how did my lindens manage to become -10

for some reason my lindens went from 0 to -10 how did this happen when I bought nothing

Probably due to group liability charges.  Check your Transaction History at Dashboard - Account for exactly where the linden went to.

Check the groups you belong to. Cinn is right, some of them are probably charging you fees. Leave them and stick to the groups which charter say "there is no cost to join this group". A negative balance prevents you from shopping freebies on the marketplace. I just sent you 10 L inworld to set you back to 0.
