Playing since 2006 here. Owned two sims back when they cost about $1500 to set up. Things look a bit nicer now - I was at a garden sim a few days ago that was spectacular. I can't get the hang of the new viewer but that's why Singularity exists (yay). I'd like to see more AV's able to gather in one place, it seems like that's an aspect that hasn't progressed much in a very long time despite the fact I think I had a Pentium IV when SL came out!
