  1. I'd like to start a networking group for business owners on Second Life. I've facilitated a number of groups myself, and am familiar with real-life groups like Business Networking International. I would like to try a similar model in Second Life. At BNI meetings, each person brings a particular "need" each week, and we go around in a circle giving practical advice and resources. There will also be time to practice your "elevator pitch," learn from others, and give short presentations about new products and services. We will also try to be a sales team for each other, and recommend each other to others when possible. Would anyone be interested in attending once a week? Could be a good way to meet some good people, and learn something in the process. If so (or if not!), could you leave your thoughts in this thread? I'd appreciate any feedback, especially if you've tried something similiar. Thank you!

We currently seek a coordinator to oversee the day-to-day development of our Second Life office. We have recently opened our first virtual space to use as a platform for facilitating dialogue, education, productivity, and basic human connection. We intend for this space to allow new and old members to congregate in am active and formalized virtual community center. Virtual spaces such as Second Life allow persons such as ourselves who live with anxiety, depression and transportation issues to congregate in one place with likeminded people. This social connection is absolutely essential to many of us whom are too often isolated from positive human contact. The Virtual Office Coordinator role develops a healthy and robust community for adults on the autism spectrum to facilitate dialogue, education, productivity, and basic human connection. This role serves both functions of Office Manager and Volunteer Coordinator. The role implies the following functions: : Ensure a healthy and positive social environment : Support good attendance by checking in with members and volunteers : Support the BAC director to create new virtual volunteer projects : Examine the boundaries of how virtual collaboration and community-building have been performed : Attend interesting discussions and networking events with BAC members and staff about virtual worlds and disabilities : Participate in ongoing discussions with BAC staff on how virtual worlds can provide personal growth to people with autism : Provide encouragement and constructive feedback to members : Ensure new members are using the Second Life client safely and correctly : Support the development of new support groups, discussion topics, and events The Virtual Office Coordinator will have the benefit of meeting exciting people in the field of virtual worlds, including educators, researchers, disability advocates, and businesspersons who see virtual worlds as the next vehicle for human development.
