Anyway, resilience..

Is not a virtue.

But it is a significantly beneficial skill or quality that aids a person in navigating life, if their environment, relationships and circumstances have instilled it in them.

Not everyone is so fortunate. At one extreme, those who face very little adversity in life are less likely to develop resilience, and more likely to react with negative behaviours when challenged. At another extreme, some peoples' experiences are so relentlessly brutal, overwhelming or abusive that they never stood a chance to develop resilience healthily. And some are forced into resilience because the alternative is unthinkable. This is trauma, and no amount of praise for being 'strong and resilient' changes that or addresses their needs.

I struggle to summon the will to apply any of this to SL, where the most common adversities I face are just logging in or navigating a busy sim with a crappy laptop.

Pretty much nothing. I have two, which I created to explore different characters/identities/angles of myself, and for a while they served that purpose, but not substantially. These days I occasionally use them to try out radically different looks with new heads etc or any kind of experimentation, but tbh I haven't logged in to any of them for months at the time of writing....although one of them currently sports a look that fellow sapphics might just melt/ die for, lol.

Well, I managed to get inworld twice yesterday, so something has changed, and not from my end.

As for restarting, it's been taking 3 or 4 attempts for me ever since I came back to sl last year. I'd assumed it was my low-spec laptop or network, but if it's happening to more people now then perhaps it's an sl/server issue that's deteriorating. Typical 'load-fails' I get:

• Getting inworld but things like my L$ balance and name tag appear as question marks (???.???) and nothing works.
• Getting inworld but my avatar is stuck in a T-pose, mesh body parts won't load, I can't select inventory items, any blue-box notecards that arrive are lost to the aether etc..
• Everything seeming to load okay but then getting the 'You've been logged out of sl' dialog box.

[I've been building for a moment and I'd like some advice/ideas or someone with interest to have a look at my build.]

I can't help thinking of one of my favourite gifs..

Well, as far as I know I haven't installed any 'PBR beta', just the normal Firestorm.

..has anyone mentioned giving newbies (or me) a ready-made folder structure they can pop into their inventory, or even making it a freebie on the mp?
