someone gave me a gift how do i wear it or open it

It depends.  If you click on the item and 'wear' it then all is ok.  If you wear it and now you have a box on your head (click object box and 'take off'.)   You will need to go to a public sandbox and open the box: 

- Drag the object from your inventory to a point on the ground (closest to your feet as possible)

- Click on the object and 'open' it

- click ok to accept in your inventory

- click on the object on the ground and 'take' back into inventory.

- go to the folder in your inventory where the 'opened' objects reside

- click on the object and click 'wear' object
