  1. Hello, I recently began playing again but I've been having the same issue that I had the last time that I played. Whenever I have voice chat enabled, my network "crashes," or just loses connection (Not sure what you would call it here) and takes about a minute to restart. The Second Life client then continues in a loop of trying to start voice but once again loses connection, time after time, until I disable voice again. Now, when I have voice disabled, the game runs just fine and I don't have this problem which is why I'm quite sure that the problem is the voice feature itself. I've spent hours researching and trying to figure out what is causing this but have had no success whatsoever. I've made the necessary changes to my firewall (I use Norton Internet Security, and have even tried disabling the Firewall itself) and tested multiple viewers but still nothing has worked so far. As for my bandwidth (According to http://www.bandwidthplace.com/) I get 8.48mbps download and 3.02mbps upload while Second Life isn't running, and about about half that when it is running, so I'm fairly certain that bandwidth isn't the issue (Although I may be wrong since I'm not all too educated on this subject.) Oh, and I'm using a wired Charter Internet connection on a Windows 7, 64 bit system, with my modem being a Netgear CGD24G. I haven't seen anybody else with this exact issue, does anybody have any ideas on what my problem is? Thanks in advance. (I would provide a copy of my Secondlife.log file incase it would help but I can't seem to figure out how to attach it here) Thanks for the response, but I'm still not quite convinced that it's my bandwidth. According to http://speedtest.net/ I'm getting a download speed of 18.23mbps, which is almost twice the global average. Media streams fine and my net still runs pretty quickly even with Second Life open, and even reducing the amount of Bandwidth that Second Life can use didn't solve my problem.. My net still disconnects for about a minute when voice tries to start. Guess I'll look further into my bandwidth and keep trying though, for now.
  2. I started playing two, almost three months ago and ever since I started, I've been having that issue where my internet crashes for little bit after logging onto Second Life. Eventually it reconnects and I can play, but this usually gives me a message saying that I am unable to connect to the voice server, or no message at all. Either way, voice does not work. All of the required ports are open. I'm fairly certain that it's not an internet issue, seeing as I'm on a hardwired connection and get 10k mbps. I've also made the necessary changes to my firewall. Infact, earlier today I actually had the first normal log-on that I've ever had. I got on and voice connected for the first time ever. My friend could hear me and talk to me, and my net didn't get cut. Sadly, that was the only time. I've done multiple logs since then and they've all been bad. That aside, I was just wondering if it's possible to restart voice while already ingame, so I can at least have voice chat after waiting for my net to reconnect. By the way, I'm using Firestorm 3.0 Mesh if that matters. Thanks for the responses, and I think I'm starting to find the problem with my disconnects. Apparently it has something to do with voice feature itself, whenever I disable it then I can log on with ease. But when I enable it again, I lose connection. Funny how the thing I've been trying to get was apparently the problem all along.. At PeterCanessa: My packet loss is 0.000% and my ping is in the 50-100msec range with and without voice disabled.
  3. I'm also having this issue, I have been since I first started playing a few months ago. It happened to me on Viewer 2 so I switched over to Firestorm 2.5 where the problem still persisted, and now I'm on Firestorm 3.0 but it's still there. I've spent hours searching the web and trying the "solutions," but nothing has worked. I have: 1. Opened all necessary ports 2. Made sure that nothing else is using my web 3. Disabled my Firewall 4. Been using a hardwired connection that gets great download speeds 5. Disabled Catalyst AI and VBO's since I'm an ATI user 6. Set graphics to minimum Nothing has worked, it's pretty frustrating. About three hours ago I had my first normal log on ever, my net didn't die a few seconds after logging on and Voice Chat was actually able to connect. The few relogs afterward just went back to the same old connection cuts.. With so many people having this problem, apparently over the course of a few years based on old google results, you'd think that there'd be a clear fix for this now. Sigh.
