Is it required that you own a home in SL in order to have a pet?

Hi Pet Mynx~~Yes, I went to Edit Shape. Then on Body I scrolled all the way to the bottom until I came to Hover. It is set at 50. If I raise it by just 1 my Avi is right where it should be. If I raise it by 2 then Avi is a tad too high. So when I set hover to 51 then click save my avi sinks into the ground and the Hover slides all the way down to I think it was 15! So only my head is sticking above ground and the rest of my body is absent!! ahaha Funny but frustrating. I can't figure out why this is happing or what I'm doing wrong.

For some reason after trying out a new shape, my feet sink into the ground. This has happened before when I was new on here so I went into edit to adjust "Hover." And that fixed things. Well, this time with my new shape, I went to adjust my Hover which is set @ 50. Raising it to 51 fixed the issue and her feet were finally above ground. But when I go to save this setting, she sinks all the way below ground with only the head sticking out above the ground ??? What am I doing wrong?
