This is EXACTLY what Linden Lab wants EVENTUALLY. The death of Second Life and people migrating to their special snowflake, Project Sansar. The only argument is the timetable.

  2. I am truly sorry Monique but Sassy's reply is 100% accurate. The gutless wonders of Linden Lab will not help you with this matter. You have learned a very expensive lesson when it comes to Linden Lab and Second Life. With the exception of four stores in world that I have used for my time in Second Life, I do ALL my shopping through the Marketplace. The best description that I can provide to Linden Lab (and to the non-English speaking people I hope the idea translates to your language) but the word is SLUMLORD.

  3. Just another example of Linden Lab protecting the guilty at the expense of the innocent. And people still wonder why the population of Second Life is dwindling. New people get discouraged fast and leave and the older residents either accept the behavior and pretend all is okay (think Kevin Bacon at the end of Animal House) or are like me and contemplating how long they can stomach it. As a premium member for now over 4 years, I am figuring to last the summer and when my membership comes due in September to cancel. Does anyone REALLY think with the inept customer service that Linden Lab provides that Sansar will be successful? When Second Life was launched there were no competitors. Sansar will not have that luxury.

  4. I have found that there are two types of people inhabiting Second Life. The first, like me, are simply here to have a good time and escape from the real world. The second have elevated Second Life to cult status and react very belligerently if you dare to question the cult leader, in this case, Linden Lab. Bottom line, THE ONLY THING LINDEN LAB IS INTERESTED IN DOING
IS COLLECTING YOUR MONEY. SECOND LIFE IS NOTHING MORE THAN JUST ONE MORE CRAZY CALIFORNIAN CULT AND I DO NOT DRINK THEIR KOOL-AID.

  5. Repeat after me,

LINDEN LAB IS GREAT AND LOVES US

LINDEN LAB IS GREAT AND LOVES US

LINDEN LAB IS GREAT AND LOVES US

I just absolutely love the BLIND devotion that so many people give Linden Lab.

Is it no wonder why the world is in such a horrible state with this blind devotion.

  6. I am not surprised. As a retired IT professional for a major telecommunication company for over 25 years, I have felt that Linden Lab's turning of a blind eye to security in Second Life has ALWAYS been naive at best and criminal at worst. Bottom line, DO NOT DEPEND ON LINDEN LAB TO DO ANYTHING BUT COLLECT YOUR MONEY.

  7. I am HIGHLY suspicious of ANYTHING Linden Lab does. What it comes down to is are you going to listen to your feelings and make your mind up yourself or listen to Linden Lab's sheep on this forum, most I trust less than Linden Lab. Luckily for me my quarterly membership just got renewed last week, so I have until after Thanksgiving to decide to update my info. My real hope is that when the cluster abombination called Sansar is released, most of the sheep will wander over there.

  8. I was wondering when Linden Lab would show up.

And for the record, while I don't think Linden Lab is actively behind the griefer attacks, yes, I believe Linden Lab is allowing people to sabotage their "profitable" business just so they can say it's "unprofitable" and then close it down. Before my retirement, I was a server programmer, and I know for an absolute STONE COLD FACT, that if they wanted to stop griefer attacks they could.

    GROW UP

  9. I am not accusing ANYONE of ANYTHING but I do find this matter very curious. Linden Lab has made no secret that they are concentrating all future resources to the new platform. But they have publicly said that the current platform would be allowed to remain up AS LONG AS IT WAS PROFITABLE. The griefers are causing Second Life to lose money as more and more high-tier residents are leaving. Hmmmmmmmm, I wonder why Linden Lab is not doing anything about the griefer attacks?

  10. Move on. I have already looked at InWorldz and while I prefer Second Life to InWorldz, I would give it a chance. I know ALOT of people will slam you saying that Linden Lab will NEVER close Second Life, but I don't agree. In fact, when they do close Second Life, I am sure we will get at best one month's notice. From a pure business standpoint, it does not make sense to have two platforms running. In Linden Lab's mind, the new platform will be the shiny new sports car and Second Life will be the Edsel (goggle it kids). I am not surprised that any schedule has been stated because schedule ALMOST always slip. But anyone can plainly see that traffic is Second Life has been decreasing since Ebbe's bombshell last summer. And please dont show me any statistics. Server statistics can be manipulated. Just explore Second Life and you can see it for yourself. I have absolutely no interest in Linden Lab's new platform for many reason with the biggest reason being the Ebbe's statement that it will be for 13+ "babies".

  11. Thanks, that was a feature I was not aware of. Sadly,  it did not detect anything. It really appears that the only thing that is happening is that the Spam noise message is generated. With the Spam protection turned off, no error message and more importantly no noise is generated. If I turn on the Spam noise protection and block the resident in question, no message is generated. Still think the problem maybe on the Linden Lab server but without their assistance, as long as I keep that resident blocked, I am hoping I will be okay. Thanks to everyone for their helpful suggestions.

  12. Thanks for the suggestions. The good news is that I went back and forth between many sims (avoiding my rental property) and did not get the message. As soon as I tped into my rental, I got the spam message there and everywhere else I went after that. Tried an area search to see if i could find any object with the individual in question but found none. Hoping when the sim gets restarted on Tuesday or Wednesday, the problem might get fixed.

  13. I am currently experiencing a problem with a SPAM noise attached to my account. I have contacted Linden Lab for help but they are classifying it as a Resident to Resident dispute so they have declined to help. I have the Spam Protection box checked.

    PROBLEM

Whenever I TP from one Sim to another, I receive a SPAM noise message from this particular resident. But as far as my friends and I have determined that is all it is (just a message). We hear no sound and the sound explorer detects no sound either. So I don't think there is actually a noise being generated.

    ACTIONS

I deleted all my Second Life viewer and avatar files and did a clean install of my viewer. (NO CHANGE)

I unchecked the SPAM protection box and no longer received the SPAM noise message (of course) but as I stated earlier, my friends did not detect any noise when I tped in and my own sound explorer did not detect any noise generated. This is unacceptable to me because of all the silly sounds in Second Life.

So, I rechecked the SPAM Protection box and blocked the Russian vampire, The messages stopped but I am concerned that there is still something attached to my account. This was the question I had hoped that Linden Lab could answer but they have chosen to protect the guilty at the expense of the innocent. So much for the "benefits" of being a Premium member. I would simply restart with a new avatar except I cannot afford to lose my inventory.
