i have been trying to send someone i kno a gift but i cant find the transaction. Do u have to be friends to do this?

I have spent over 1,000 lindens on gifts for a friend that have never been delivered! Thats ridiculous! It always says got it, sending. But it never appears in his invwntory. What cab I do?
