I always wondered, do all the Hells Angels clubs in SL have permission from the RL Hells Angels to use their brand?

I know all about copyright rules and such, but I'd be worried a RL Hells Angel would find out where you live and express their displeasure in person over the unauthorized copying of their brand

I would assume the Hells Angels wouldn't be too happy with the use of their colors (what you called their Brand). Lone Legion MC Did at one time exist in New Zealand but has gone defunct, patching over (joining with) the Outlaws MC. I decided to use the name and colors of an MC that no longer exists in RL to avoid stepping on any RL MC toes. My personal opinion is that if anyone  on SL wanted to start an MC on SL, Use an Extinct MC like I did or get more creative and make up your own name/colors.

  2. My first Mesh Avy I had a catwa Justin head and an Adam body. Now I use a Lelutka head and Signature Gianni Body. Lelutka.Head.Guy 3.4. yeah I know, OLD but I like it so why change?

    Not all Angels are Muricans.

Apparently people have a problem reading the full post, and leave out the part where I said "Harley or Indian...or at least a lookalike..it is SL after all." Also the use of Hells angels was an EXAMPLE....oh yeah and I am an American who based this MC on an AMERICAN MC.

Considering trademarks, that's a pretty silly requirement.

Even if trademarks weren't a problem, why limit your brand selection to some of the worst performing options?

Hence "American" in quotes. MC's generally don't ride Hondas. Ever seen a Hell's Angel on anything OTHER then a Harley or Indian. They are also easily modifiable.

  5. Well first off, what does it look like now? Is it male or female? Do you have money to invest in it? Your post is pretty vague. We all started out learning how to make our avy. I doubt anyone here thought their first avy looked remotely close to realistic. Be prepared to dump at LEAST 10k Linden into a decent avatar.

  6. 100 L$ = 1USD, hmm,

    500 L$ = 5 USD

    5,000 L$ = 50 USD

    50,000 L$=500 USD

    500,000 L$ = 5,000 USD

Using the Linden Exchange rate as of this writing:

    100 L$ = 41 cents USD

    500 L$ =  2.04 USD

    5,000 L$ = 20.33 USD

    50,000 L$ = 203.26 USD

    500,000 L$ = 2,032.53

Conversely, using that same linden rate, 100 USD would get you 24,600 L$, under the proposal that would cost 246 USD. Over twice as much USD!

    Couple of points ...

    "this is a hobby"

The workload required to make a thing has increased exponentially, so has the tooling required. Once upon a time anyone could rub some prims together and call it a hat, but not anymore.

SL now requires industry skills, software and a high degree of competency with those tools. SL is also weird, so special knowledge of the platform is often required in addition. Things take considerable amounts of time to make, test and debug. As much as this might be a disposable hobby that could all close tomorrow for some here, it consumes the time and labor of a real job to make the content.

SL business owners are often working 60 to 80 hours a week, just to turn out something you all think they should be able to make in their spare time while doing another job.

"sucks to be them, they should get a real jerb"

You do all realize the kinds of people who end up in SL right. The name of the place is kind of a hint.

Some quit their real jobs to work here, plenty didn't have or couldn't have real jobs in the first place, and rather than wanting to support people who are finding ways to be productive and self sufficient......

Running a recognizable brand here is a full time job, and as anyone who has been self employed will know, when you work for yourself, you are never away from work.

Try working where you play. The fun evaporates pretty fast. SL is a high pressure working environment with constant deadlines, customer service headaches and fractional incomes that can be wiped out by one person leaving a crappy marketplace review. Burn out is a real problem, no one takes any time off (because they can't).

    "everything should be cheeeeeep"

Even if we increased prices by a factor of ten, it still would be cheap, and that's not what I'm suggesting at all.

I'm suggesting that the L$ presents a high apparent value, and that this exerts a downward pressure on the entire economy.

    Also ...

I did DJ in RL (And occasionally still do). When I DJ on SL, That graphic nailed it! But I do it as a hobby as well.

  8. Restarting my MC all over again after some drama did some damage to it before. If you are interested in being part of an American Motorcycle Club on SL, Hit me up in world. Fenix Greycloak (bdobson).

Having an "American" Bike is a must (Harley or Indian...or at least a lookalike..it is SL after all). We do rides on other people's tracks (with permission of course), but above all we like to hang out with each other at our clubhouse and do fun stuff. You will start out as a prospect as we get to know you and what talents you can bring to the MC. If you think you have no talents, think again. EVERYONE has them.

My recommendation would always be to go and find a nice noobie and give it to them :) 1k would make a big difference to some new person's experience.

When I Was a noob, it would have been nice for someone to up and give me 1k Linden. But back then 1k went a lot further then it does now.
