how can i locate someone on second life without logging into it

I would like to get in touch with someone on my friends list but not allowed to actually get on sl at work is there a way of locating without getting on with my avatar

Hello sweetthing. If you have ipod or an android device, there are applications for chatting. You can download them and chat with your friends in SL like when you are online but you don't see avatars. You find them at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory For ipod's you can try Pocket Metaverse and for Android's, Mobile Grid Client.

You can go to https://my.secondlife.com/, locate your friend in your friends' list, and choose the option to send a private message.
