  1. I have a Sim Surround of a city around my Sim. However, I noticed when I go up to my tallest buildings, I can see ocean behind the sim surround. I can even see it at the bottom, between the buildings. To counter this, I would like to add a circular mega prim behind the Sim Surround buildings and place some sort of image on it. Just enough to cover the ocean from the tallest building of my city. Any idea how this can be done? I'm not very skilled with Sim Surrounds and this was a pre-made one that I added. Thank you in advanced.
  2. Thanks for the tips folks, and sorry for the late reply. I'm going to get started on this right now, top to bottom!
  3. Long story short: I need an down to earth (hell, underground) online service that will let me upload 1 song (about 50MB) and stream it unto my Second Life land 24/7 for as cheap as possible. Short Story Long: It seems simple enough. Stream a song, one song...unto your Second Life land. But no matter how many times i've tried to figure it out, I can't. I've read a lot of the guides and am left still scratching my head. I downloaded shoutcast and winamp and had no idea what to make of everything, lol Granted, I have no idea what i'm doing, or at least barely, despite being tech savy in other areas of computers. I played my music and installed a shoutcast plugin and tried connecting to a relay server I rented but to no avail. I'm looking for a hosting service that will stream. I figure the song needs to be streaming at all times 24/7, right? Also I figure having it hosted and streaming on a hosting site will be the easiest way since you just copy the link and paste it unto your "about land" section. Thanks in advance. In any case, I could use some suggestions on an inexpensive solution for 1 song. Thanks in advance for your help!

  5. Aye, the web hosting is what i'm looking for. Thanks for the info!
  6. I feel i'm pretty good around computers. Building my own PC's is a fun hobby I enjoy. As far as software goes, I can barely remember to update the apps on my iphone. Anyways, I'm far too confused to install a server on my PC like Shoutcast. I'd rather just host it and be done with it. Any recommendations for inexpensive hosting options some of you guys use? I really only need 1 song on loop, however, I would be open to more maybe at a later date. On that note, is it possible to create a certain song for a certain part of the land? For example, you walk on a land and hear one music, then you walk into a house and it switches. Just curious. Thanks in advance!
  7. Thanks for the quick reply. At the moment, I rent the land, but have "full rights" to the it to do as I wish. Does this not apply as "owned" in the sense of the television?
  8. I know there are a few LIVE TV stations in Second Life, but i've yet to find a TV that will play these stations. I tried the Treet TV most recently, but it won't play any stations I select. Has this been an issue lately? If so, does anyone know a TV I can get that will let me watch streaming Second Life Television? Thanks in advance.
  9. Thanks for the tips and sorry I didn't respond sooner. I will look into those ideas. Hopefully the less expensive, the better. I have a feeling though that the best way to achieve what i'm looking for is to learn how to do Sim Surrounds myself.
  10. How would one go about creating their own Sim Surround? I'm sure it's way above my "pay grade" though, so given that reality, how could one get a custom Sim Surround. There are a ton of great Sim Surrounds on the market, however, none suit what i'm looking for in particular. Just curious and wanting to research my options ahead of time. Thank you.
  11. That's a good point. Although I do need a lot of fading lights, I will certainly keep tabs on how it's affecting the viewer throughout the whole process. I have a great gaming PC and rarely experience issues in SL as to performance unless it's a server problem, but I do have an older MAC which might clue me in as how an average person may view the sim. I also looked on the Marketplace and saw there were more than a few options for fading lights. But there are few places to see the item in world and almost no demos. I've learned from experience things are not as they seem in the picture or description and am hesitant to try a few of them and waste the Lindens unless I know it works.
  12. I tried out the ghost. Unfortunately in this case, when I placed it and looked "inside", I didn't see any script. I saw you had a link on the ghost's item page for some sort of script, but it was a dead link. In any case, if you do have that script somewhere, i'd be happy to pay for a full rights version of the script so I can edit things such as fade speed interval, etc.
  13. Thank you for the intial tips! I'll check that out when I can get on my PC next, likely later this afternoon! I have zero scripting experience, but I guess I may end up having to learn one way or another.
  14. I'm looking to buy a script that will fade lights in and out (slowly). I've seen plenty of blinking lights, but I don't see anything that fades in and out. I imagine fading lights takes a little more time and effort versus blinking, but fading is what I need for my projects.. I would like the ability to also sync lights to fade in and out together as well versus having a bunch of random lights fading at random. Anyone with the know how to help? I have also posted a video of an example of what i'm looking for. Click the video and fast forward to @30:15 (thiry minutes and fifteen seconds). As the character on screen walks around Esthar City, you'll see all sorts of fading lights in all sorts of locations. It adds a hi-tech and industrial vibe that can't be done any other way than with these kinds of lights, agree?
  15. Your right. Even when I logged back in the settings I had changed were gone. That's too bad. Not every setting is meant to be next to a Caribbean setting sunset scene. I still need to research what a Mega Prime is and see some examples on how other Sims hide the ocean such as Insilico and the FF7 Midgar Server, etc.
  16. I assumed I wouldn't be able to change the "system water" to land, but I think I found the next best thing. I edited the water to be brown and stopped all waves in any direction and took out as much of the reflection as I could for a long, flat plain into the horizon.
  17. I think I already know the answer, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask. Most people on SL enjoy those beautiful beach sunsets on their own tropical islands. It's a way for us poor folk to get a piece of the life just out of reach and it's pretty cool to say the least. Despite all that, I am constructing a city that just isn't beach coast material and I would rather gaze upon an endless expanse of land or better yet, distant mountains. Probably not possible, but if it is or was, where would I go to turn the land I use into I am renting a Sim, but I wanted to see if it was possible for the Sim landlords to change or ask LL to change it for me. If it's not possible as I suspect, doesn't anyone else think it would be cool? I'm trying to get my head around how other sims manage to cover up the ocean if it doesn't apply to their sim. My city is massive...and tall, therefor having "boards with pictures" would be tough. Anyways, thank you for the advice. ~Tim Flynn
  18. I need a single twinkling light, just like this. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Twinkle-StarFairy-Lights-Multi-fruits-Copyable-LISP-Bazaar/1253930 Except, I only need 1 that I can copy and modify And I need the light to blink, at a slow pace, and I need the fade to on and off to be slow. I would prefer it to look just like this. See video and skip to @30:20 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmgunMWgcUM Do you see those lights in the background? Thanks in advance!
  19. Ah. Okay. So it's another SL Limitation we have to work around. In any case, I'm trying to create a Rez Box out of this massive structure. I guess the best course of action here is to either make copies of the prims and put them in the rez box individually or just leave them out and put them back in during the final build. A bit of a hassle, but I suppose it's the best way. Thanks for the quick response.
  20. Let's say I have a building. And I start to link all the buildings prims together. Some of those prims have scripts in them. For example. A few have a sliding glass door while another might have a one way phantom script. Still a third might be an elevator. I noticed when I link these prims together, they go haywire. The roof or building might decide to act like a sliding glass door. The elevator might stop working altogether and the phantom prim might now act like a solid wall. Is there any way I can get these scripted prims to act independent instead of affecting the rest of the linked prims? I know i've succeeded at this before, but I can't remember for the life of me how I did it. It might have been on accident. Thank you in advance.
  21. When I built a large structure in a sandbox, I was able to link all the pieces together with no issues. In fact I was kinda surprised, because the building part was a bit big. Then, when I rented some land, In noticed that if I unlinked 1 object and tried to link it back, I got the dreaded and all hateful "unable to link any pieces together" message. I was curious if certain land owners had the ability to set how far prims could and could not be to link versus if it was a standard Linden Labs rule...and an aggravating one at that. Perhaps i'm doing something wrong? Is there a primary object that I need to use to link everything around it within a radius? I'll tell you what I wouldn't mind and would probably pay 100,000 Lindens for. An auto Rezzer that automatically links pieces together and packages it for you. Maybe there's a nice gadget out there I don't know about to make my life easier besides the average Rezzer? When your sometimes building the kind of structures I am, with intricate insides, linking objects together can turn into an all day affair. Thanks in advance. Edit: Just a mini update - I just discovered right click > Show in Linksets > Select All... This allows me to select everything all at once. This will save many hours of going through and selecting each object one by one. Obviously, I can't link them all together, but can I do something with a Rezzer to take all of this at once?
  22. That's what I was looking for. Thank your speedy reply!
  23. It's bad enough that I suck at building as it is, lol. But when my measurement tool seemed to disapear, it got twice as hard. I am looking to bring back the measurement tool that was present only a few days ago but is no longer there. When you hold the "Control" button on the keyboard and your able to move and shift your prim in any direction, there used to be a measurement that would help me snap the object in any direction. But it's gone out of the blue. I hope you know what i'm talking about, heh. Any ideas.

    Android

I see them everywhere, in different forms. Androids that are essential "non-playable characters" that do your bidding muahahahaha...such as greet guests to your store or act as a secretary at the desk for your roleplay area, etc. I'm looking to find out what shops sell these, as my searches have turned up empty. Maybe i'm searching under the wrong name or something, but essentialy I wanted to purchase these, not yet, but in the future for a roleplay sim i'm working on. Is there an android wal mart or two in SL? Thanks in advance.
