP address has already been used by another avatar. I wonder how difficult it would be to implement this as a game creator. Seems like it would prevent the alt issue.

  9. I spend a lot of time playing fishing games in SL. I have become very good at determining which people are using multiple alts while fishing. The people who are using alts while fishing are getting triple or quadruple the lindens the rest of us are getting, which leaves less lindens for those of us playing fairly. Is there any way to prevent alts from fishing simultaneously? Should I contact a landowner when it is obvious who is using alts?

  10. I'm afraid to find out how much I've spent over the years. I have a major spending problem and literally blew all my life savings in SL. Now I have to fish all day to earn lindens for anything I want in game. A difficult but necessary lesson in self control & patience.

  11. Thank you so much for your help! I do often switch my graphics preferences from low to medium to take a quick photo, I think that is what has been causing this problem. I am going to uninstall and do a clean install, as I have recently reinstalled over the existing install (when prompted to by the SL Viewer) so that could be causing issues as well. I appreciate your taking the time to respond to my post!

  12. I keep having this strange problem where the color picker in SL Viewer become black. For example, if I try to create a box the only color option is black. The chat becomes black as well so I can't see what I am typing. This happens every single day, but relogging fixes the issue. Does anyone know what the problem may be and if there is a permanent fix for it?

I'm using the newest SL viewer, my pc specs are:

    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770S CPU @ 3.10GHz (3092.84 MHz)
    Memory: 12228 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 18362.356)
    Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 760 (192-bit)/PCIe/SSE2

    Windows Graphics Driver Version: 25.21.14.1634
    OpenGL Version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 416.34

  13. Thank you so much for checking! I still experience the strange moving graphics issue every time I visit but only when I zoom to the very northern edge of the sim, so it doesn't affect my experience fishing there. I appreciate your taking the time to help - I am so grateful!

  14. For some reason I am not seeing notifications so totally missed these replies. I apologize for taking so long to respond!

I thought maybe it had to do with the off sim landscape being used on the sim? (It's at my favorite fishing spot, Eagle's Nest, on the North side of the sim)

I recommend turning down your graphics settings.

Also... look at your usual spots in wireframe mode. See anything that looks way way way too detailed?

I appreciate your advice, and the info you so kindly shared with me. I've never heard of wireframe mode - this is so helpful! I think my own mesh head and body are causing problems so am going to switch to a non-human av and see if that helps.

  16. I am experiencing a strange graphics issue when I zoom in using SL Viewer at a certain sim. The textures appear to be moving, including the ground, and even my desktop becomes distorted. It only happens when zooming into one particular area of the parcel.

Any idea what might be causing this?
