  1. hi :) i want to scale an existing rigged mesh avatar to make it bigger without having to redo the rigging from scratch. is there a way to do it? so far i tried scaling the model, scaling the model AND the skeleton, scaling the skeleton only and changing the system units in 3dmax. all results had the same size as the original after upload. i checked "include joint positions" on upload any ideas? :)
  2. one of the games in my store didnt work this morning after the update. when i checked i saw the scripts were all set to lsl instead of mono and they were all set to not running. after recompiling them they worked again. customers can´t do that though, so i hope this was only on my version of the game, have not heard any customer feedback yet, but it´s still early ;)

  3. hi =) just saw a character with an animated rigged mesh tail. it used the BUTT bone (usually used for avatar physics) for that. i would really like to mess around with animating the additional bones, but i have no idea how. i have poser 6 and 3dmax 2009 to work with. are there any (free) tools or usefull info, like tutorials, or poser skeleton files with the new bones? i couldnt find anything. thanks =)
  4. since the last update me and most other users of metabolt have serious inventory issues. it´s impossible to change outfits by rightclicking a folder and saying "replace outfit". wearing items one by one still works. i know LL doesnt support 3rd party viewers, but i think you at least should announce any changes to the inventory system if you roll them out... just my 2 cents ^^

  5. hi =)

    that raises a few questions.

we run a car race sim.

the racers have to buy a car to run in our races.

after each race the best drivers get a payout from the sim owner.

do these new rules apply to us?

    2ndly

    we run demolition derbys...

the racers have to pay the operator of the races 20 L$.

after the derby the top 3 split the pot between them.

do these new rules apply to us?

  6. hi =)

this is how i did it in the past and just tested with 2 additional bones too (using max 2009):

export as collada (with the autodesk plugin 2011.3.1)

edit the dae file in a texteditor to make sure all bones are in it (the new bones are optional, old bones have to be all in) make sure you have the right number of bones in the line with the bonelist. 26 is default, and you have to add the optional bones to that number too, 28 in my test mesh).

it would look something like this:

    <Name_array id="BodyController-Joints-array" count="28">
mPelvis mTorso mHipRight mHipLeft mChest RIGHT_PEC LEFT_PEC mCollarLeft
mCollarRight mNeck mShoulderRight mShoulderLeft mHead mSkull mElbowRight mWristRight
mElbowLeft mWristLeft mKneeRight mAnkleRight mKneeLeft mAnkleLeft mFootLeft mToeLeft mFootRight mToeRight mEyeRight mEyeLeft

the plugin only exports bones that have actually vertices attached to them, in my case the eyes where not in the list, so i added them in the end

the order of the bones has to be left alone, just add missing default bones at the end.

    done and ready for upload.

usually when you get an upload error, the viewer is writing the source of the problem into the viewers logfile, maybe you can get info there on what failed... good luck

  7. fixed it!

found out that catznip offers an option to rightclick such folders and select "return to lost and found".

once they´re there you can edit them normally.

closed the ticket as soon as i found that out, was too scared to have my account broken like the guy in that jira case.

  8. hi :)

my inventory is messed up since today.

a bunch of folders have been moved to the top level, outside of the "my inventory" folder.

i can´t use or delete the folders or items in them, some of them are empty too.

cache clear etc doesnt help, it does reload it in the broken state.

any ideas how to fix it?

contacted LL support, but i expect them to just tell me to get a premium account or get used to the mess :-(

  9. since saturday my ping seems good again. first i thought it´s because of the weekend, but it seems like above.net did something.

i am using the same route, but without the problems. might be that i am wrong though, only tested 4 or 5 sims. but they all had good pings :)

  10. wow i must have been under a rock the past few weeks, wasn´t aware of that change.

i spent 6 month and more on some of my creations, and i uploaded them before the tos change.

imo that is simply evil and at least where i live illegal.

some blog post doesn´t change anything as long as the tos stays unchanged, so it´s meaningless imo.

can i afford a lawyer to sue LL? nope. so looks like LL will succeed with the biggest content theft i ever heard about...

copy botters stole single items, LL on the other hand doesnt care about peanuts like that, they steal it all...

    breaks my heart :-(

  11. ayesha,

    for me nothing has changed...

    just did a tracert:

it will get even worse later in the day...

maybe you´ve just not checked the right (bad) sims? ;)

    try this sim sometime ;)

    edit: typos

  12. hi :)

i dont think it´s the transatlantic cables, the connection seems stable up to the last 3 hops.

as monty said he got a 100 ms ping too in a test.

the difference is that he has 100 ms on a bad sim because he usually has a low ping around 40 or so i am guessing.

but we euros usually have a high ping anyway, so the added 60-100+ ms make it really bad.

i contacted above.net but so far they ignored me. dunno if it would help if " a big player" like LL would contact them.

but i am a realist (some say pessimist) and i expect that sl will be broken for us for quite a while now.

i have a store in a sim with a 300 ms ping now, and the test games i have there work like $%&/( so no one (from eruope) will buy em after testing.

i hope that after todays rolling restart i will get a different datacenter.

if you own a whole region you can try to restart it multiple times until you get to one of the fast ones, not sure if LL will like that though.

does anyone know if the mainland regions get a new server after each restart too? and how is it determined what server your sim gets? just cycle through datacenters? 2 good weeks for 1 bad?

edit: just saw, no restarts this week, so another week of packet loss, chatlag, ping over 300, being stuck at 0,0,0 coordinates after sitting etc -.-

  13. pings are perfect now, but try again around 3-4 pm eastcoast time ;)

maybe you can make sense of these, i just get more confused the more i test ;)

is it above.net? is it the sim host? i don´t know!

  14. sim10090.agni.lindenlab.com 216.82.48.156  (sarafina) runs fast

and sim10308.agni.lindenlab.com 216.82.50.30  (blanc) runs slow

these are just examples. i picked them because the trace route suggests that they are at the same location.

there are many slow sims, and many fast sims though, from my subjective pov it seems like 50:50

lemme know if you need tracerts ;)

  15. i did a few more tests (tracerts to different sims)

i was pretty sure that it´s above.net´s fault, but i now found some confusing results.

some sims that seem to be in the same physical location (exact same route till the last adress) have different ping times.

one has 323 ms, and the other 186.

i am beginning to wonder if it´s something within that datacenter, bad routers/network hardware or whatever (i am no expert ^^) that screws up for some servers.

because english isn´t my first language i will try to explain it again differently to make sure it´s clear :)

the trace route is the same for the sims i tested, just the last adress (the sim) is different.

i did the tests multiple times to make sure the results are accurate

this is np, if you just stand around, but we do car racing ;)
