A good DJ is improving the club's commercial success, they're a draw for fans of their music choices, personality, or voice. A good DJ is also working their butt off behind the scenes to fill requests, keep up an energy level, or just matching tempos and beats.

It does seem foolish, my avatar is the same height as I am in real life and I'd be six inches shy of that.
