Have you tried highlighting all the objects owned by you to see if it dropped into an obscure place? I've found a few odds and ends this way (and a chicken in my wall).

Protection against what, exactly? An adult pretending to be a child not having to see adult things? You're roleplaying as a child in an adult virtual world. The responsibilty is on you, not the rest of us to cater to your ageplay.

When you are in SL, you are looking around from the viewpoint of your avatar. If you hold control and alt, you can zoom around and see yourself.
