I live in Sydney, not the sticks. I use to live in the country and the internet was much better as I normally got 8Mbps there but here in Sydney I average a little over 4Mpbs. Also, the copperwire is old. The techs say that it is outdated and falling apart, struggling to keep up making it expensive to retain. They cannot understand why Australians voted to not update to World standards but remains with a dying infrastructure.
Business, health etc are crying out for an updated infrastructure. Very few people here actually believe our internet is up to standard. Tourists visiting commonly ridicule it for being over a decade behind in technology.
The other computer is a newly refurbished/rebuilt computer and it is having the same trouble as my two year old computer.
I have been thinking of ringing up my provider to see what can be done for me.
