Many of them answered back saying something like, "Wow! Thats craaaazy!" - in the creepy robots are going to rule the world sort of way.

What part of the process gets lost? Does it matter? Does it matter that we can’t really see each other for what we are?

I don't think we really ever see each other for who we are. We craft faces to show depending on analysis of risk and reward. SL certainly shifts that analysis. Some (most?) of that shift comes from anonymity, some from a potentially false (true? ;-) re-embodiment of self via our avatars.

    /me interrupts.

"There' s a 66.7% probability Maddy McMasters is actually the grand MCP of Second Life.

    End of line."

    ( /me gestures and waves frantically @ Maddy ... " Shhhhhhhhh, woman .. wth ?"  :robotfrustrated:)

Okay, that's my gripe of the day.

Here's my unsolicited suggestion for the day:

Switch to Daily Affirmations..instead of gripes.    You'll find that you
    really
    have to think!   lol

    Daily affirmations for men :

    1. Look into the mirror.

    2. State to your reflection : " You' re a  *censored* !!"

    3. Smirk.

    4. Start your day.

I will tear up your IOU as soon as a substantantial amount of linden is transferred from your account to mine.

/me frames the IOU for posterity.

PS Dude .. seeing your signature you cannot say you' re broke .. you' re financially challenged. This advise comes with no charge.

that is what happens in the virtual world stupid people think they are smart and get into trouble.

    Try explaining that to Maddy.

I suggest not to do that in case she' s holding a suitcase and there' s a serrated breadknife nearby ... :robotindifferent:

My post definitely didn't promote free L$ - just the opposite, in fact. Circumventing the Lindex Exchange is not any kind of violation. LL approve some sites where that's done.

Not saying you did, but the software and content of the one sending you that PM. By circumventing I meant I doubt they are buying lindens for you legally and supply you lindens by exchange rates, but most likely use manipulation or perhaps a hack to alter your account(money)statistics after you pay them a onetime fee.

I' m not sure LL officially approves of this.

I guess your post was removed more as a precaution to not let others try it out by mistake.

  7. Admitted : the summary I made is not why the mods pulled the thread, but my own pov and assumption.

The guidelines for naming other avatars is based on context, if I' m not mistaken. For instance, one is not allowed to use names in a post for mere accusational purposes afaik.

  8. I saw several violations in your post . Just mentioning a few here :

    • a name of an avatar was mentioned
    • an url was supplied to a possible malicious site
    • promotion of free linden circumventing linden exchange

Besides .. the link and file are hosted on a companies webserver ( Japanese) , but i doubt they are aware or gave permission to this.

It should also be mentioned people should not try this software and scan it for trojans if downloaded. I tried AVG and it found a trojan.

I respect the mods decision to remove that asap.

Posts disappear very quickly, why is that?  Are people ARing for asking valid questions?

I suspect in this case the post was not AR' d, but retracted after it was written and substituted by an altered version.

Perhaps Celestiall can tell you why.

ETA : I know Celestiall already answered, but posts seem to keep vanishing ... :robotindifferent:

Certainly you can think of parallel examples?

The one that keeps recurring to me is by Johannes Keppler, who was certain the heavens were of divine order :

"Mensus eram coelos, nunc terrae metior umbras

Mens coelestis erat, corporis umbra iacet."
