I have an LLCOMMON.DLL issue with all SL Viewers and cannot log in to SL

I enter username and password, the login progress bar comes up, then at around 50% load I get a lovely message saying 'Second Life has stoped working' with the additional details :-

I know LLCOMMON.DLL is delivered with SL and not Windows so this IS and SL problem. How do I resolve it ?

If you follow the thread you will notice that none of the advice given has yet solved the problem, hence I continue to ask. If you have no suggestions I suggest you resist posting responses.
