  1. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, I've went to Customize - Units Setup, changed the Display Unit Scale to Meters and then under System Unit Setup I've changed it to 1 Unit = 1.0 Meters. However, when I drop a Standard Primitive in the scene and set it to 2.0 meters, it's significantly smaller than that of the Prim Composer object that is also 2.0 meters if I drop one down to compare the size. I can scale it higher but I want to be accurate and this is weird. Would appreciate some help, thanks.
  2. **BUMP** I'm still trying to figure out how to edit an animation to a sound. As I mentioned earlier, I want to edit an animation according to when the beat will drop, for instance....stomping foot.
  3. Oh I see, I didn't realize the llInstantMessage functions purpose was to send a "premade" message in the script to the avatar. I thought it would be able to send chat.
  4. Thanks everyone for the feedback, I'll take a look at the wiki. Thanks again :matte-motes-asleep-2:
  5. Hello, I'm trying to learn scripting in SL. What I'm trying to do is make a script that allows me to type an encrypted message and relay it to my friend, and they in turn can return a message back. I know to send a message in chat without it being seen, I would have to type on a channel. However, I'd prefer not sending it through a channel because if there's a listen script out there, your message will be read with ease. I know the obvious alternative would be to **DUH** use the actual instant message option provided by SL in your friend's list. But, I want to learn other options and methods to doing so with scripting. I've tried asking ingame but barely anyone wants to help without charging a fee per hour which is pointless. I might as well pay them to make it for me and that's not what I want, I'm eager to learn it. Any help or scripting books/tutorials would be most appreciated.
  6. I'm unable to view the video Torley, sorry. But I don't want to submit a gesture, just the animation itself for now
  7. Seems like you can do this with sculpted prims using a program called NOMI. Apparently it's been around for a while now. Here's the link to it. http://kanae.net/secondlife/nomi.html

    Hair and Fur

Does anyone know if SL will permit us to import hair and fur ingame? Meaning, hair/fur that moves according to the wind, gravity, etc. much like a flexiprim works.
  9. Sorry for the late response, been busy with work. What I meant was that I want to animate the movements of dance moves and use the actual song as reference. For example, clapping your hands to the beat of a song. Think of a metronome, you want to edit an animation frame according to when that beat will come. I don't want to submit the animation and sound clip together, I want to simply edit the animation. Hope that makes sense.
  10. Thank you. :smileyvery-happy: It came out okay, I just need to work on my LoD.
  11. Got it, that's why I hit into someone's build even though it's a good distance away. So this is really the same process as making the physics shape in-game out of the SL prims right? Only difference is you can cut down the amount of vertices (than the standard prims) to a more simple shape that will still encase the mesh. I guess my last question is, does the physics shape save out as a collada file also. P.S: Thanks for taking the time to explain everything.
  12. Is there a way to make animations with sound? What I mean is, is there a way to use a sound (in 3ds Max or another program) and animate along with it? I find myself playing, stopping, rewinding, and even doing so it's not quite on time with the sound.
  13. Forgive me for being a complete noob, but a physics mesh has to do with making the bounding box conform to the actual shape of the mesh? How might I go about doing so, and do you know any tutorials for this process?
  14. Okay, I think I understand. But doesn't it defeat the purpose of the mesh? Basically I have to use the basic prims in-world and make them transparent, then make the mesh phantom and link them together, right?
  15. So, basically I have to start off with a primitive that already has a hole in it such as a tube? What if I want a window and a door on the same mesh?
  16. Hello, does anyone know if any Lindens provided any information about if there are going to be any fixes in the works for hollowed or meshes with holes? At the moment it just seems that the bounding box for the object doesn't compensate for the holes and just makes the whole object physical. For example: doors, windows, tubs.. things of that sort.
