Not likely but it could push it all Inworld and then LL will have to seriously reconsider their recent decisions to make MP a more important part of their income. I am cautiously optimistic that given this is LL's bread and butter they will find a way to make sure we can stay on the MP because right now they are not having to deal with the loss we are but if we start delisting their commission stream dries up.

Yes because we love Second Life in spite of it's problems and I would like to think most who have written here are hopeful of its future. We just want LL to find a pragmatic solution we can live with. We all understand there is always going to be a limit to what they can do about grievers and criminal elements but it has to be more than this.

What! The Labs actually retrieved your items and sent them back to you because if so you are the only one I think so far...

I would like to think the 10% fee covers that insurance policy especially since they have the means to track down the good and so could offer goods retrieved or funds if they cannot get them. I would be open to an additional optional percentage or two though just for pure pragmatic reasons especially if I saw them making other efforts too like two step verification for buying Lindens and the ability to toggle gift on and off in a store since it seems it is still easier for these scammers to gift to their alts.

Well I promptly got my answer to that not so gray zone my items were flagged and delisted so back to square one haha

I am not selling an empty item I made a nice Freebie they can put on their wall that is copy mod and as soon as LL stops trying to tell us to just accept being the victim I will convert those listings

I have reviewed the guidelines and there seems to be nothing from the letter of the law point of view to stop one from selling a freebie actual item with a 'pitch' in the description. I have also added this statement to help others become aware of our plight "Due to the large scale recent fraudulent activity on the MP it is no longer safe to sell full sets here. I hope LL will be able to provide us with greater protection or recourse soon." No doubt the Lab will claim my actions violate the spirit of the law and I would totally understand that point of view however I hope by that time they have given us a better alternative and see that my protest was pragmatic and with good intention. The fact is in the decade I have been on SL the community have weathered many scams mostly by being careful ourselves. Second Life truly has one principle duty and that is asset protection. They are supposed to provide us with a platform and peace of mind to spend freely and engage with others. I have been selling vintage and antique jewelry online for over 7 years and have never seen such despair from online sellers. As complicated as working with credit card companies and Paypal can sometimes be at least there is a process and hope. So if any of the Lindens are reading this thread, please restore our peace of mind and give us pragmatic solutions. I don't know how this was already a big issue in 2017 and yet nothing was done. I can only assume that it effected LL bottom line so little and the outcry was so weak that they just brushed it under the carpet and hoped it would go away. Well it hasn't and we are not willing to stop enjoying the platform we love in-spite of this. I certainly do not make my living in Second Life (though I know a good many that do) but what I do know is theft is theft and this has and continues to create a tremendous amount of suffering for those who invest their time, energy, passion and love into making the Second Life experience amazing.

So why are the real estate companies allowed to have $L0 listings on the MP? Or even when they put a price the transaction happens in world?

An idea occurred to me. Would it in anyway violate TOS if we put our listings as $0 (the item they receive is maybe just a box with the gacha key) and in the description state the price we want for it and that they should contact us to inspect and purchase it in world?We could even add something like due to recent fraudulent activity we are forced to take these measures.

Allowing sellers to disable the buy as a gift option will be the best things LL can do to restore confidence immediately. There is no reason for a transferable item to be bought as a gift so the legitimate buyers wont get hurt nor will the resellers, win-win. It seems that most of these fraudulent cases are using 'the gifting scam model' and this should stop the immediate bleeding. After that LL can start looking into two factor authentication for buying Linden dollars, especially since it has pretty much become the norm online. We should expect that to take a bit of time to implement. Lastly Linden Labs earns a fee from the Marketplace. The Marketplace is a platform where we expect a certain amount of asset protection. You can't take fees and then not handle fraudulent activity. Paypal and the like all have to deal with this. so as much as it will be terribly time consuming for LL since they failed to protect those assets it is incumbent on them to track down those objects and get them back to the original seller (just like they track down the Linden dollars), If 'stuff' wasn't valuable LL wouldn't base their business model heavily on MP fees. And if LL won't track the items down why don't they do the honorable thing of taking the loss themselves for failing in their professional duty. This is a class action suit waiting to happen. TOS won't protect LL in a US claims court because they clearly new about the problem at least a year ago and failed to warn us. The fact that LL takes their 10% fee even when a Linden Adjustment occurs will definitely be considered fraud. The gacha industry in SL is already a tough one and if LL can't give us peace of mind then they might start to see their own bottom line severely compromised as we all take the necessary steps to protect ourselves which will not include selling on the MP. LL left an exploitable hole and guess what criminal elements, as per usual, finally found it and are exploiting it to the max before it gets resolved. Shame on LL who recently increased MP fees to 10% what has that extra increase got us?
