  1. Thankyou very much everybody for all your help. In the first instance I have hot- footed it down to Baby Monkey- I actually don't now know whether, on the basis of my bank balance, I should regret having asked this question! Pixieplumb, the Julia boots are GORGEOUS and the demo fits immaculately. In the second instance I will be reminding myself how to edit linked prims and throwing myself womanfully into the business of learning how to modify shoes. I have too many nice purchases to let them fester in my inventory because I'm slightly daunted by the effort involved!
  2. So my avatar is on the shorter side- I'm a member of the 'I'm not tiny, you're all massive... no, I'm not a child, I have bosoms' gang. This seems to make buying shoes an absolutely nightmare; I look like a little girl clumping around in Mummy's high heels. I might as well smear lipstick on my face and wear a feather boa. My everyday footwear is a nice pair of clumpy- ish boots from Loorde's of London which look proportionate, and they look okay with some little dresses. There are however times and outfits which require a proper ladylike pair of heels (or not so ladylike even...) and I cannot find one to save my life. I've tried resizing and every pair of shoes I have is already at their smallest and I'm swimming in them. There must be some smaller AVI's out there who can point me in the direction of grown- up shoes for smaller ladies!
  3. So I was chatting to someone the other day and he- rather impudently- told me I was cute but could do with a hairbase. I took it in the spirit I'm sure it was meant (:)) and went out and bought a hairbase, and I could see the difference. But shortly after I wondered why I was looking so haggard- I'm not a makeup maven in RL but I guess I've got used to seeing my avatar looking smokey- eyed! Do i really have to choose between an overly defined hairline and looking like I've not had enough sleep, LOL. (Apols if this is an overly simple question with a simple answer, but I'm feeling like I'd rather get answers from people than wikis at this stage in my newb career!)
  4. Luc, thankyou! Things certainly did look crisper after clearing my cache- I'd actually forgotten that the jeans in question have quite a prominent double seam stitch which had just blurred horribly, but is now sharp as a pin again. I also defaulted and rebuilt my avi because she was looking a bit wonky on the left side and she's now looking all symetrical and lovely again.
  5. i came onto the forums to ask a clothes related question to which it sounds like this might be the answer, but I'll just check- as of yesterday the seams on my favourite jeans are much more apparent and, uh, the buttock area is all faded. My favourite jeans! It's too hard for me to buy jeans to let this go. I did try and edit an outfit yesterday (with no luck; it was a beautiful frock but I think just too complex for a newb like me to muck about with). I was wondering whether I accidentally did something when I was editing the frock that made my other clothes look wacked out, or am I just experiencing the same issues as the OP? I'm not a RTFM sort of person, so was hoping I haven't done something really silly, like editing my skin/ shape or something. Thanks in advance for helping a gal to look impeccably stylish again rather than, to be frank, slightly faded and ill- put together.
