This is good news for Second Life residents and creators. More options without additional costs. We are having an open meeting on May 20 and can discuss in detail.

To clarify - this meeting is only about the Thune stuff? Or is this an ‘open meeting’ where we can ask questions about anything?

(I’m trying to understand if this is the ‘Community Round Table’ meeting mentioned in the Lab Gab designed to talk about community involvement, favoritism, allegations, etc)

After Thunes' announcement, Inara Pey posted:

This Linden Lab post on the Forum thread sets the May 20th date for an "open meeting" where they'll be prepared to discuss the Thunes sale in detail.

Cool - just saw this too. So this meeting is for the THUNE acquisition.

What about the ROUND TABLE discussion mentioned in the Lab Gab (about favoritism etc)?

Is that on 5/20 as well?

Has a time and date been posted on the official SL pages (and not inside a forum thread)?

  3. I learned of a a date for a ‘community meeting’, (5/20) but it was posted in the comments of a Reddit thread on the Thune acquisition. I might be jumping the gun here but….

    - Is this the big community meeting that was promised from the Lab Gab or is this meeting about Thune?

-If this is a Thune meeting, when is the date for the round table?

-If so, are these details being posted in a public place - not just in the comments of a Reddit thread?

Just want to make sure everyone gets the chance to come that wants to and that they are going to the right meeting for the right thing.

Not that I ever plan to be a "Second Life Celebrity", but plenty of people have their RL and SL names connected on purpose and "out there".

So, my comments earlier on it are mostly because one day I plan to purposefully have my RL and SL names connected and public. That makes it more "my choice" than anything, and isn't really part of the topic being discussed unless it becomes "forbidden" (because of TOS) or "dangerous" (because of all the pitfalls) to do so.

Mine aren’t connected. In any way. And haven’t been for almost two decades.

Even if LL somehow knows who I am in RL, I don't think they'll care about my kinks or personal stuff like which bits I wear. So, no matter what happens with "verification", I'm ok with it because as the saying goes, "there's no shame in my game".

I wish I could say the same thing.
Tilia employees used my personal information to creep on my LinkedIn account.

    Be very careful.

"LL is looking to improve policies relating to conduct both within the broader Second Life community of users and within the company as well (e.g. how staff interact with the wider community, and policies relating to potential conflicts of interest / the perception of favouritism, in the case of the latter)."

This is the only part I care about.  I want an enforced internal policy regarding how employees use their powers. Residents should not have to compete unfairly against Lindens. Permissions to access certain private  account info like payment info, IMs  etc. should be compartmentalized to certain departments only.  Anytime god powers are used, should be documented.

    100 % this.

I don't think people realize what a dangerous area this is - especially with age and identity verification. Doxxing is a real thing.

A little advice, if that was in fact the intent of your posting - to be the martyr for the little guy - then why didn't you lead with that?

Why did it take you until the 4th post to get to what you claim is your "real" issue? That appears genuinely insincere to be honest.

It appears you tried to circle your own wagons, pull some short hairs to upset folks, and then play that you are "only concerned about unknown creators" (paraphrased of course). It took you... 3 posts.. to state the question.

I asked two questions in the OP.

    They were answered by Prudence.

After she responded, I then asked more clarifying questions. Those questions could not have been asked first because they were entirely based on her answer.

    Those questions are still unanswered.

Hi gang!  Just a brief reminder that the forum Community Guidelines say

No Flaming: “Flames” are hostile or disruptive posts, or messages intended to provoke an angry or negative response. Spirited discussion and constructive disagreement are welcome, but name-calling and airing of grievances are not appropriate in our discussion areas.

You are welcome to disagree, discuss and ask questions as much as you like. Take anything else off line.

Thanks Dyna! Glad to see the Lab knows about this thread. I'll be excited to hear the answer to the questions I've asked here.

And you missed the part where I said I am not involved in this at all, this being the event. I simply gave you the answer to "how".

Why does any of that matter to you? Seriously, what do you get out of attacking people just trying to host an event? I don't understand this logic nor the vitriolic attack on folks working on a nice event for residents. It is mean-spirited.

While I appreciate you respect me too much - I was not being passive-aggressive, I was stating a simple fact.

Yeah - you obviously don't know the context here. I'd recommend a little more research before you 'white knight' this particular group.

I'm sad Mini Mole didn't invite the rest of the residents to this 4 region party. Surely you knew about it, right Mini?

I'm sad thinking about the mountain of Second Life creators that would have LOVED to put a freebie there that might help show their brand.

This is -exactly- the kind of thing I've been talking about for a really long time. In fact, LOTS of people have been talking about this for a really long time. (And for the record, Linden Lab, it doesn't take much to research!)

Everyone wants to point fingers at me and tell me I'm spiteful and ungrateful...but that doesn't change ANY of the facts that I'm bringing up.

    Answer the questions.

What name did I exactly call?

I respect you too much to pretend that you didn't know that you were being insulting and passive aggressive.

It also seems like you might have missed the rest of the list of questions. Let me help.

    1. Who made the committee?
    2. Who approved it on the Linden side?
    3. It's my understanding that there are designers on these regions that are giving out 'freebies' for their brands - who decided who those designers would be?
    4. And if it's true that there are desginers, was there an oppertunity for all of the Second Life designers to put up their items with a freebie - or just the ones that your Planning Committee selected?

I saw that Lyric Demina showed a post where an open invite was put out on January 12th, I would assume that if you were so earnest about helping you would or may have responded to this call to action and request for help from those wishing to help. I would assume, even if this had been sent out in multiple groups that some folks just may not have seen it, and you would have to agree that giving you a personal invite so that you did not miss this opportunity would - in fact - be both biased and favoritism.

Instead of complaining or laying down the claims you have, of course, all secondhand knowledge it appears, why don't you reach out to see if you can still help? Or better yet, try to be appreciative of those who give their time to create events for others in SL.

It seems like such a waste of energy to complain about someone else's hard work and effort in an attempt to diminish what they are doing.

Be thankful and grateful... not spiteful, it isn't a pretty look on anyone.

Hey Delilah! Did you check out the link yourself? All I see is an open invite for people to 'send pictures to the committee'.

Your answer doesn't really address any of the questions I asked. You're also 'calling names' - That's not a pretty look on anyone either.

My questions are fair. They deserve an honest answer.

    Hello everyone.

The Bellisseria 5th Anniversary Planning Committee thanks you for your interest in this event. Over the past year the Committee, along with various Bellisseria groups, and residents have worked tirelessly towards planning this event. It has been a labor of love for the residents of Second Life and the Bellisseria community.

Thanks for responding, Prudence. So to be clear; you've been planning this Bellisseria specific event - with at least four regions for you and your planning commitee to decorate- for the past year? I just want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding this.

The Planning Committee consists of a team of residents that have hosted many events over the last 5 years within Bellisseria.  The planning of this event has been an inclusive collaboration of many Bellisseria groups, individuals, and performers to come together and put on this month-long event. It is not one person, or one group but the involvement of many, working together in order to celebrate the milestone event of Bellisseria turning 5 years old this April.

    Interesting.

I think many of us would be SUPER interested in being part of any team of people that 'have hosted many events over the years' - especially those that have Linden Lab support, marketing, and future 'event hosting oppertunities'. Can you help me (and anyone else interested) understand how we get the oppertunity to do those things? It seems like all of these oppertunities keep being offered to the same people - the people in the groups that you mentioned in your 'statement' above.

Who made the committee? Who approved it on the Linden side?

It's my understanding that there are designers on these regions that are giving out 'freebies' for their brands - who decided who those designers would be?

  14. To be fair, this wasn't suppose to be public knowledge. My sources say that it has been kept from the public by design.

The four 'resident decorated' regions by BBB members and their friends are suppose to be coming out, offically, in April for the 'community to enjoy' at the event. This post is because I'm following up on the information I recieved and verifying the video/screenshots I was given.

To be clear - An employee of Linden Lab reached out to me to 'meet with me to hear my experience' about bias and favoritism with this specific group, and he wanted to 'let me know that these types of decisions are being investigated.'

As someone who formerly PAID for a full region, LOADS of mainland tier, had my own residence in Belli, and also hosted events on private regions THAT I PAID FOR... I'm trying to understand this decision. Especially with everything else going on - including a YouTube that specifically outlines the favortism that Linden Lab is showing with this particular group.

It doesn't look like anyone is really investigating anything.

It looks like everyone is just carrying on, hiding and being dishonest - like normal.

Just looking for a little context here about this OBVIOUS favortism?

  15. XBox controller works as well! :) Between Space Mouse, XBox controller, and changing up the lighting options with dofferent viewers/various viewer add ons... I think thats how most people film in Second Life. I'm not a professional, but I've found all that to be the easiest part of filming in SL. (Movement has been more challenging for me.)

Alot of people 'film' directly with their video card on their computers, but others use OBS Studio and Streamlabs too. (Jackson did a tutorial on this a few months ago if you are interested! :) )

    Welcome!

  16. Hey everyone!

I've got a little space in Bay City that I'm trying to 'stream an online radio statio' as the music for the land. (Forgive me if my terms for this part of SL aren't 100% correct - I know ZERO about DJ / streaming / music / etc.)

The station I'd like to 'play on my land' is here: https://www.jango.com/stations/396439588

I did a Google search to see if I could figure it out myself and found lots of articles that say something like this:

    Quote

right-click on your mouse > inspect > navigate to Network tab > media > play the radio inside the page and you will discover a stream URL under the name column.

...but I don't ever see a URL when I navigate to that tab. (screenshot below) .

Am I trying to do something that isn't possible? I'm sure it's there, I just don't know what to look for...
