Love's right. The fact that anyone is interacting with you at all instead of shunning you, is a positive thing

There is most definitely a forum clique, 50% of which wouldn't have an opinion unless someone from the clique tells then what it is!
I don't disagree that are are cliques (plural) here. In the end though, there is no hive mind despite the common complaint there is.

Are you going to come to me in world and make me pay for my sins? I deserve some vigilante justice, right? Get the pitch forks and torches, cause the council of anti-freedom of speech is coming for me~

The idea that forum people are out to get you is overblown.

My account is nearly 17 years old and I'm proud of the journey I've had so far. I am far from "old" but just don't care whether people think I am or not.

What I'm getting by reading between the lines is that by hiding the status, it effectively freezes the date as far as any casual glances can tell and so they don't feel as though they need to keep making new alts after a while to be "young again".

LL stopped supporting 32 bit viewers last year and I believe Firestorm followed.

Last Firestorm 32-bit version was released on December 14th last year though, so it's still current, just.

Have to say, I don't need to know your age to know that this is all getting old.

I don't think there is a way to stop people from contributing tier once they are in the group. I've just tested that I can contribute some tier to a random shopping group and that was allowed. I would think if there was a way that it would be disallowed by default and would have to be deliberately enabled to be allowed.

Yes, "their side" does that. Like when I not only cut-and-pasted, but predicted what the reply would be, which actually came true in the next post?
Not a very impressive prediction though in reality. I "predicted" someone would come and assert this again given the topic. Oh, look I wasn't disappointed. What? No, I didn't need to post about my "prediction" as if it was anything insightful. When someone gives a contentious often repeated viewpoint, it generally will not go unchallenged. Not rocket science really.

Troo, troo, it has ingrained itself in the userbase, since it was one of the early successful mesh bodies, but it's still falling behind in terms of attractiveness, body details, THOSE SHOULDERS, which need deformers to proportion correctly , lol.... We must transition into better bodies eventually.
Yeah, nah. We get it, it has it's detractors and haters, always has and they've always been the loudest mouths. Being the most popular body in SL will always have that effect. For some of us, while the time may come where there is something better to choose from, it hasn't arrived yet.

Maybe the answer is to not be pre-occupied with age ourselves and if we meet someone who is, do the hand-wavy dismissal thing. If they persist with their age discriminating ways then that's a signal it's time to move on to spend time with more reasonable people.

On the subject of the spurious interpretation of LL policies for mainland regarding orbs. LL wouldn't need to put anything there to give them an "out" for implementing later, they would just change the policy once they decided to do something about it just as they do with any other area of the ToS whenever they need to.

I wouldn't mind either way if it was hide-able or not but hiding it will make people think that the account is old anyway so it seems a little pointless.

It was striking to see the SL puppetry demo. Someone rigged for body and face tracking, and with a good microphone, came alive. They really were in SL, not just driving the avatar. I thought SL was poised for a major breakthrough in immersion.
(This was back when Facebook Horizon looked like a threat.)
I saw the same demo but just didn't come away with the same impression I suppose. It was clever certainly but not a game changer for SL in my opinion.

Don't hide it...
Just tell people that this is how long it takes to complete your avatar and organise your inventory.

The best option is to edit the post and remove the text. Report my own message seem a little bit heavy. But I have to do that post per post and find them.
That isn't going to help after a couple of days, you lose the ability to edit your own posts after a while. Not sure if it's 24 hours or longer.

No there isn't any way. Only moderators can delete posts.

where is the option to delete a post after x days ?
There isn't one and never has been to my knowledge. Best you can do is report your own post and request it to be removed but they may decide to leave it anyway.

Go watch Phia's "Virtual Reality Show" on YouTube.
I was hoping that the SL puppetry project would take SL there, but LL bailed on that project.
Those videos don't answer the question though, they are just VRChat videos.
So instead of AO's making our avatars fidget around, there would be people doing their own fidgeting around.
Why is that important?Do people really want to see other people scratching themselves, doing uncoordinated dance moves and gesticulating wildly?
Is that going to make SL richer somehow for those people?Or is it that people who have bought expensive VR headsets really need to find a use case to justify using them?
These kinds of users are only really ever going to be a niche set in SL in my opinion.
Most people come to SL to escape RL limitations and/or achieve a sense of making an "idealised" version of themselves.
It seems to me that the more of the real world people bring in with them, the less they are able to do that.On the SL puppetry front, I think if LL had delivered it, it would be used by some but would never have become the norm in the same way voice hasn't and for probably a similar set of reasons. I'm not sure it would add much at all to most people's SL experience.

Honest question, why does it matter if people are moving or stationary?

There are a few of them on the forums, Bellisseria themes, avatar gender, avatar height, avatar race, AI images, security orbs, bots, mobile viewers, improvements to the viewer, PBR, and so on. Every forum has them, like in World of Warcraft, bringing up player housing is going to set some people off.
🤣 We should have a sticky at the top of the forum with trigger subjects for residents of the forum to avoid.
If you can name a topic, there's been at least one example of it here on the forums where the flames have burned bright and high.

No, not really, not ever. Don't poke sleeping bears.
