  1. Meeting my first and only SL love (finding nice private rooms for a bit of hanky panky), the fun we had finding good camping spots, finding loaded sploders. Finding good freebie stores. Going shopping to buy certain outfits for club contests.

    Dancing and earning tips.

Meeting new people and becoming life-long-SL friends.

These days it is just contet creation, shopping and a bit of "gambling" Occasionally hanging out with friends when they are online. But most of the time I am solitary.

  2. This happened to me a month or so ago, the Firestorm help group directed me to their page that someone posted above, but someone sent me a PM and just told me to clear my cache first, so I went with easy option first and it worked

I often used to do that many years ago for missing items but then they started saying don't do it hence why I didn't try it initially, but it did do the trick.

Before you lock a house, platform, or something else that might be difficult to put back into position. Put its coordinates in its description window. If it's No Modify, you can put them in the title of notecard in its folder instead.

I used to log position on a notecard, but then started locking the item but may try n get into the habit of doing that as well incase I forget to lock.

^^^^^  THIS!!  I have deleted my home SO. MANY. TIMES!!!!  I lock at LOT of stuff now, all buildings, skyboxes, platforms, landscaping features, especially anything I might try to rez something else on.

So damn stressful isn't it. There trying to position it where it was before. And thinking u have done it and then realise something is missing and is buried in the wall. I do it with platforms a lot as well, I wish the "restore to last position" Worked

  5. The appearance that you see of yourself may not be the same to others - Windlight and settings playing a big part.

If you want to get to your platform but forgot to landmark it don't fly up like this idiot used to do, just click on the address bar at the top and change the last part of the SLURL to the height of your platform

If you want to match textures up on different sized prims don't use default, use planar and synchronize materials. This idiot used to take ages aligning the material and using offset to match everything up🫣

This looks like the perfect placement of a floating Demo sign to me. It's high enough to not obscure the clothing, but low enough so it can't be easily cropped out of a photo.  You might want to add your store brand to it, rather than it just saying "DEMO", but that would be a personal choice.

Side note: I remember some club having a theme of newbie and demo stuff once. If someone were to go to an event wearing demo items that are branded, that would be free advertising. It's rare that people go out wearing demos though, unless it's a demo mesh head or body and they want to try it with different skins and clothes.

Good idea about adding a brand, will sort that out

    Thanks

That openness to change in response to customers is welcome and refreshing. I'm totally not in your target market so discount this advice accordingly, but it seems to me that the whole timed demo approach is tainted now and it would be better to just use one of the other ways to "demo package" a product.

One might be more appropriate than another; for example, I can definitely see reasons not to use special demo-stamped textures for some products. Personally I don't see the problem with an attached DEMO sign fitted somewhere very visible but that doesn't block the view of the product in combination with other attachments the customer may want to check for compatibility. But there may be reasons not to do that, too.

There's potential benefit to using the demo experience as a branding opportunity. There's a men's brand (Dope+Mercy) that demo links an enormous branded spring clip fitted over the customer's head; it's a bit disconcerting for a moment but it's so over the top it makes an impression and now (to me) it's a strangely fun and very distinctive part of buying that brand.

It's possible a 20-minute demo could be turned into a branding opportunity, I guess. Maybe. Start with a reassuring chat BRIEFLY (subliminally?) congratulating the shopper for their great taste in trying the product and telling them to relax, they have a quarter hour to enjoy the experience without interruption. Then, at 15, remind them that it's a demo and they should wrap it up or grab a new copy to test more.

It still seems a bit of a nag, but fifteen minutes is a lot of time for any buyer to invest in a demo before the warning, even if the textures are taking forever to load.

Also, I wonder if a long-timed demo might hurt actual sales by making the demo itself satisfactory for some buyers: apparently SL selfies are such a thing that there's even a market for static poses (!), so might a demo on a generous enough timer be all those selfie-posers need? (That may be paranoid; the whole selfie phenomenon is alien to me.)

(Sorry. That's long. A clue that I don't know what I'm talking about.)

    Ok, how's this then?

When I first started selling clothes I just went with timed demos as most of the clothes I tried on used them. And they were never an issue for me so I really didn't think anyone minded them.

It's good to have input and I certainly don't mind making adjustments.

No, any time limit is annoying for me unless it is something crazy long in the order of hours and you'd never want that since... Well, obviously.

My preference is always for demos with obscured textures, if you clearly state that your demo is timed in the product description that is a fair compromise though - those like me who can't really get along with them will not feel let down, those who can (and 10 minutes is the longest I've ever heard of a demo lasting) would probably be fine with that I think.

It's just not enough time for me to check everything without feeling I'm rushing against the clock, I'm not exactly a methodical worker when it comes to this stuff though.

Would 20 mins be more like it?

I am happy to buy a script that allows me to set the time myself

I really didn't know timed demos were a problem for people, but happy to listen to input like this and make changes when necessary.

Let me bore everyone with another argument against timed demos.

I'm often testing demos with other items, I need to check how your item layers with other things. You know how hard it is to find a skirt that I can wear most mesh panties under? I have some but only because I was able to demo them and check that. Same goes for things to be worn under jackets, things that cover the tummy etc, I check to see if I can use them with other items I already own. This can take a long time, sometimes I'm playing virtual barbie and will want to check boring stuff like this for hours.

A timed demo makes this pain, even if it is copy.

Most timed demos are copy, I usually make a few copies for that reason, though the ones I have tried in the past were 5 min demos, and 5 mins is ample time. There are some that are a shorter hence why I make copies but don't often use a copy unless RL has taken me AFK.

  10. Who am I?

    Pretty much a lone wolf

I have some friends that I met back when I started in 2007, they are not online too much so I am not very social

No disrespect to women but I prefer male friends and when I talk with anyone new it usually gets down to sex very quickly and then I back off, or they back off when they don't get what they want. (I have had one intimate relationship back in 2007 and not found anyone I wanted to be close to since then)

I am not against intimate relationships but not after 5 minutes and that's being generous!

I have phases when I visit clubs to find new friends but the above always comes into play.

I pretty much just create content, shop or "gamble" when online.

It is a bit too solitary/boring a lot of the time

My SL interests are fashion, wildlife and nature, music and I love urban and gothic style sims.

I do miss the old days, camping, contests, quizes and sploders were fun. Finding good freebie spots was a daily thing, I still go to freebie places from time to time but don't really need freebies these days.

I tend to refurbish my sim way too often when boredom sets in, and always changing themes

I would just like to meet some nice guys who don't try n get you naked from the word go, naked can come at a later stage if it felt right.

I have a good sense of humour and enjoy a laugh and try not to take SLtoo seriously.

    That's about it really.

I used to love the ones where someone would make what seemed like a throw away name, but then  started to like SL and was stuck with that name.. hehehe

I can't remember any off hand, but they usually hand some funny line for a name or had fart in there somewhere..  hehehehe

After reading that I had to input fart into the people search - Fart Cloud - Fart Rider - Fart Looming and Fart Soup were a few that caught my eye! I didn't realise there were so many farts in SL!
