Not much info to go on, but it sounds as if you might be describing the effect of one-sided rendering. In SL, the faces of meshes (and sculpties, and everuthing else) are rendered with only one side showing, That is to avoid wasting resources rendering the hidden insides of objects. Only the side that the normal vector protrudes from is rendered. This means you have to make sure the normals point the right way. They should stick out from solid objects. You can show them by choosing to show normals. In Blender solid display mode, rendering is two-sided, so you see the other side as well. Then the unrendered faces seem to have disappeared inworld. You can also see the effects of one-sided rendering by selecting it or switching to textured display mode.
