I'm not getting PP+ because really I wouldn't use a lot of that stuff anyways..

After thinking about all this and with them pulling quarterly, which errked me real good because it felt like a really cheap move on their part.. So I decided to do a little cheapening myself.

I went and looked at what perks I really even use in premium and really, there isn't much I do use.

So I decided, those have been a waste of money for me too, so I downgraded all three of my accounts to basic..

I'll give that money to the content creators instead. ;)

The only thing I really use with my premium is that extra slot to get into events. Thats it.

    Good Lord.

    > They have added a link to the FAQ at the bottom of the introduction blog post.  I'm sure they thank you very much for the suggestion :)

    > Why are you asking support folks what the signup bonus is?  It's in writing in the blog post, and Patch gave it as well in his SL18B meeting, $L3K.  Period.

    > The $15 name change is in the introduction blog post, the last item in the Premium Plus column in the table. I believe that was there when it was first posted, I remember noticing it. Why do you need more verification?  The FAQ addresses the process for getting a name change at that price.

I don't think it makes sense at this time to spread the list of PP benefits all over the website, because Patch made it clear that they may be adding more as time goes on.

    Yeah, good lord.

No one cares about the blog post except forum people. It should be in the actual account upgrade area. That is where the link should be. Because that is where it is most visible and where people go to actually upgrade. Its common sense.

The $15 name change is NOT mentioned anywhere in the account upgrade area where it SHOULD be, not in a blog post. Because, you know, that is where people go to actually upgrade.

If they release the tier, they should add the benefits. All current ones. Its common sense. If the tier is incomplete, they should not release it. Period. Its common sense.

I have been talking to people who have gyazo proof that some support lindens have said they would get 2k as an upgrade bonus from premium since they already got 1k from being premium.

Also, the FAQ should be visible from the account page and not hidden somewhere in the support section. Imagine a new person trying to find out more info and not knowing where the FAQ was when every other site has their FAQ and information front and center. Why LL tends to bury all useful info is beyond me.

  3. Here's my whole take on this and then I am out.

Why release a membership upgrade page if its incomplete? With no links to the faq page? Having a Faq is very important. Its not something you hide in the support section. Why have multiple support Lindens contradict each other over the signup bonuses? Is it 2k or 3k when upgrading from premium accounts? No one knows. Then they create even more confusion by saying in a blog post that there will be $15 name changes but no where on the upgrade page or the Faq is that even mentioned. People shouldnt have to wander through different parts of a website to gather information about one specific thing. It shouldn't be a quest to pick up pieces.

Maybe sort this all out BEFORE releasing the premium plus tier? Are you guys just tossing stuff in in the backend and updating the pages every so often? That is CRAZY. Its the year 2022, not 2005. Are you guys running on Weebly? Yeah, I'm roasting because its frustrating as someone who is interested in Premium Plus but if you can't even do a basic page update that includes communication, that actually says a lot about how you handle everything else. Its such a simple process.....I've developed sites in the past so this is cringe to me. 20 years and this happens...c'mon LL. This shouldnt happen at all.

They need to get their crap together. Having people go to 30 different links for information is freaking stupid and insane. I have people saying, with proof, that Lindens are telling them they will be getting 2k bonuses, not 3k when upgrading from premium to plus. I just talked to a linden and she told me 3k. This whole thing is so stupidly confusing and didn't even have to be this confusing.

WoW expansion launches have gone smoother than this and thats SAD.

  5. How Premium+ came to be

Linden Lab employee: Creators are asking for free texture uploads.

    LL: Oh no, not again.

Employee: We could put that feature into the premium plan and raise it a bit.

LL: Yeah, no. Premium is already going to be increased. I have a better idea. Lets put that feature into another tier and call it Premium Plus. Offer a bit more than Premium and overcharge creators but not call it a Creator Tier because we want everyone to buy it.

when people are being more motivated to create, it is already working out!

no where did I say this is about lowering prices. Some creators struggle to make a gift simply for having too much cost to go into. will they now make 10 gifts per month? of course not.

but having a bit more motivation to create (gift ot not), is never a wrong thing. And that is beneficial to every single SL resident imho.

I fully expect to see fatpack prices drop due to the free texture uploads and drop even more when and if mesh uploads become free too 🙃

Nothing of that is realistic. If that's what you expect, def better to not go prem plus.

For creators it's brilliant. free texture upload alone makes it more than worth it for many of us. The rest is bonus on top.

being beneficial for creators also has an impact on any other resident. free texture upload, means less cost making something, easier to break even for some creators. Easier to make a gift here or there to make our SL more beautiful for every resident, no matter if they are free, prem or P+. And generally motivating to create nice things to share and enjoy, which is a huge part of SL.

But for some reason so many refuse to look at even that side and prefer to just complain, and make it all about " me, me , me... not for me... me, me," . Sad.

Then maybe LL should market it as a Content Creator package instead of a citizen+ package.

  8. I expected some nonsense like this. LL doesn't have anything to be really exited for anymore. They just don't. And being the definition of greedy is nothing to be exited for. It's nothing innovative. They do nothing innovative.

Here's an overpriced sim with still outdated tech that Nvidia still doesn't care about.

Here's premium plus where we offer more useless crap.

If you want money, give us something that's WORTH the money.

Edit: raising group limits shouldn't even have a cost. It's asinine to even think that group/block limits should have a cost.

SL is already over 20 years old.

Want some proof? Teleport to Sansara continent and examine the ages of some of the oldest things to be found there, such as The Man Statue in Natoma, Stellar Sunshine's Beanstalk in Welsh and Governor Linden's Mansion in Clementina (which Stellar Sunshine also built). You'll find they were all built in 2002, not 2003.

The public had some limited access to SL in March 2002. Stellar Sunshine was SL's first ever public resident, she created her account on 13th March 2002. Ironically, Stellar is one day older than Philip Rosedale's "Philip Linden" account of 14th March 2002.

Back in March of 2002, SL was called "Linden World", not "Second Life". "Linden World" existed as a limited public access testing environment, which Stellar Sunshine and 24 other members of the public were invited to be part of. This period of SL's history is known as the Alpha Test period.

On 30th October 2002, the "Linden World" name was changed to "Second Life". SL began a limited closed access Beta Test period in November 2002, with an initial group of sixteen "San Francisco Street" named regions, before a wider open access public Beta Test period began in April 2003 with 31 sim regions.

SL did not magically appear from nowhere on 23rd June 2003, this date is only its full "consumer version" v1.0 public launch date, although it is treated by LL as SL's birthday.

The first SLB event celebrated this 23rd June public launch date a year later in 2004. This SLB event was continued in subsequent years as a "birthday" for SL. But it is not SL's true birthday.

I find it sad and disappointing to SL history (and especially for its Alpha/Beta test pioneers) that the whole of 2002 (and all references to Linden World and its Alpha/Beta testers) is either missing or ignored from the official SLB history exhibits, presumably to maintain a false myth of 2003 being SL's first year of origin.

I think you may be in the wrong thread.

  10. Have you lost your minds? I was told these regions would be used at SL19 and guess what?

Have you ever wished you could keep the lag monster at bay during large events?

I am currently at SL19 and am sitting at a measly 16fps with a AMD Ryzen 9, Nvidia 2070 SUPER, 16 gig ram.

Sporting the latest upgrades in grid technologies that have been enabled by our migration to the cloud, these regions have been tested running large events in real-world scenarios such as those really big monthly shopping events, and live performances! Our tests saw nearly 200 avatars successfully able to shop and party in these regions.

Tested on what? Potatoes using the lowest graphic settings? Where did you find 200 fully meshed out avatars? What bodies and heads were they using?

*Region will support up to 30,000 Land Impact. During performance testing, Linden Lab has identified a few cases where exceeding 20,000 Land Impact will degrade performance with a large number of concurrent visitors.

Read the bolded and red part as many times as needed because the asking price below is laughable.

For initial release, we are pleased to offer an introductory price of $599, with no additional setup fee through June 6, 2022. Following the introductory pricing, event regions will have a set-up fee of US$999 (includes first month), and a rate of $899/month after the first 30 days.

I am here, at these event regions and they are NOT WORTH THAT PRICE POINT. Who is this even geared for? Not the average resident. Not even event owners. No one in their right mind would go for this. Real life corporations? We put $900 into our gas tanks monthly now. Sheesh.
